Gahhh my favorite from OH definitely has to be Reveal, I am always listening to it.
It makes me a bit sad that it was never a single

For me, I don't like One Heart album. It's as an attempt to try something new. Not the best album, not the worst either, but still not my favourite album. My favourite song from One Heart album is I Know What Love Is.

Although I love the album, here are a few things I would have changed about it:

1. First single "I Drove All Night" was an amazing song, but its accompanying video was less than stellar. An amazing video would've helped the song more, IMO.

2. Second American single "Have You Ever Been In Love" was a slight misstep. Though the song is good, and it performed well on the AC charts, repeating it from ANDHC was not the smartest idea. Plus, if they wanted to reprise an ANDHC song that had massive potential, was adored by the fans and was going to be a staple on her Las Vegas show, I'd have chosen "I Surrender" instead.

3. Gems like "I Know What Love Is" and "Reveal" were lost to "Stand By Your Side" as third single.

4. Oh, well, you can't have it all. But I still like the album very much.

5. The greatest thing I have from that album is the Canadian promo single for "Faith," my favorite song on the album.

One heart is so much better than ANDHC according to me. The only big mistake is...One heart, the song.   In is touch is an amazing ballad, Reveal a great up-tempo song and Naked such a good pop song, not to mention Faith.

Could the Song ONE HEART be a hit single if was released with a decent promotion today?

In my opinion could, I think still has a fresh sound, the video is cool and is a pop dance song

I can't stop playing this songs in last couple of weeks

I highly doubt that.  The only way Celine can release a hit is by recording a song unbeknownst to all her fans and releasing it under an alias to all the radio stations.  Then they can premiere the song with a live performance from this 'mystery singer' after it's gone to #1 on some awards show and people will be floored.  If the experiment works, then we will know it's not so much that people don't like Celine's music, instead it's pretty much that they don't like her as a person.

I have mixed feelings about this album. First, I remember when I opened my copy of OH I was shocked to see the big logo on the CD of chrysler. I was like Celine doesn't usually do that kind of things promotions for CARS. (I knew afterward the Celine and Chrysler background). I was really shocked when I heard her sing the songs; in the album version of IDAN she does not hit the high note; she uses autotune instead. I was like that's not Celine. Apart from promoting Chrysler and autotuning on a 2 songs (OH and IDAN), there are some sweet ballads in the CD I know what love/ In his touch/JTAE. Overall, it's a weak album who did sell better than taking chances!!! I prefer her LTAL album. it's one of my favourite album. In FIY, she actually did the same thing as in OH she added three songs from D'eux album translated into English

The sad thing is that Columbia tried to go with this route for 'Taking Chances' (not as far as a song unbeknownst to fans), giving it to radio stations without saying who it was (and a lot didn't know it was Céline), but they could've gone further (like with the whole TC project)....

well they kinda did that with Alone, the special card sleeve on the Alone promo, but that didn't work either, cos it wasn't a good song to be a single!

I don't think OH could be a hit, but Faith and Revealed could have done nicely. it's all about the right singles and promotion! and sadly neither is present in Céline recent carreer

"Reveal" is THE song since Celine's comeback in 2002 that should've been a single head and shoulders above all the rest. It was at a time when up-tempo dance pop was popular in the charts and was written by a writer who had hits with similar songs with Kylie Minogue at that time. A painfully missed obvious single choice from Sony.

As you say Davey, it's been the story of Celine's career recently though. The "Alone" choice remains embarrassing.

In Portugal the promo single had Celine's name on the cd cover

Actually TS is a nice song, the problem is half of song sounds like old Celine's Stuff

OH has very potential songs to be hits like ANDHC and TC

in all honesty, I don't think that this album was made to reach the standards of FIY, LTAL or even ANDHC... it was made to promote Chrysler and A New Day... and to give 'something' to the fans who weren't able to go to Vegas to see the show. I do think that her vocals on songs like In his touch, SBYS, IKWLI and JTEA is really good. (and i still think some songs were leftovers from ANDHC   )

Hi guys, I don't create new threads often, but I though that it would be interesting to have this one specially dedicated to the album One Heart since it's a record that we don't have much information about. Things we know are the release date (March 25th, 2003) and the fact that the album is made by then-new recordings like I Drove All Night and the English version of Et Je T'aime Encore and some then-inedit songs that were recorded for the previous album, A New Day Has Come, such as Coulda Woulda Shoulda, Have You Ever Been In Love and the original version of Sorry For Love.

Those I just mentioned are the facts we know for sure, but there're lots of mysteries concerning this album: Which songs were recorded specifically for the album? Why did they include the song Have You Ever Been In Love in it when it was already available in the previous album and also released it as a single from OH? What about the inexistent promotion for singles like Stand By Your Side and Faith? Was the cover picture taken from the Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) video? What about the song Sabes Cómo Es El Amor?

Agree. One Heart is very weak compared to Celine's other hits. Some people say that it's a 100% commercial album. But at least she made effort to change herself, and some songs like I Drove All Night, I Know What Love Is, Stand By Your Side, Je t'aime encore are good. We can't always expect too much of her.

Someone told me that Have You Ever Been In Love was very good and should have been ANDHC's single, but the MV wasn't ready yet. After Celine finished the MV, they put the song into One Heart as its single. I'm not sure if it's true though.

Hmmm I remember Javito and me playing investigator about where which song was recorded, which gave clues on where (and when) it was recorded (for ANDHC or OH)    But I can't remember which thread that was   Céline recorded about 25+ songs for ANDHC, so it's logical they had enough for a 'second' album.

I do know that CWS was supposed to be on ANDHC but got scrapped in favour of Ten Days, which was recorded as one of the last songs.

IKWLI is rumoured to have been recorded originally for ATW.

I think that they put HYEBIL on OH because they believed in the song to become a (hit) single and because it was featured in AND.... IMO that song is a classic Céline song, and could have been big if they released it instead of GTSW and if it had a better video clip


dengyq918, I don't think that's true, because they released and recorded an video clip for IDAN before they released HYEBIL... like I said, I do believe they wanted the song as a single, so that's why they put it on OH aswell.

Those are the kind of questions that I would die to see a journalist ask Céline/René in an interview, someday, instead of the usual baby/family boring talk. But it ain't gonna happen. I guess we won't know for sure these details, unless a real FAN gets the chance to interview both of them someday and have set of questions related with her MUSIC!

Though about the picture cover of the album, there's a mix of scenarios in here... The Chrysler photoshoot and the One Heart pictures are the same. If you remember well there's a picture taken during the Chrysler photoshoot where Céline wears and dresses the same way, with that blouse and scarf around the neck. So the Chrysler photoshoot was taken sometime around late 2002, before the GTSW video was released, and they used some scenes of that Chrysler sessions for the videoclip too (notice that a Chrysler car appears at the beginning and during the videoclip with Céline too)

I do remember about that! That was because some songs appeared to have in the credits the same team of people and recording studios in Montreal and Stockholm than the songs in ANDHC...

My dream is to see one day a re-release of ANDHC with 2 discs, one with the original album and a second disc with all the songs that were unreleased, including those that are in One Heart ... Something like "ANDHC II"

That's right, I really wish someday somebody asks her that type of questions during an interview, maybe something like this!!. That type of things rock for us the fans! But these days it's quite unusual.

Always loved the "One Heart" album but it was yet another example from Sony on how to not promote Celine's material. Admittedly "I Drove All Night" was a great choice as a first single and should've probably done better than it did, however the music video was terrible although Celine did look great in it. The problem was consistency. Sony US promoted "I Drove All Night" but none of the other Sony branches around the world seemed to bother with it.  In the UK we didn't get a single release prior to the album.  Rather bizarrely Sony UK released the single "One Heart" here 6 months after album release and although they packaged "I Drove All Night" with it the single release was very much focussed on "One Heart."  Then, as we are all becoming used to, the album was qucikly forgotten about.

Of course, as is now also becoming the normal, there were numerous missed opportunities with the album.  The biggest one for me personally was the inclusion then complete ignoring of "Reveal." Why record such a brilliant upbeat song which had a very current sound at the time when Celine has so few upbeat songs and then completely ignore it? It would've been a fabulous opportunity to market a new sound from Celine around the world whilst she was busy with "A New Day..."  Instead we got re-hashed material from the previous album when they released "Have You Ever Been In Love" - a decision which still baffles me.  

Like it or loathe it "One Heart" is probably Celine's most complete "pop" album to date.
