^ it is exactly ur point that many music critics share with you and this is why she will never be respected like she deserves to be by them. you already see on most best singers lists, most influential singers lists and the such, she fails to even make an appearance whereas people like Adele Beyonce Taylor Swift - who combined are not even as talented as Celine - are present in them.

That is sadly true :( Celine needs to be herself musically.

I've not posted on the forum for a long while but I saw the discussed video that Celine posted and had to post. I know she must be in a lot of pain still and grief is a truly terrible thing but I really don't understand her posting that video. I guess she was trying to show people how she still totally loves her husband and misses him.
The thing is, as other have said, it all feels very staged and produced. I think something much more simple would have been more effective. Maybe just a slide show of family pics and one of her songs. This is just going to fuel all the haters and give them something to mock. Which is the saddest part, I'm afraid.

I hate to say it but I also don't like the singing on the video and I think Celine had many more appropriate songs in her own back catalogue with which she could have paid tribute to Rene.
What worries me is that most times I hear Celine sing now she seems to be singing Sia or Adele songs. To me that shows her creative team aren't satisfying her. Does Madonna go on chat shows and sing Sia? Would Adele or Sia try to specifically copy Celine's diction, phrasing and singing style? No... They are artists that are cashing in on their individuality. Celine seems lost musically. She needs direction and concept. She needs to be Celine Dion, to do what she does best.
She needs to stop singing in the style of whoever is popular at that given moment. At the height of her popularity Celine didn't sound like anybody else. She was the imitated one! Not the imitator.

What's the big deal. That video was not for us to judge. It was a video for Rene. It was for her to show fans that she's not really fine. This was a video from a wife to her Husband. It was for her and her kids. She chose to share because she is an open book. So what that  She mimicked Sia, did it occur to anyone that Rene might have liked Sia as well. That the song might have had meaning for them. So, it is what it is leave it at that. We should not judge her...it's her grief and she choose to share it with us. We should be grateful and not complain. The fact that it was The room Rene Died in and that's the pillow he gave her and she placed under his head, it's very symbolic. If you felt it was staged, then I'm sorry. It is what it is.

I'm sorry but something stops being "personal" and for your family when you share it with the world, literally. I get that not everyone grieves in the same way. I respect that. I don't have to like the video though. And why so defensive?

I've been a fan of Celine's most of my life. I love her, she's my favourite singer. I love her voice, not Sia's.

Defensive because you guys says it's to much or staged and she is sang Sia and it's uncomfortable. So my point is who cares. It's her video.

What a comparison...sorry but we all can have our own opinion. You have yours. My saying that i rest my case means i am done with this discussion. And you don't have to be so defensive when people do not share your opinion.

I'm very aware of what I rest my case means...I have 15 lawyers in my family. Second, I could care less about anyone's opinion, everyone has a right to share it, but my point was, something don't need an opinion especially something so personal. Something's are better left unsaid. I'm saying she shared it and that was that....it's a sad and trivial thing to shoot someone while there down.

I think you mean "You couldn't care less" saying you could care less means you care. Maybe a little too much.

Here is a  new interview , If  someone could be kind enough to translate this article for us that don't understand it

Although René Angélil had expressed the desire to "die in the arms" of his wife, Céline Dion revealed in an interview the much less pink circumstances of the death of her husband.

René Angélil was killed on the floor of his room by a nurse in shock after he died on January 13, a night during which his wife was delivering a concert at the Caesar's Palace in Vegas.

His death would have occurred as a result of a fall from his bed.

Although she is now at peace with Rene's departure, Céline Dion admits she found it very difficult not to have been with her husband at the time of her death.

"Normally after my shows, I'll tuck him in and give him a kiss, but that night I did not want to wake him up." The nurse found him lifeless on the floor the next day. ", Says the Quebec diva.

Céline was "haunted" by the idea that Rene suffered wounds after his fall and that his death was painful.

Fortunately, the doctors confirmed that her husband had not suffered any fractures or contusions as a result of his fall and that he left without suffering, which allowed Celine to sigh a little.

Let me make an opening statement here by saying that this subject is NOT funny but the translation of that sentence made me chuckle.
I have had the time of my life following this woman!  Much love.

Droit au but.

I still can't quite get over how strong she was that day. Standing there for - what was it, 8 hours? - personally saying thank you to all those people. So much respect.

Especially as she was only meant to be doing it for 2 hours or so.

Does anybody know if the moment when André Coutu and Jean-Seb appear is included on this video? I've been trying to find it but was unsuccessful...

I don't think anyone actually captured the full 7 (?) hours that this was aired / streamed by some news channels. I think Andre & Jean-Seb were there earlier in the day. This clip seems to be towards the evening, after they brought out chairs for her & Rene's children since they've been standing this entire time.

Exactly. I missed the first hour cause I got the timings wrong and it seems no one has it or the whole thing in full. Such a shame. I know it sounds odd but it's like their wedding which again we don't have it's a moment in history well Celine and Rene's history as well.

I still can't quite get over how strong she was that day. Standing there for - what was it, 8 hours? - personally saying thank you to all those people. So much respect.

Yes, there are tons of impressive Céline Dion videos performing amazingly, and then there's this video. Where we see Céline Dion but in different way. I'm still impressed with the wake. So much respect for her doing this for like 9+ hours without any rest.

I too have been looking for the full video but I think nobody captured it in full. I remember I think I watched it almost the full Global News broadcast, which was the most complete coverage they did of the thing, and that was like 6 hours non-stop if I'm not wrong. At least I remember watching like 6 hours and I was "is she going to be there all night?" or "are they going to stop the broadcast at some point???". Impressive.

I remember too. I was watching it off and on, and then I had to go to my orchestra for 2 hours, and then another 1.5 hour passed before I could watch again and I watched for another hour and she finally left. I was like that is true humility right there!

I can only find this video. I know they were standing in line like everyone else and someone saw them and brought them to the front of the line

I think you need to be Facebook friend of Andre or Jean-Seb to see it

Thank you for finally finding it. Gosh, I re-lived all the emotions from last year just by watching that video. The way Jean-Seb's heart breaks when he sees René, the fact that even Michel (who kept strong through the whole event) couldn't help crying...

    Off topic, but not really.

A really touching and sincere interview with Sheryl Sandberg about Option B, a book she wrote about dealing with the sudden death of her husband and dealing with being a single mom to little kids.
    http://www.cbc.ca/ra...ion-b-1.4080025

It's so powerful to hear her speak like this, especially to those of us who have only ever really known her as this pillar of professional female empowerment.
(I got to meet her at Facebook HQ when she was launching Lean In and invited some of us female MBA students from Stanford & Berkeley to the launch, and remember thinking, "well, here's this A-Type personality who's just super perfect at everything she tries and has never failed at anything and has never had a moment of weakness... how can an ordinary, less-than-perfect girl relate"? So it's actually really, really reassuring to see even someone like her be vulnerable and lost. Oddly, I actually have a lot more respect for her now after seeing how she dealt with losing Dave, than just for her off-the-scale professional Google & Facebook accomplishments. Totally wouldn't mind if she ran for president, as some suspect she might.)

I also see that a lot of Renés funeral full videos have been taken off Youtube.

I wonder if it's her team that is doing that..

I was searching around on instagram yesterday and I came across a love letter that Celine sent to Rene on Valentine's day. I think it was during the time of her Let's Talk About Love Tour, when Rene was going through his radiantation treatments and couldn't be with her during that time.

I don't know how to post the letter, but it reads as follows:

    My Treasure,

I'de love to make myself into a Queen Of Hearts for the occasion. I count the days, the shows, the nights and the hours that keep me from you. I've burned so many candles projecting your face on the walls of my hotel rooms like shadow puppets. And Leaving some of my wildest dreams behind me.

In the sky above my bed, every night I play the silent film in black and white, where the King meets his Queen Of Hearts. They snuggle up against each other. Until they become one. How happy they are.

For Valentine's Day and for all eternity, I adore you, your wife, Celine XX

Celine is so incredibly good with words. I've heard and seen a lot of people show there love for one an other, but Celine and Rene's relationship was and will always be something very, very special. I've never in my life seen a love and bond as strong as there's. I don't think anything can break that kind of a love. :)

Thanks for posting this beautiful letter.( There is also a letter that she wrote him in French, also beautiful) I am a big fan of this amazing couple. What I most admire about these two is the fact that they still loved each other through good and bad times. Everyone could see that they still cared for each other even after so many years together. I love to watch all their moments together and I love to hear Celine talk about him. They are so lucky to  share such a special love. I agree, their bond is unbreakable and eternal.
