obituary
Quote
In sadness and grief, he leaves a large family headed by their mother, Thérèse Tanguay-Dion; his daughters Valérie (Patrick Goyette) and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren Matis and Laurianne (Valérie); his brothers and sisters Denise (Yvon Dodier), Clément (Denise Dumont), Claudette (Serge Gaudet) Liette (Guy Poirier) Michel (Danièle Corbeil), Louise (Pierre Tremblay), Jacques (Geneviève Garceau), Ghislaine (Jacques Talbot), Linda (Alain Sylvestre), Manon, Paul, Pauline (Marc Martel) and Céline (René Angélil). As well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, who are remembering a gentle and reserved man of many talents.
Tribute will be paid at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny, Saturday January 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A few days later, a religious funeral will take place at St-Simon-et-Jude, in Charlemagne Québec, where the family was raised.
His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec. For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated.
Taking in consideration the reserved character of their deceased brother, the family wishes respect and discretion from the media.

We don't even know if Daniel was conscious in those last days, it may not have been worth Celine making the effort after everything she's been through.
Yeah true. It doesn't surprise me celine is still in lv. I was just hoping she had seen him and that they are all together now. At least Linda should be with celine. Well I hope she is. And obviously if that's the case it means Linda never saw him too. Which is just as sad.

I was thinking the same thing this evening. It seems 'wrong' that she should outlive her son and son-in-law, especially as she was 30 years older than Daniel
I hope Maman is strong enough to get through the loss of her son. The last thing we want is Thérèse going downhill at this point.

Surrounded by his loving family, Daniel Dion, older brother to Celine and eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 years old.
After a long battle with cancer, Daniel leaves to mourn his mother Thérèse Tanguay-Dion; his daughters Valérie (Patrick Goyette) and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren Matis and Laurianne (Valérie); his brothers and sisters Denise (Yvon Dodier), Clément (Denise Dumont), Claudette (Serge Gaudet), Liette (Guy Poirier), Michel (Danièle Corbeil), Louise (Pierre Tremblay), Jacques (Geneviève Garceau), Ghislaine (Jacques Talbot), Linda (Alain Sylvestre), Manon, Paul, Pauline (Marc Martel) and Céline; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23rd from 2:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-10:00 pm at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny. Funeral services will be held at St-Simon-et-Jude Church in Charlemagne a few days thereafter.
His final days were spent in the care of the staff and volunteers at the palliative care centre Maison Adhémar-Dion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the centre would be appreciated.
The family requests that in honour of their brother’s memory, their privacy be respected in this time of grief.

I feel so bad for Celine, but I kinda feel worse for Rene-Charles. His 15th birthday is in 9 days. I can't help but think that Celine and Rene had planned some big party for him with friends and family to celebrate, but now RC has to spend this time grieving the deaths of his dad and uncle and going to memorial services and funerals
And, please to the powers that be, don't let ANYTHING happen to Maman Dion!!!

I am really worried for both Celine and Therese Dion right now. Therese is 89 years old and this isn't an easy thing for a young mother to have to experience, let alone someone of her age. Like others on this forum are thinking, I hope this doesn't send Celine's moms health over the edge.
Her health has been pretty good up until now, but losing a child puts alot of stress and depression on a person.
All I have to say is that I hope this is the end of the tragedy train for a long, long time.
I have a feeling Celine is going to be the strong one in all of this and help her mother and family get through this difficult time. I know all of them are going to lean on each other right now for support. The good thing about having a large family is, There's a big support group.
I can't believe the timing of all of this. Rene's passing and then Daniel passes right on Rene's birthday. Sad, sad times for the Dion and Angelil family.
My prayers go out to all who knew and loved both, Rene and Daniel. Happy Birthday Rene and may you and Daniel both rest in piece and keep each other company up in heaven.

Everyone in the Dion family have musical talent, but some more then others. Celine and Daniels voices really stood out in the family. It just sucks that Daniel had his cancer in the tongue and throat of all places, because he probably lost his ability to sing. Then to have it go to the brain. That must have been so horrible and painful for him.
At least neither Rene or Daniel have to suffer through this horrible disease anymore. I hate that this had to be the way to do that, but at least they are finally at piece.
