8:00 p.m. GMT) Celine Dion fans had waited 10 years for the superstar to return to Australian stages. So, an extra 24-hour wait after Dion postponed her Rod Laver Arena show with serious voice issues was a minor inconvenience. Dion hit the stage tonight minus the surgical mask that's been her constant companion in her quest to avoid germs while holed up in her Australian hotel rooms. "If you have to get sick, let it be in Australia," Dion said.

That million-dollar voice (her true believers paid between $300 and $400 for the best seats last night) of hers appeared match fit as she hit her trademark glass-shattering high note in All By Myself. Her fans had their patience rewarded with a long set that mixed her anthems (It's All Coming Back To Me Now, Because You Loved Me and, of course, the finale, My Heart Will Go On) with new songs, including Eyes on Me, penned by Delta Goodrem.

A rumoured powerhouse duet with support act Anthony Callea on The Prayer, a song they've both recorded, sadly didn't eventuate, though Dion hailed him a great talent. Dion, who turned 40 at the weekend, has no pretensions about being cool, pulls daggy faces and busts out cheesy air guitar and fist pumps. While the Melbourne show lacked the spectacle of her Vegas residency, she belted out everything from covers of Heart's Alone and Ike and Tina Turner's River Deep Mountain High to a Queen tribute in which Dion channelled her inner rock star.

whahah i remember one time at a concert of Madonna, security was in front of us, and i was trying to get some good pics, he saw that and came to me and asked me i was able to take good pictures, otherwise he would let me in front of the people to take some nice shots... if they would do that all whahah

about the songs from taking chances, the uptempo ones seems they sound more acoustic than uptempo dancy...hope they can change that...

i sooo cant wait for the real central stage...

Here's short my review, which of course includes spoilers, so read on at your own risk.
I was going to do a song-by-song review... but I really don't want to spoil it too much, so I'll just write random highlights.

The intro video is great - Hope the video segments are on the DVD !

The crowd really roared up when Celine appeared on stage.

Taking Chances was great live.

I was a little dissapointed that the It's All Coming Back to Me Now/Because You Loved Me/To Love You More medley stayed pretty much the same as the A New Day show... though the synths in the verses of To Love You More seemed to be more prominent which was kind of cool.

Her first chat with the audience was nice and long.  Though she did repeat a lot from her interview on the Today Show.  It must be tough to always come up with new things to say, so I don't blame her for sticking with what works.  She mentioned how she's always talking about Australia to Renee-Charles and how he's always wanted to come because of that.  She mentioned how he wanted to jump like a Kangaroo, surf like a pro and golf like Tiger Woods.  She also apologised for postponing the show and thanked everyone for being patient.  She said that it was hard being sick and watching the world go by.. but said that if you ever get sick, then Australia is the place to do it.  The mentioned her birthday and the crowd again sang Happy Birthday to her.  She said we could all go on tour with her.  

Someone in the first row ran up and threw a Koala toy to her which she liked... then someone gave her a toy Frog... which she replied "this isn't from Australia !!"...."this is from Canada !"... she also got some flowers.  The Koala and the Frog were given to the Keyboard player to take care of during the show and he placed them on top of the keyboard.  It was funny as when the camera showed him during the show, you saw these cute toys just sitting there on top of the keyboard.  

The flamenco bit before Eyes on Me was cool.  I'd seen the show back in Las Vegas last August and had never heard her sing All By Myself live..... WOW !   She really hit that high note.  Complete perfection !

The next video segment was cool as well, though for a second... when the 'My Heart Will Go On' samples started coming in I was thinking... 'no, she wouldn't do that song halfway through the show'...  then it mixed into I'm Alive, which was a cool remix... though I would still have preferred the 'Wake Up' mix.

Next highlights were Shadow of Love and Alone..... Shadow of Love sounded a bit flat in terms of production, I would have liked to have had more energy during the chorus... and I'm not talking Celine..she was great.. I mean perhaps louder instrumentation... or backing vocals.

When she sang Pour que tu m'aimes encore, she pretty much introduced it almost word for word, the same way she does in the A New Day show.

My Love was great and very emotional !!!

The Freddie Mercury tribute was nice.  -  The crowd stomped and clapped appropriately to We Will Rock You.

River Deep, Mountain High was great as always, albeit in a much smaller scale than in A New Day.

The crowd went absolutely NUTS when the Titanic video intro came on !!!

Celine ended the show in style as always.

Great show !  Great night !!!!

It was the most AMAZING night of my life!!! Words cannot describe what a showstopper this woman is. I am going to concoct a review but you might have to bear with me a moment..

P.S I am the one responsible for the stuffed frog!!!!!

Hey thanks for the review, pretty nice! I didn't notice she remove "It's A Man's Man's World", it's a crime, she can't remove it, it's one of the highlight of the show!! Never do that again Celine LOL

I am still working on the review. However for those interested the merchandise was more expensive in Melbourne it seems. The tourbook was $50 and the babydoll tshirts were around $60-$70!! I got a program and a top.

Yeah shame about Think Twice, though I would have preferred A New Day Has Come.  
But I'm not too fussed about not hearing either of them.

I'm pretty sure she did sing It's a Man's Man's World before That's Just the Woman in Me though.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!! was absaloutely incredible. the most amazing night ever. my first time seeing her live and it was just soooooo amazing.   
well the support act was ok.... he had a good voice and everything, he sang the prayer. but i was to excited to pay much attention.
Then after the interval the lights suddenly went black and a voice came on saying something along the lines of being proud to present Celine Dion and the crowd went nuts.

Then the intro video was played and it was amazing the crowd were all cheering. i hope the video is on the DVD it was so good.
Then she came on stage and again everyone went crazy. i got so excited and started crying lol  
The set list was pretty much the same, but they didnt have think twice.
She sounded Phenominal...she talked quite a bit. she said how hard it is to peform sometimes and it takes alot of hard work but that it is harder to cancel or postpone a show, she sounded really sad, she went on to say how greatful she was for a second chance.  she thanked people for the flowers they had tried to give her.

Then someone walked forward to give her a teddy koala, then "Superstarleash" through up her teddy frog for her and Celine accidently missed and said see what happens when you turn 40 then she caught it and she was like now this isnt australian lol and she said about it being her lucky charm. Then she said to Mego your close to 40 i can trust you and she gave the teddies to him and he put them on either side of his piano. Then the crowd started singing happy birthday to her and she said this is better than a cake this show is really turning out to be something.

When she sang ABM the crowd seriously went nuts, and you know the line where there is no backing and she holds those amazing notes...you should have heard the crowd everyone was so amazed. was fantastic. when she sang "My Love" she was kneeling on the stage and it was a very emotional peformance from her.

When Celine got everyone up dancing for LCMM it was really good then RDMH came on and loads of people were still up and the lady behind me scratched my back and said she couldnt see!    but it was really good and i got back up as she got a standing ovation except from the lazy people behind me. she got the mike stick which was covered in sparkly diamonties of some sort she span it around in her hands was really cool. her dancing was really good throughout actually.

Then the intro video came on for MHWGO and the crowd went crazy...really excited. Celine walked out in the yellow dress which is stunning and she looked like an angel walking down...again the crowd went crazy. Then it was all over and the crowd really went wild.

Was so amazing, went so quickly though and there was so much to take in. i wish i could go to another show.

Ok im very sorry i have rambeled on alot and its ended up being a bit of an essay...sorry    well done if you get this far lol

also the cameras were very easy to get in...but pretty impossible to use. because people were patroling everywhere and came upto everyone who they saw taking pictures and also if they saw mobile phones. they were so strict on it and the people got quite a telling off lol

k god HOW DO I START and how do i end honestly?

the min i saw her come out i broke out, i could not let it in...

her performances were FRKN her greatest!!!!!!!!!!!   

her voice, my god, her energy and the things she said, every word was like a song

i sang MY HEART OUT with most of the songs, i didnt care about the ppl aroud me, i was singing as if i were in my bedroom i was going up and down, moving my arms, haha it was CELINE/DEREEN's night!!!

so, hmm it was a very emotional night for me and i wish it could go on forever  

LMAO if anyone here saw a girl waving and talking on the phone just b4 celine arrived on stage to some ppl it was me waving at incognito69 and his mate!

oh as for pix, i took some of Anthony...BUT the min i took my cam out and b4 it flashed stupid security lady comes and tells me off-3 warnings and ur out   Yup i was shattered!

but i did take like 2-3 pix just b4 she finally left the stage, ill post sometime soon today, but they look crap coz i didnt even know what i was doing!   YES KILL ME PLZ lol

oh in the begining i was gonna shout out to celine 'I LOVE YOU' but someone else said it b4 me DAMN it and then in the middle of the show i was just gonna shout out 'you look great for 40 celine' but she mentioned the fact that she's turned 40 and yer there was just no time for me  

well, anyway im still in my celine world, memories coming back to me and all and now im fading away bc its all done  

like celine, i could go on and on about this...

oh like incognito69 mentioned we had to walk to the place from Flinders, haha it was fun though....we went maccas just b4 she show, had my vegie burger etc.

HAHA P do you remember us going to maccas again after show and seeing the limo pass by? BROADY bro, celine wanted to check out the SICK C*NT side of melbourne!  

anyway, i had the NIGHT OF MY LIFE and even though she's left me ALL BY MYSELF, MY HEART WILL GO ON
