What do you guys like more ..this song or her new French masterpiece? We have been spoiled these days. First the fantastic mindblowing billboard performance where we see showbizz Celine and then French Celine with an intimate beautiful French song.
Cannot wait for the tour and then in August her new French album!

Well that was trully special night for Celine, I was so moved by that speech, it was our old Celine, so emotional but also strong. Its been a while she cried in public, I missed it

The thing that concerns me more is the performance, specifically your praising of it. Guys Im sorry, but this was exactly the type of performance we always used to criticize: Its all coming back to me, I surrender, I drove all night, Whitney tribute etc (I was gonna say prerecorded and lipped but I see that you started to haunt people who say that, so Im not gonna use that) so generic and perfect if you wish, although I'd rather use word empty.
I know, I know, she had to...emotions, scare of breaking on stage, she just played safe.
But for me as her fan, its artistic value is 0=zero

Again, Im not criticizing her, Im criticizing you, because to say it was her best performance ever is odd at least, after all of the vicious comments you've put on that amazing raw AMA appearance, which should be for true fans the real gem, the same as All the Way etc. there, you can actually hear her connection with mic, which you cant hear in this one. And you're even dare to judge Madonna's honest singing... something must be wrong here

I think Céline needed a song like this, with rhythm and energy... because non-fans think she can only sing cheesy love songs. Many critics were actually shocked she could pull this off!!

I agree, but at the same time they got to see that CELINE can still sing better than ever and kill them notes.

I love the song was edgy but still had Celine power in it! I can't remember the last time Celine stunned on National American live tv like this.

At17 at GRAMMYS was laid back.
Dance With My Father At GRAMMYS was laid back.
Smile at OSCARS was laid back.
I Knew I loved You at OSCARS was laid back.

This had the emotion, the vocal power to show the fans as well as the critics the voice is still in tact, and it was pulled off perfectly.

Even Celine herself said on one of the interviews backstage, that this moment at that show will be a remembering part of her legacy when she dies.

And of course you believe everything you read in the mainstream media.

I love Celine, but while the speech was emotional and lovely, the performance was good but far from her best, never mind not being live.  When she does covers, they never sound like her own version.

Meanwhile, it's bizarre Britney is praised for badly lip-syncing to 10 year old vocals, while Madonna is crucified for hitting an odd bum note while doing an honest and emotional tribute to her friend.  She doesn't actually have to prove anything to anyone, and no one said a word about Stevie Wonder's awful vocals.  It's even more odd to go from that to reading how great Celine was when we all know it was lipped.

I have been a fan of Celine since the album Unison.  It might sound weird because even if i'm from Quebec I really started to develop an interest in her when she began to have success in the United States.  I guess I was proud of her. I consider myself a big fan but after all these years there are moments where you distance yourself a little bit, where you do not feel the connection as much as you used to....and I guess it's normal...but then you have those moments just like yesterday evening where Celine shows you AGAIN why you love her and in that precise moment you feel the same emotions as intense as they were when you were young and you were going "crazy" for her... Yesterday evening I felt the same as when I saw her sing for the first time on the american TV in the early 90's!  Only Celine can do that! Only Celine can you make you feel like this!!! She is so special to me! And because of that, I know and WE know the show WILL go on.....and on....

Ugh, I know!  This just tears me up inside.  Poor Celine I feel like she just needs to let all of the emotions out and let it flow, but she's trying so hard not too.  She needs to know we are all backing her and crying does not make you weak, more just that you've been strong for too long and need to let it out.  Just want to hug her.  She is so so strong, but it's ok to show the emotions too.  What an emotional night for her!

Hey everybody! It's been a long time since I posted so I thought I would weigh in a little. I loooooooved the performance. I am pretty darn sure that the performance was live, though I won't say I know for a fact and act the way others have. I think a lot of people commenting on here are acting like they know better than most (and though some may) it is(was?) actually getting quite annoying. We will probably never know for certain, but for me it was her best performance in years and one of her best ever as well in general, irregardless of the live/not live debate. And just to add to the success from the bbma's performance, it reached a peak of 61 (peaked early afternoon my time at least) in the US Itunes and has been holding steady. Although these are good numbers I won't necessarily hold my breath on a hot 100 hit because her Spotify and Youtube numbers are not great. YouTube's numbers are good-ish, and are very consistent but not amazing. And as for her Spotify numbers they are only so-so (at least when compared to other songs in the previous week's hot 100 list vs hers) so for now we can only hope. Regardless of what happens with the song, this performance was iconic. I think as time goes on it will be remembered as one of the better performances at least of the 2010's. Fans loved it, Non-fans loved it, articles were positive pretty much everywhere (even unexpected places!). I call it a success! (sorry for the loooong post lol!) That's just my point of view.
