For Ronny : Italian charts

I've found that there are two music company associations in Italy: FIMI and AFI.
FIMI is the association of all the majors and few minor companies. FIMI-Nielsen are their charts. They claim it is the official chart. AFI is the association of all the other companies. They say Musica&Dischi charts are the official charts.

FIMI started in 1995. Musica&Dischi started in 1960. Before 1995 there were many different charts. HitParadeItalia tries to have only one chart from the beginning until now, mixing all the available charts.

So, it's complicated in Italy. Not all the infos are avaliable. I will post what I got, and eventually update it later.

I'll take a look and try to help you. BTW, Fimi-Nielsen is THE official italian chart. Musica & Dischi put together CD and compilations and it's not THE real official chart, just an alternative to Fimi-Nielsen.

I know that FIMI exists since 1995, but archives on their website are only from January 2000 If you could find missing years info, it would be wonderful.

I couldn't find also official website with certifications Do you know any?

Unfortunately it doesn't exist. Here the certifications are given by the labels theirselves, not by an association like RIAA, CRIA, IFPI...

I remember Next Plane Out on the radio, but I never listened to Think Twice.  

I can't see any reason why the French recordings should be popular in Italy: it's not a french-speaking area. We are lucky enough to have her French albums in the chart at least, without any promotion.

BTW, according to the official Miracle italian press release, Céline sold more than 3 million albums here in Italy.

The official chart before FIMI was the one published on the most popular italian TV magazine (TV Sorrisi e Canzoni - www.sorrisi.com).

BTW, I forgot to tell you that I got the official figures for the Miracle book in Italy. The italian publisher told me they released and sold 8.000 copies here. That's quite impressive considering the high price of the book (around 70 euro).    Now the book is sold out and no more available for sale.
