Well they won't be milking me this time, i'm not buying until i see the actual setlist. there will have to be quite a few much older songs than the last 10 years. Otherwise i am not interested.

It would be so great if, while Rene is still somewhat involved in her career, we get a compilation of unreleased tracks. It would take Rene to achieve this task and I hope it becomes a priority for him.

I know this would be a daunting task -- and it will probably never happen because it would cost a lot of money and not make much money. Not to mention how time consuming it'd be. And all the red tape they'd have to cut through would be ridiculous! But I think it would be incredibly special to finish the unfinished tracks that Celine started "back in the day" -- and also release the tracks that were completed but never released. I feel like when they release compilations of Celine's greatest hits, they could start including some bonus/unreleased tracks. That would certainly inspire us fans to buy these new compilations. Do they really expect us to just keep buying the same songs over and over?

I'm a huge Karen Carpenter fan -- and her brother, Richard, has pretty much scraped the well clean of all of their incomplete tracks and demos from when the Carpenters were recording (before Karen's death of anorexia in 1983). True, many of those songs aren't as polished and many of them were not anywhere near final takes. But I'm still so grateful to have them -- because it helps to complete Karen's legacy. And her smooth, velvety, one of a kind voice gets to shine that much more.

My assumption, though, is that Celine and Rene look at those unreleased tracks as "not worth the time" -- and they'd rather focus on new material and her current shows. But if those songs remain unreleased -- I'd always feel a small void when it comes to Celine's career.

I believe that too.

We all know Celine's a perfectionist, and who knows what are the reasons why those songs didn't end up on an album.

It took Barbra many years to finally decide to release that kind of album. Maybe one day Celine will finally decide that it's time for those unreleased songs to see the light of day.

It makes me wonder... They happen to release stuff like this once in a while. I mean, it's not the first time they release something like this and probably not the last one. So does it mean it actually sells well??

The releases mentioned in this topic, like many other Celine re-releases, have absolutely nothing to do with Celine or Rene. They're just re-packaged or re-boxed sets by Sony, who give the same treatment to multiple artists at the same time, especially when it comes to their budget series like Essential or Playlist. They're not really aimed at fans, but more towards casual listeners.

I was wondering the same thing.

I guess that's what non fans who want to have only her greatest hits would buy.

Probably the umpteenth re-packaging of the pre-Sony compilation previously released as "Ne partez pas sans moi," "C'est pour vivre," "The French Love Album," "The Collection 1982-1988," "Sus canciones mas bellas," "The Best of The Early Years" and most recently "Avec toi: The Very Best of the Early Years."

You're right, like The Essential, or the package 3 in 1 (ANDHC,LTAL,FIY)...

Those are my two all time favourite French albums! (OK, OK two of three, D'eux is also a winner) Too bad I already have them and have played them over and over.

I do think these two fit together very well. I always kind of considered SA 1F&4T vol. 2 (but then without the 4 Types )

Maybe she should have called the album: 1 Fille Sans Attendre Les 4 Types.

I see here, at one of our music stores, they are advertising on the tv, any two cds for R100, that's approximately $10. A person can choose any two cds and amongst the cds that they showed, was Celine's "Ultimate Essential" album, but this one is the same cover, but it says Diamond Edition. Wonder what thats about. Wll have to go have a look most probably.
