The end of that video is so cute... It looks like Celine is in her own world for a few seconds and then snaps out of it. But I have a question: What does Zachary say at the end? I cannot hear what he says.

Thank you so much for the links! I don't think the song will ever become one of my very favourites but I do think it's very nice. It's awesome that Céline does something different like this. I love her voice in the song!    And she looks absolutely stunning in the making of video!

Richard: That’s raised a lot of eyebrows. It’s a relationship based in Quebec. Celine was 10 years old when she had her first hit, so she was singing my songs at an early age. I’ve known her for a while — we’re not drinking buddies, but our paths have crossed.

Last August, we performed together for the first time at the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec. We sang a couple of songs.

I knew the girl could sing, but I didn’t know how she would do in my world. When we did that show in August, I was really touched. She just knocked me out. She came into my world and just owned it. Not only was she a great singer, but she is also a great artist. Even if you don’t like her style, you have to admire her discipline. She works harder than anyone I know.

TOA: Was there anything about the song you chose, Acadiana Driftwood, that made it the right song to do with her?

Richard: At that point, I thought the record was done. I didn’t want to undertake another song, especially with the most famous singing diva in the world.
Then, my wife said, Acadiana Driftwood. I had been playing that song since 1985. I’m a huge Robbie Robertson fan. I pitched it to Celine, and she loved the idea.
It’s a great song, beautiful melody, wonderful lyric. It speaks of the Acadian story, which is obviously close to my heart, and Celine has Acadian heritage as well.
The song is a testament to courage and compassion and courage and forgiveness. It sounds corny, but it’s not only a great song, but it promotes the values of courage and compassion.

We did it in March. She’s amazing. People will say it, but it’s true: she works hard. She showed up an hour and a half early. The session was 9 p.m. She stayed for five hours. She could have done it in a half hour. She’s got some pipes.

Earlier this year, Celine recorded a duet version of "Acadian Driftwood" with her long time friend Zachary Richard. It was after performing together at the 'Céline sur les Plaines' concert last summer that Richard decided to invite Celine to record this touching song inspired by Longfellow's poem, Evangeline.
