Dana, have you ever been in love? Have you ever spent your years loving someone, adoring them, sharing your pain, your burdens, your joys, your fears with them, knowing them and allowing them to know the essence of you...and then lost that person? If that ever happens to you, then you'll be qualified to know the difference between those two pains.

I know one of those types of pain, but I'd never start to claim to know how it feels to experience the other one until I've lived it.

I was blessed to be loved by a wonderful woman and know all too well the pain of losing love so suddenly ... there are times when I am truly overwhelmed by the sadness ... when my heart aches for her ... when I desperately want to feel her arms around me ... to see her once again ... to have more than just pictures and memories ... and while I know that it is better to have loved and lost ... to have experienced that deep love ... it doesn't make it any easier.

Maybe I might not know the difference, but my brother surely does right now.  His wife is not dead, but he is in pain because she quit school and her job and ran back to her parents because her and my brother had a fight and she doesn't know how to handle that kind of situation.  That's why my brother knows that kind of pain.

Actually, Dana, that is yet another kind of pain ... which I have also experienced in my life ... you see, Dana, there are two types of lost love ... when love ends because one or both people walk away from the relationship ... and when love ends because of a death ... both are painful ... but again ... having experienced both in my life ... I assure you the pain is not the same ...

Dana, your brother's situation is not a defined end. A fight can be rectified and he has the chance to continue with her if they both want it. Death, however, leaves no solution. Death is an end that cannot be changed. Death is definite, defined, unable to be argued with or changed. The loss is full and unwavering, healed only by time and inner strength. There is something so powerful about knowing that you'll never see a person's face, hear their voice, know they're thoughts, ever again.

There are many different types of loss. There are different types of emotions for every one of them. There are inumerable types of pain. You, your brother, Patty...all different pains, none the same. And yet we have all suffered. So, while we may not be able to completely understand the situation of someone who speaks to us, or exactly what they're feeling (and we shouldn't assume that we do), we can be empathetic and understand that emotions are special and tender, and deserve to be treated with respect, and we're all more alike than we think.

wow friend, that was beautiful, you have come so far getting through that pain like you say, one breath at a time, i admire you, never have lost a love in that way, and will not try to say i understand, only thing i would hope for is , that she is looking over you, like am angel, and you will be together again one day

and no matter what i say, it would not be right, greif is so hard, when my gran recently died i was mortified, but that is a different kind of love than it would be with a lover/partner, i think we all know what its like to be left from a partner, the hurt, but to know they are trully gone, would be the hardest, like you are going through now, so i fell for you

So all i can say , is if you need to talk talk, talk about her, the good and the bad, and keep talking, and maybe one day it may not be so hard

cant Maz, its 11 at night and its giving me a freakin gastric pain

hell steven does not sleep well wakes up every hour due to being hyper, so i have been known to eat at 3ish, we have our main dinner at like 10am cause he gets up at 4 am
