Talk..talk to whoever you can (me, if you like) and start a blog, that is what I do when I am depressed, I just talk and talk until it starts to feel better.

Yes talking is good if you can open full up, and not be embarrassed about what you say, guess you have to full trust in them too, then talking is defo the best medicine.

Hi Maz ... I know it's been awhile since anyone posted on this topic ... just found it and read it ... how blessed you are to have your son... when you feel overwhelmed ... please ... look at your beautiful little boy ... get down on your knees and thank God for giving you the gift of a child.

I do every day, every time i need that drink or feel like there is no point i just look at him, usually when he is asleep and thank good for my little angel,

I'm so glad ... as you know ... I am dealing with an incredible loss ... at times it is difficult to do much more than just get through the minutes and hours of each day and night.

i kinda understand what you mean, just dont start to drink or get too low, its a hard ride back up

Hi Mazceline i´m suffering from depression and i´m taking in medicin for that i´ve had a nervous breakown, my father abused me so i know what you are going through darling yes we should talk about our feelings, Sadness when we need to and help out each other it sounds wonderful.

and you too, i sometimes or should i say only now i believe that taking tablets is the wrong way, for me i got worse had a breakdown then was hooked on the thought that i needed, the pills, that turned to drink, and that now is my biggest demoned, ive been sober only 3months and want to carry on for my little one my angel, if you need to talk im here friend

I was diagnosed as depressive when I was 13, I've been an alcoholic since I was 15. I don't drink anymore but I will always be an alcoholic. I had several things all come at once and turned to alcohol to try and block it out. Later I moved onto drugs and ended up in huge debt which I couldn't afford to pay off. I turned to my oldest friend who lent me the money to get out of debt and helped me out with a place to stay. I am forever thankful that I had him there for me. I have paid him every penny I owed him and even helped him out when he needed it. He's the only person I've really ever been able to rely on.

Even today I still get down, I still want to drink.... I had to visit a client today who runs a pub and we sat at the bar while we worked out a few things.... It was so hard for me to walk away after we had finished without a drink. I have lapsed, but thankfully not often.

Depression sucks big time, especially when people claim it's not a disease but a state of mind when science has proven that it is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and sufferers brains work differently than those who don't.... stupid depression.....

Well for the first time i agree with everything you said, I feel this time im alot stronger to actually keep it up, so i hope this is it, its a shame that i have made so i will never ever be able to drink again, like when out with friends, but it is not worth the risk is it

the other night we had a wild west night at work , and the drinks were on the house, god how do you get past the temptation, i stuck to diet coke, but i found my self inside my head saying, "go on just have one you must be past it now" i felt like i was trying to convince myself it was ok. I didnt drink though i guess deep down i know it would not have been Just one, it would have lasted days if not weeks, dont get me wrong i never get drunk, i have my boy to look after, but what i can drink and stay sober with, would knock most people out, i feel fitter now so im gonna try if not for myself for steven.

Maz, as you will see with my siggy I want you to stay in the light, don't go into the darkness.  Keep up the good work.  As I have read, I think you have been sober for 3 months?  Correct me if I am wrong.

I hate to dredge this up, but this next thing has something to do with what VanMerlin said.: I fought my demons as I was breaking up with my ex-friend Michael.  It has been 1 month since I have been away from the phone and away from Michael's voice.  Praise GOD the almighty.

you know i had done so well, i think talking about it yestaday, was a mistake its no longer 3 months , ive let myself down and all cause, i talked myself into thinking it was ok, i am a waste of space

Maz, just remember one thing...there is no such thing as a step backward, and no such thing as failure. Each time we waver and disappoint ourselves, we learn. When we learn from each mistake, we grow. Growth is a step forward. Take this small lapse in your willpower and learn from it...learn about how you talked yourself into it and how you can stop yourself next time. You've been successful before, you'll do it again, this time for longer. You are not a waste of space because you make a mistake. That's why we're all here. That's why these spaces are made!!

whatever the reason ... you are not drinking at this moment ... and really, Marie, this moment ... this breath is what matters ... forget about one day or one hour or even one minute at a time ... just focus on one second at a time ... one breath at a time ... and know that you are loved ... that you are a gift in this world ...

since i had steven all my friends started partying , i started being a mum, aint got friends really who i would trust to talk open with, glad i came to this site
