Oh indeed any of those would be nice. Lovely in fact.

But you know how it works, we ask for filé, they bring us the bones. We will probably get the "live" version from the AND LILV cd, if anything special at all.

perhaps you could also take to them the feeling of the fans that a GH album isn't really what we want. maybe more visual material etc and so forth.

Hi Guys

Having finally had the chance to sit down and read through the pages of replies on this topic....I have to say that I agree with many of you, who have said they do not want a ''Greatest Hits'' album, which has the same old songs that have appeared on the ''All The Way'' and ''The Collectors, Volume One'' albums.
ie ''The Power Of Love'', 'Because You Loved Me'', ''All Coming Back To Me'', ''My Heart Will Go On'' etc....

Its totally pointless and boring, even if its given a fancy new album cover/sleeve and a different title..... fans will not want to buy another album like this!!

I would much prefer  ''The Collectors Volume 2'' or I dunno something like ''Celine Dion 2002 - 2008'' album (obviously given a better title, lol) like a few members have suggested, it makes sense, and would cause alot more interest, especially as its so soon, after releasing the ''Taking Chances'' album.

A mix of her singles from 2002 to the present ie, ''A New Day Has Come'', ''I'm Alive'', ''I Drove All Night'', ''Have You Ever Been In Love'', ''Taking Chances'',  ''Alone'', ''One Heart'', and a french single... with a live song or two from ''A new day...'' like ''I Surrender'' or ''River Deep Mountain High''.
As well as performances/rare recordings from the past 6 years, for example ''Dance With My Father'', ''I Believe In You - with Il Divo'', ''If I Can Dream - with Elvis'', ''Summertime'' - (from the telethon), ''Let You're Heart Decide'', ''I Knew I Loved You'',  ''Eyes on me'' - (Remix with Will.i.am), and ''The Show Must Go On/This Is A Man's World'' - (from the current worldtour) for example would be amazing on one album!

But with Celine touring until early next year, its gonna prove difficult (I think) to get her in the studio to record any new songs, but if she can, thats even better!
But a video is definatley possible, even if she does not star in it herself....

So there has to be a song that promotes the album with a good video, and I think personally that ''I Aint Gonna Look The Other Way'' was a huge missed opportunity and I know many of you feel the same!
It is definatley no.1 material, and to have that released as a single, and have a great video and promotion to match, would make this an incredible album I think.

If they want to really sell a new Celine album, I think this is fresh, interesting, and the way forward....

I have said this to sonyuk, and its still early days, so lets hope, when a final decision has been made regarding the next Celine album, I just hope that all parties are happy!

I have thought it over, and since my original idea has pretty much no chances to get real (the B-sides, rarities, live versions and hits album) I would advice that Celine should record again all of the songs about to be included.
Many (I mean MANY) artists have done so with their GH albums.
This would be the ONLY reason to buy another compilation with the same songs, if it had new versions

well no... look at Alanis Morissette... she rerecorded Jagged Little Pill... eventhough all the arragements are totally different, the album doesn't scream WOW... if she had done a live acoutic set with the full album, then I think it would have been much more special. I don't want a rerecording of songs she has sung a 1000 times... I'd rather have special live version then, or a new remix

I agree with grobandion, IF (and there's a big if here) all of her past hits must be included, then PLEASE make them be new recordings of them

Sony u.s obviously don't listen to us, judging from chuck taylors last encounter with them regarding the next u.s single....
But sony uk asked me to find out wat we thought, so lets just wait and see.

I gave my opinion about this possible "Greatest Hits". What I want to add is that many of you posted tracklists which were anything but a "greatest hits" list: B-side, songs that weren't released as singles... I think Sony BMG UK should point it out: do they want a list of our favourite songs or a list of the latest "greatest hits" from Celine? And why asking fans? Is it so hard to look at her most recent albums and make a list of the singles released?

BTW, the most odd this is that Sony BMG UK is asking us that. Since when Sony BMG UK has the power of decisions over Celine's worldwide releases? I guess this will be a local UK release. Am I right, Ire23?

I'll ask my contacts at Sony BMG Canada about this, and report this poll from Sony BMG UK to them. I'm sure you won't mind, Ire23.

Sony uk has not got entire control over all the other sony offices in the world or the final decision over her worldwide releases!! But if its a choice/decision for the uk/europe market only, they obviously do have the power....

But they obviously all have meetings, between there offices in the different countries regarding there artists etc, so sony uk asked what the fans on this board would like.... so maybe it can be brought up at there next meeting, its that simple.......hence this topic

But as i said before its still early days, and info. is still sketcy at this stage.

The president of Sony BMG Continental Europe is mr. Maarten Steinkamp, former president of RCA Netherlands and of Sony BMG Germany. Tho, he will exit Sony BMG this summer because his contract will be over. You can find many articles on the web related to mr. Steinkamp's role in Sony BMG. He was one of the sources who gave me many info that I posted here on the forum about Celine. Now I can reveal this because he's gonna leave. He's a kind person.

And, please, consider that the DVD market is different from the CD market.

I think it's fabulous that Sony UK are asking for our thoughts on ANY Celine related releases / decisions through Darren. He's under no obligation to share the info they give him with us, but he does and I personally thank him for that.

With regards another "greatest hits" album (and although I posted a tracklist a few pages back) I really dont see the need. It almost stinks of desperation to keep Celine in the charts which I am assuming is the whole point of the project. If that is the case then keep on pushing tracks from "Taking Chances", there is still plenty of life in that album yet if only they get behind it again. If it's not about the charts or keeping Celine relevant then simply do what the fans here are asking and release a "Collectors Series Volume 2" full of rarities and B sides, now THAT will sell.
