I ordered the past wednesday another copie of the SSDA MiniDisc, to replace the broken case that my original copie has since years. The copie I had was a Columbia edition (European), and I thought that that was all what was made about MiniDisc releases of Céline. But not only I found that they had also released US editions, but also EPIC in UK released their own versions! Because I received an EPIC edition of this MiniDisc



Probably there's not an US pressage of this album in MiniDisc (as with the other french albums), but there are US pressages of Unison, Celine Dion, TCOML, FIY, LTAL... as well as the Columbia and EPIC editions in Europe. So 3 different editions for many of her albums in this MiniDisc format is far beyond what I could expect of such a rare and limited format

Now, this is what I received the other day, when I got the LTAL boxset too:

There are no words to describe how I felt when I found this picture some weeks ago (need to take some quality photos). It's the 4th thing I "discover" from this album, after the unreleased photoshoot and two songs . Since 2002 I knew that this album was supposed to have been released in this format, but never saw a picture or someone who claimed to have a copie. Now its something real! It looks fantastic, absolutely gorgeous
This is the US pressage, since it has the 16 tracklisting and cat. number EM 86400 (the US CD cat. number is EK 86400). But its made in Austria, as the european editions of Columbia and Epic, so I don't know if there are Columbia/Epic editions released in Europe with the 17 tracklist But being my favourite album, and probably the last one made in MiniDisc, this is more than enough to me

I don't really care for mini-discs, cos I can't play them and they are out of production already... but they look cool!

Yeah and I thought the last year of production was 2001, but since Céline's 2002 album is in this format too, things change. But I'm sure this must have been a strictly limited production. I wonder how many other albums were released in MiniDisc format in 2002... I don't think many more!

And about the MD player, I only have one Sony model, precisely from 2002, but I bought it initially only for recording purposes, not for playing albums in this format. However, I admit that the sound is great. But since we have iPods and all that, this was doomed to be History.

And yes they look so cool! The disc is like a small compact disc housed inside a cartridge, like a floppy disk And the case is like one of a cassette, but bigger and without holes in the artwork.

So all in all it has the looks of a CD but with better quality, seems like a cassette but bigger, and the disc unit has the ressemblance of an old Gameboy videogame. It has all!

MD audio quality is not better than CD audio quality. Atrac3  format it uses is not a loseless audio format.

Yeah the price increased but I was refunded the difference under the price promise thing. Plus I didn't get caught for any customs charges thank goodness.

Celine only wrote the title track, but it sounds amazing. Definatley a stand out track.

I only got the chance to listen to the first 7 songs before I had to leave for work, but so far I'm loving it.

BTW isn't it annoying that the EDM sticker won't peel off the plastic seal? I put double sided tape on the back of the plastic seal and cut around it, then popped it back on the jewel case. Job done!
