Her album is so bad, it's not really a surprise that it sold only 400,000 copies worldwide (a total flop). If Cher would have released a strong album fulfilled with top-quality songs (instead of dated fluff a la Living Proof), her album would have easily sold at least 1 million copies in the world.

Cher has used the same formula since 1998 and it stopped working in 2001... It's more than time that she tries a new one...

:wtf:I would not call Cher's latest album 'bad' at all!  It has loads of amazing songs and she sounds great. It's a million times better than Living Proof!

''Sirens'' sounds like a Coldplay's leftover song that could have been released 15 years ago. This song is awfully dated like the rest of her album. No wonder that Cher could have easily released this album in 2000. At least it woudn't have sounded dated back then. :rolleyes:

The Standard Edition of LMBTL = Around 60% Modern, 15% Old-School, 25% Dated. Songs that intentionally have an old vibe is what I call 'old-school', while songs that try to be cool and current but fail is what I call 'dated'. In that sense the songs that sound dated in LMBTL are: Thank You, Overjoyed, At Seventeen, Unfinished Songs. The 'old-school' ones would be 'Thankful' and 'Always Be Your Girl'. Tracks 1-7 are modern, new for Celine on some level (Either vocally or lyrically or musically) and we all know they could have been recorded by either Rihanna or Adele. This alone speaks volumes about their freshness and overall potential. :)

Cher says her record label "hasn't got a great deal of interest in my CD" and that the "decision makers" at the company "don't seem to care that much."

Cher released her most recent album, "Closer to the Truth," last September on Warner Bros. Records. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the diva's highest charting solo album ever.

Cher took to Twitter on Thursday, February 6, to gripe about her label, but noted that "not all" of the folks at the company are unsupportive, adding that "there (are) hard working adorable" people there, too.


So far, "Closer to the Truth" has sold 285,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. It debuted with 63,000 in its first week. The album was her first studio release since 2002's "Living Proof." Cher has been with Warner family of labels since 1996.

Warner Bros. Records has not responded to an email request for comment.

"Closer to the Truth" has notched two hit singles on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart: "Woman's World" hit No. 1 last year, and "Take It Like a Man" recently peaked at No. 2 for two weeks.

Cher's been extra busy as of late, preparing for her upcoming Dressed to Kill concert tour, which kicks off on March 22 in Phoenix. The trek will be her first since her successful Farewell Tour, which circled the globe from 2002 through 2005.

Exactly. 'Livin' Proof' was great but it had a couple of forgetable songs actually. Not bad but forgetable ;)  And 'Closer To The Truth' is so much better than 'Livin' Proof' :) So when my ex listened to 'Closer To The Truth' and later texted me the album is not even half as great as the previous 'Livin' Proof' i could clearly realise once again why he's my EX :wacko: :giggle: And of course there must be those who say 'Closer To The Truth' sounds dated, sounds like someone's leftover, blah-blah-blah... :sofunny:  May 'em live and believe the things they say, Cher will still have a job when they won't :giggle:

Me too! I am hoping the setlist is completely new, although with 14 costume changes I'm worried that she will be off stage for half of the show (like her Vegas show).

I have a feeling they don't want to commit to doing too many shows at once. I'm sure that a European leg will be announced towards the end of this US run, assuming that Cher is coping well. A 15-20 date European tour later this year would certainly be manageable seeing as she's doing 49 in the US.

I finally received my CD and have been listening to it ... and I really like it ... some great songs!!!

Like I said to Tim, it's a big shame there are so little songs of CTTT in the tour and also a bit of a shame she keeps on performing the same old 70 songs, while she has so many good ones!

Maybe if she comes to EUrope, the setlist will change a bit!

You are totally right Davey ... CTTT has so many great songs and it's a shame she is not performing more of them ...

If I were to see her though, I would still enjoy the show for sure ... hopefully I can get the chance to see her sometime ...

I finally saw her on tour! I had seen her once during her Vegas show. But for Dressed to Kill she came to our capital city (an hour away). And next month she'll be in Omaha! OMG, the tour show was better than Vegas for some reason. Her opener was Cyndi Lauper for the Lincoln show. I'm so excited to see her again. I really wanted to hear I Walk Alone. Any chance it's being added?

I still love Cher's music to death, but as a person, Cher has caused me to lose a lot of interest in her and her career.  She has become far too negative and far too abrasive (even for Cher standards).  Furthermore, due to illness or not, the number of cancellations and rescheduled shows lately has become ridiculous.  I also found the setlist of the first leg of the "Dressed To Kill Tour" to be pretty lackluster.  I understand there are definite "required songs", but to not include a new fan-favorite such as "Sirens" anywhere in the show is ludicrous, in my opinion.

I love the 1987 "Cher" album! Its full of great songs; We All Sleep Alone & Bang Bang both produced by Jon Bon Jovi (1st one also written by him) Skin Deep, Dangerous Times and Working Girl :wub2: I'd love Cher to record a rock album again!
