For the first time in her carreer, Celine is using Auto-Tune live. And I mean, LIVE, not in post prod like in DVDs or things like that. The big notes in I Surrender, the 100% live ABM note from the first night, and many other long and sustained notes are heavily auto-tuned. That's why it sounds so polished and perfect (tho very unnatural), even if she is singing them truly live.

For me, this is still a lot better than playbacking everything, it leaves a lot more room to be creative than lipping on a pre-recorded track.

I'm sorry, but I just don't believe she would use AutoTune live... If she's using it for the big notes, why not also for the smaller notes? The notes leading up to the big note in ABM and the occasional sharp or flat note throughout... Have some faith in Celine... :wtf:

Yeah, FORCH is really nice. Sat in the sixth row opening night and was able to see her so clearly!

yeah FORCH is the place to sit for sure! ive seen the old show and A New Day a handful of times and FORCH was always the best.. im so excited to see this new show!

I didn't like quand ca balance the first night but by the third night it really grew on me. I quite like it, even if it different.

When used live, auto-tune can be VERY obvious, so logically they wouldn't use it everywhere. You have to know how auto-tune works to understand exactly what I'm talking about. It's still Celine Dion we're talking about, not Britney Spears. She is able to stay on-pitch most of the time, no need to tune the whole performance.
With big, steady long notes like those, it will be VERY obvious if you're not 100% on pitch. Come on, you can clearly hear that even the vibrato is flattened. When you work with sound each day, every day, things like auto-tune or other audio artifacts are easily recognizable.

Robin Leach wrote an article with a song by song rundown of opening night in the Las Vegas Sun. He called Barnev "Barney" and called "All the Way" "When Somebody Needs You."

Obviously he has still not hired a fact checker.

I went again to see her yesterday and let me tell you... Was amazing! Much better than Saturday for me at least. The way she sang the songs, her voice, the energy... Perfection!

I have not written in this forum for more than 5 years now but this kind of post gives me a big smile. That sounds cooooooooooooooooool!!!!
From what all what is written here, the bootlegs, the videos, all the excitement of the FYI/LTAL seems back all over again. That's great. It is saddened by the terrible condition of Rene and gives a bittersweet taste. But her fierce comeback on stage si so them: never letting go and facing adversity being better.

And what you said is so exactly what the majority of fans think - it's good that this kind of message can go accross to the man in charge of her carreer.
The positive thing as well is that he is new to the game and he seems willing to shake things up. Looking forward for the next steps esp. the albums as she is taking chances ;).

The live ABM note on the august 27 show wasn't strained at all. It was slightly raspy but was as open as whole.

yes, but yo9u see she hasn't gone outside too much lately, and i prefer it. Too dark isn't on the trend now.. :giggle:

Perfection.
As a Judy garland fan I'm very biased but Celine is the only person that can sing that song like it's supposed to be. Not just vocally but the emotion too.
