  So, so, so, so, so, so confused! I know Celine really wasn't a big shoe-in to participate, but none of those people can be considered DIVA'S! Especially Miley!    I would have rather listened to Mariah or Whitney, but MILEY......IT'S THE CLIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBBB....................................

Kelly, Leona, Beyonce, Christina would be acceptable. In today's time (excluding Celine/Mariah/Whitney) those four have the best voices, regardless of how long they have been around for.

the only slightly positive thing about miley being included in this mix is that her being on with/before/after those others will show how truely crappy she sounds and how unworthy she is of the attention she gets as a quote "singer" unquote

I agree but I still think Divas 99 and 02 were really good shows. They'll never top the 98 show. This current Divas will be the worst yet.

There are a few things to think about here:  1)  This list is who agreed to perform.  Celine very well may have been asked and declined - we all know she's on a break.  Whitney and Mariah could've been asked and declined.  We don't know for sure.   2)  Yes, these people are young but think about when the first one came out - who the heck was Shania Twain at that point?  She was only 1 out of 5, yes, that's true.   But many people today would consider Kelly Clarkson a bona fide diva.  She has sold millions of records and virtually every song she releases is a #1 hit for weeks!  She may not be to my taste, but I can't deny her talent and popularity.  And, you know how many people hate our girl, Ms. Dion.  If she were announced to be on the show, a lot of people would puke their guts out.

The most important thing to remember is that, no matter who performs on the show, it is a benefit performance.  It is raising money for one of the most important causes out there - keeping music programs in schools and helping to pay for instruments so that young people can grow up to be Celine, Whitney, Elton, etc.   Boycotting it because you don't like the performers will only hurt those kids.

Shania wasn't a nobody by Divas Live. She had the huge hit You're Still the One, and she was cranking out other hits from her Come on Over album. She was well known enough that she could keep her own next to the stars. And if it's about asking people, why even ask people like Miley Cyrus? They could get more viewers if they asked somebody like Taylor Swift, because she appeals to more demographics than Miley, therefore more money for the kids. And yes it is for the kids, but who wants to watch a show where they only like 2 out of the 4 performers? Most people who have heard about the new show aren't watching because of Miley being on it, and because of no Mariah/Whitney. VH1 Made a very stupid move for their Save the Music Foundation.

I am happy with the lineup. They may not be huge superstars in the league of you-know-who, but at least the show may be entertaining. I don't really like Miley Cyrus a lot, but the inspirational ballad "The Climb" has been a multiformat smash which will draw viewers.
