I saw this the  other day and just about fell out of my chair! LOL  I'm so glad we'll be seeing her a few places this holiday season.  She's been one busy lady lately.  At first, I thought it was a two-part show but then I realized they're just airing it twice.  :doh:   At any rate, I'll watch both times!! :-D

It does say "holiday messages" so that really makes me think she won't sing.  It seems like this is a special airing of a bunch of Christmas type stuff to create one long program and the stars will just be giving their message of hope, support, etc.  However, there aren't too many singers on the list (at least from that article) so it'd be cool if they each did a short song or something.  I guess we'll see.   Edit: part of me also wonders if this will also be a fundraiser type deal, to some degree.

I don't think it's stupid...there will probably be more singers giving messages that aren't singing as well. This isn't a program aimed at promoting any specific artists, rather just spread the joy of the season with some of the public's favorite people.

On my TV line-up it says that the movie "A Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart will be on. That's a wonderful movie, a classic in fact, but I want to see Celine! I'll keep checking tho'. I don't want to miss it!

She can't sing if they don't ask her to do so.  You're assuming they've asked her to sing.  It doesn't sound like there are other singers at this event singing - everyone must have just been asked to record a message.

They may also run the TV ad for the album during the show which would be decent

I was just thinking about how we are all complaining that it will be only a message.

I guess sometimes we forget it's not all about promoting the album, or sales or that kind of stuff.

It's a Christmas message, for God's sake.

No wonder Celine has said in a recent interview that Christmas is not like it used to be. All we can think about is sales and sales and sales.

Personally when they announce Céline in some TV show and I want her to perform, the least I think about is in sales. I couldn't care less about sales and charts, but I'd wish that all (or the most possible quantity) of songs in the album have a chance to be performed on a stage, so they'e not buried in the oblivion (like has happened already with dozens of songs in the past).

So in my view, everytime she's invited to a show or an interview in TV, it's a great chance to show the world another new song of her albums (not only to make money) :)

Chances are this appearance will not have an impact on charts, same way it happened with her short message to One Direction. Nice to see her spreading some positivity though! :)
