As far as I can see, you are an expert of discerning what is "real" tuff and fake

You are very precious for this

A lot of sellers (or organizations) are scamming with shipping costs. I have dealt with that a few times aswell... sometimes I got some of my money back, most of the time not

My advice in this department is to contact the seller if there is a cheaper way of shipping, cos IMO registered shipping is hardly ever needed. But in your case, they probably would have asked too much for that aswell.
Thank you for warning us about them! Maybe there is a consumer alliation in Australia that can help you?
I paid the small excess in shipping cost you paid me once back to you, Davey. I really do not remember anymore which item I sold to you but it was through eBay. I remember you asking me to get the refund and me doing this promptly. When listing the item on eBay I needed to fill in a vast amount for the shipping cost but in practice it differed somewhat from the actual cost. I feel you because I know myself what profit some sellers make out of the so-called shipping expenses they have to make.
The two words 'shipping cost' are what I h-a-t-e (= do not l-o-v-e - sounds better!) the most when I do business with people through various channels around the world.
I am digging into this thread because I wanted to talk about a... bad seller! In fact, I know two! One of both names I already saw mentioned some days ago somewhere out here in a flash, but I will tell more in another post. Stay tuned.

Watch out for this person with the following (correct ? - I probably will never know) contact information:
PRESUMED Name: German Morales - no good morals are to be found in this person's head...
PRESUMED E-mail: foolslullaby@hotmail.com - I should have known what was coming just by analyzing this address...
Discogs nickname - FACT: sanremo1991
PRESUMED Address: "ayuntamiento 32 - centro - cuauthemoc - Distrito Federal - 04533 - Mexico"
Check out a copy-paste of this person's (only!) feedback on Discogs. FYI: 'firstofone' = my nickname on Discogs, and the feedback you see here = really mine.

A true thief. I claim a refund through PayPal. Seller simply doesn't respond as time passes. I will spread any information I have about this person to bring him/her to other people's attention.

There are at least two persons that I know of who had a similar experience with the same seller. According to one of them the seller is a woman. From what I know I can't tell and I probably never can.
The story, not my dream:
Events took place not long after I created a profile and started inventorying my Celine collection on Discogs. I was (and still am to this date...) looking for a copy of the Mexican Dreamin' Of You promo cd. One day I got a notification from Discogs that someone put it up for sale. I contacted the seller through the proper channel on Discogs and he/she and I came to an agreement about the price. I paid the seller using my PayPal account. Following my payment I got a message from the seller in which he/she cited a tracking number for the package containing my cd. About this number the seller said that I could only put it to use from the moment the package crossed the borders of my country. Only weeks later I realized how weird this sounded! My common sense now tells me explicitly that a tracking number allows one to pinpoint the exact whereabouts of a package at any time and during the entire journey it makes - from the sender's dispatching place to the addressee's place of receipt, not only within the borders of the addressee's country. Also in the same message the seller stated that it could take four to six weeks until the package would arrive at the address I gave up as my shipping address. It turned out that this was the last message I would ever get from this (non-)seller. Seven weeks after my PayPal payment to the seller I still did not receive my cd. Naturally I wanted to make contact with the seller. I tried by sending him/here a message on Discogs but got no reply. I tried again and again on Discogs to get a reaction and also wrote messages to the hotmail address I saw mentioned on his/her Discogs pages but never got a single letter in reply anymore. At that point I realized something was very wrong and that I probably - for the first time - was ripped off.
In short this seller's modus operandi:
- seller places a cd for sale
- you as buyer pay for it
- seller makes you feel comfortable about the sale by giving a tracking number and tells you that the cd arrives only weeks later so that he/she does not have to worry for a while or for any other reason but a good one
Eventually it all turned out well for me because PayPal gave me a full refund but still I wanted to warn you about this person. I notice he/she still has his/her profile on Discogs and although it is static for many weeks since the incident you never know it starts moving again some day!
I think that I spread enough negativity for now! For a positive note to compensate: act like me and put on any Celine song, it will surely do the trick and many positive notes will come to you! :-)

Illogical is on Discogs.. Don't buy anything from him there, unless you want his policies to increase the -fortunately- reasonable prices on that market!

I'm new to Discogs, having spent all my life shopping from eBay, eil and musicstack
Is it reliable? I get the feeling reading some of your comments that sellers there may be more wicked?
eBay has the money back guarantee and other measures to protect the buyer but what are Discogs security measures?
Thanks a lot for your help

I ordered Be The Man (CD Japan Mini) from this seller, and Amazon tell that the shipping will take 2 month. I said, Ok, maybe Japan to Canada it's more long than other country, and it's the first time I ordered from that country. After the 2 months passed, I received nothing and the seller offered me fastly and quickly a refund when I contact him.. I highly doubt they don't had this item in stock, and put my order like "Shipped". And it sell again the same CD on Amazon. Beware this seller, because he waste your time!
