In the ML promo sheet, it was written as 1.3 million sold worldwide. I wonder if it crossed the 1.5 million mark by now

1.3 million sold worldwide is too few? I thought they claimed 3 or 4 million shipped long time ago.

Yeah, and I also don't get why they add 1.3 million sold and after that, 6X platinum. I guess it's just for the US and not worldwide. But the funny thing is, they put Taking Chances sold 3 million copies and we all know that is so not just for the US.

OT:

after i searched for this week's position of the dvd, i went to YouTube to search for Celine's Live 8 performance of Love Can Move Mountains, and i was completely shocked by what i have discovered. Celine was booed by the people watching in London (i guess?). i know this is so lame of me, but i swear i never knew that she was booed in that show (or in any show!). i don't want to spoil this thread, but i just don't know where to post this. what was going on with those f**kng people watching there? i really don't understand why they did it to celine!

That's bec. she performed via satellite for a charity show rather than show up in person. Still...

6X platinum for the DVD is only the US sales. If reaches 350k next week, it will be eligible for 7x platinum certification.

It was called LIVE aide and she was singing on a pre recorded tape. Thats why people booed her.

Do you have other sources that it has sold 1.3 million copies worldwide? I think , 1.3 million sounds believable than 2 million.

Hmmmm.... Sony should inform us now 'cos it's been a while already. Are they not gonna tell us until it becomes the best/top selling music DVD of all time? I hope they'll just tell us the status of the music dvd now.

I thought she was booed because it wasn't a live performance but sattelite feed or whatever. that's what the press reported

last sunday, i went to a mall here in my place (robinson's place bacolod) and there's this JVC mall show (showing their their latest products) and they have they huge LCD TV. well, i was really excited since when i entered the mall, i've heared TPOL playing. Eventually, i saw that they are showing celine's AND Live in Las vegas on their tv sets. all tv screens have celine's image....its was really amazing and there'e a lot of people watching...it was my first time seeing the DVD on big scree. unfortunately, i went to 2 music stores inside the mall but there's no more stocks of the DVD.

The 'A New Day...' DVD has reached the #5 positition in the Dutch Music DVD Top 50 of 2008! Fantasic position!

Both the RIAA and Soundscan issue an end-of-year sales report.  These reports should have interesting info on "Live in Las Vegas - A New Day...," "Taking Chances" and Celine's other CDs and DVDs. Unfortunately, they tend to be too general in nature, often just covering the Top Ten.  

Does anyone know how to access specific information from either of these 2 sources, even if indirectly?  I contaced RIAA once and asked for a list of all Celine's recordings and sales, but their asking price was something $ astronomical.

Where does Wikipedia get its sales info? It is sometimes wonderful, but sometimes just gives rounded estimates.

Why is Celine so under-certified with RIAA?  On the all-time best-selling artist roster, Celine has sold 50 million units, which is great, but why did she get credit for only 0.5 million units when Taking Chances was certified Platinum for sales of one million.  Why did SONY not push for Celine to get credit for the 12 million copies of Titanic? Is this another case of SONY's shocking neglect and mismanagement of Celine?

Also, it looks like Shania Twain is going to overtake Celine in total sales any minute in the RIAA total sales category (Comment est-ce possible?).  We know from Soundscan figures that this is absurd, as Celine has sold far more than Shania (and it's not even close).  But even if we're just looking at "shipped," why are they shipping so much of Shania when our Celine is the real Queen of Sales?
