Céline's Blues Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:27 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:27 PM (edited) The Rolling Stone just published a Top100 of best singers of ALL time featuring the names of Franklin, Aguilera, Houston and Carey. Céline's name has been completely ignored. You can see the whole list here: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/24161972 Guess why? Cuzz the madame herself doesn't give a flying poop about the music, about her voice, about her image and about her songs. No, it's not about finding your way to a Rolling Stone list complied by the editors but you BETTER find your way to this list considering it was not the editors who had complied it. These were music specialists, known hip singers and music critics. No Céline. Just keep it going. Marvellous achievement. She can pin herself that right on top of her forehead along with the staggering sales of her last "hit collection". the best is yet to come on the graveyard of Las Vegas' casinos resorts. With a small difference, tho: Eliv and Frank sinatra are legends and Céline Dion has made an impact comparable to a fruit fly on the history of music. Upon her own very wish. Kyle_Jared Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:48 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:48 PM (edited) Well well mr. negative such a fine post from you, LOL. Did you notice Barbara Streisand was not on that list......yet she has more platinum records that all of them....? Plus Oscars, emmys and GG's? Rolling Stone "editors" HATE Celine Dion. Celine Dion has made 'history' whether you or they want to admit it. music industry GIANTS have admitted that (David Foster, Tommy Mattola, GEORGE MARTIN (HELLOooooooooooo he produced the Beatles!) The Bee Gees........and the list goes onnnnnnnnnnnn and onnnnnnnnnnn. Do you REALLY think a magaznie list has any real significance? This is a joke! Bellamy Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:52 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:52 PM Sorry, The Rolling Stone always hates Celine. That's a fact. Read their reviews for all her albums, you'll know why they didn't include Celine on the list. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Céline's Blues Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:52 PM Author Posted November 12, 2008 at 04:52 PM You may dismiss it as "not a big deal", Kyle, but the fact that it was NOT the editors who complied the list led me to the conclusion that the omission of Céline's name is something that should NOT happen to a singer whose tour is allegedly sold out throughout the whole American continent. Her impact as we know it is being ignored and she doesn't seem to be interested at all in the upshot. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Bellamy Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:00 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:00 PM Aretha Franklin as #1 make the list a joke. John Lennon, Elvis... deserve to be much higher than her. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
autumnskies00 Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:26 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:26 PM They are obviously bad journalists being so biased. It is in the research that Celine is the NUMBER ONE selling female artist of all time. That would put her on the list way above the others if they didn't put their own music tastes into this article. So lame. Quote http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b213/autumnskies00/siggy1-2.jpg
Davey84 Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:27 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:27 PM No, it's not about finding your way to a Rolling Stone list complied by the editors but you BETTER find your way to this list considering it was not the editors who had complied it. These were music specialists, known hip singers and music critics. music specialists? the person below the name is the music specialist?! under aretha franklin Mary J. Blige was names, I dunno but since when is she a music specialist? other names were alicia keys and bono well I don't like them and I don't give a flying rats @$$ about their music nor their musical taste! and is there a normal list, I aint clicking 102 times! Are Cher and Tina Turner even in the list? they changed musical history! And besides, no one can ever compile a list of 'true top 100 singers' unless you go all technical and stuff like that... otherwise it's all subjective Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Edwin Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:46 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 05:46 PM The Rolling Stone just published a Top100 of best singers of ALL time featuring the names of Franklin, Aguilera, Houston and Carey. Céline's name has been completely ignored. You can see the whole list here:http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/24161972 Guess why?So Rolling Stones chose the music specialists to question, and then somehow determined from the list the ranking order. The better question is how was this process done??! It still seems very selective to me, even if the editors themselves didn't decide who to put on the list... Quote
celine4evauk Posted November 12, 2008 at 06:08 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 06:08 PM You're right. Celine doesn't give a flying fig about being the no.1 this or the no.1 that anymore. She used to, not now. Celine herself says she's had a career beyond all expectation, that she has nothing to prove anymore, and that she just wants to keep her true fans happy. I applaud her for that. Why should she worry about being on a list? If i had her career i wouldn't be. Quote
dj4celine Posted November 12, 2008 at 06:19 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 06:19 PM IMO, if you check the list, it seems to be a joke, actually. Music specialists? Who were they? Elvis Presley at #3, John Lennon at #5, Freddie Mercury at #18, Bob Marley at #19, Van Morrison at #24 and no Chris Cornell or Jeff Buckley in the Top 30 but Aretha at #1... thank you. I already have enough proof for its credibility. Like Davey said, it's totally subjective and I wouldn't care about any lists, especially one that is made by The Rolling Stones magazine Quote

fabtasticfoo Posted November 12, 2008 at 08:37 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 08:37 PM This list is a joke. Celine is not the only notable omission, and there are scores of mediocre (at best) singers included for their overall impact on popular music. This hardly surprises me- everything she ever does is dismissed or ignored by the 'popular' sect- doesn't stop me from humming along to Seduces Me while rubbing myself with baby oil though.... Filine Posted November 12, 2008 at 09:01 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 09:01 PM It's just another list made by people with opinions, and I figure that even if Céline herself would make it her #1 priority to score and promote again they would simply ignore her likewise...it doesn't make any difference... CelionDion Posted November 12, 2008 at 09:17 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 09:17 PM Rolling Stone Taking Chances review: 1 star out of 5 Celine Dion calling her new album Taking Chances? That's like a Zac Efron musical called Making Cops s*** Their Pants, or a Lil Wayne mix tape titled Bumming Bus Fare From My Mom. Celine's shtick is as safe a bet as there is in the music biz, coming a mere six months after her last album, the Canadian chart-topper D'Elles. Alas, her cat-strangling whine is still a remarkably ugly sound, no matter what she's singing. The days are gone when she had her pick of material, ruining perfectly nice pop-trash ballads from Diane Warren or Jim Steinman — no songs here by either of them, and Linda Perry's "New Dawn" is a Nineties leftover. She interprets Ne-Yo ("I Got Nothin' Left") and the Dream ("Skies of L.A.") with awful results. She goes back to Eighties schlockmeister Aldo Nova for "Can't Fight This Feelin'," which is unfortunately not an REO Speedwagon cover. But that's nothing compared to Dion shrieking the ten millionth version of Heart's "Alone" (mad pitchy, dog!), produced by ex-Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody — Amy Lee, meet the fugliest bullet you ever dodged. ROB SHEFFIELD (Posted: Dec 13, 2007) Rolling Stone A new Day Has Come review: 2 stars out of 5 No matter how awful the new Celine Dion album sounds, you have to admit: It took real artistic integrity not to do a September 11th song. For that alone, C-Boogie earns both of her stars. The grande dame of global schlock pop, never previously noted for her discretion, has returned after a brief hiatus from the music biz, a vacation we all enjoyed as much as she did. For A New Day Has Come, she assembles a team of songwriters that will astound any connoisseur of Eighties pop trash: Here's Aldo Nova, there's Corey Hart, can't forget Mutt Lange and, holy Christ, it's Charlie Dore, who sang "Pilot of the Airwaves" in 1980! Lange contributes "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)," sure to inspire many hours of dull debate with Bernie Taupin. Dion's voice is still just furniture polish -- she doesn't have the pipes for material defined by Etta James ("At Last") or Nat "King" Cole ("Nature Boy"). But give her credit for knowing where to draw the line. ROB SHEFFIELD (Posted: Apr 10, 2002) Quote http://showstalker.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/celine-dion-doctorate-laval-univ-2.jpg

takeachance Posted November 12, 2008 at 09:24 PM Posted November 12, 2008 at 09:24 PM Celine obviously isnt COOL enough for Rolling Stones magezine!!!! To of ignored her in that list is total Horse s***, its not about record sales, promotion or Celine giving a s***, Its about her VOICE and she belongs very HIGH up on that list, Bias journalists as someone earlier mentioned are not very professional if they are printing lists with their own opinions I doubt it VERY much that music specialists dont think Celine is one of the best singers of all time. That makes ZERO sense. A magezine I certainly will never take any notice of again, cause there opinions are up their asses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
