hi i was wondering if any one out there has suffered from deppression,
I had really bad deppression and had a break down, self harmed, and started taking anti dep tablets like i was hooked,


I think if anyone has a story out there it would be good to share, to show other people suffer from this



Mine mainly was due to my sexuality, not being able to be, also i fell in love big style with a women who did not want to come out so we ended. even though we knew we would always be , i got married to show the world i was straight, had a child (best thing that has happened to me) but still at that point in life where i want to be me, and it gets me down.



Deppression can kill we should all talk to help others know its not just them

I'm just getting over my depression at the moment, I had a large relationship breakdown and I am still trying to deal with everything that that means, all though I am working on it a lot.

Depression is a s*** of a thing, it's really hard to even think that you will ever be happy again, in fact, I have had to teach myself what it even means to BE happy, I am still learning that.

Maz, you already know what im depressed about lately.

the other thing was the constant change of school and house.i was depressed was in 2003. just came back from Beijing after living there for 2 years. couldnt let go of that. and then beginning of this year, i had to leave my best friend cuz i HAD to change schools...AGAIN. that was heartbreaking enough. and to top it off, she called me again to ask for another friend's no. and didnt even ask how was i doing...was really mad and depressed then.

yeah, well, thats my story.

Yes i know i went mad, really mad ended up wondering of for days, ive lost a lot of memory because of the hurt, i self harmed in a bad way drank took pills, i think you never get over your love, you just have to deal with it. if not what is the point and i want to live. It is a bad thing for the mind to cope with you just have to be strong,

lamour, Friends come and go, often they are the ones that will hurt you more, dont take it to heart, you will find better and thoughtful friends again. Plus i know its hard i lost alot of friends when i was ill, at least i know who my true friends are now

I was depresed when I was 15, suicidal and then annorexic.  Terrible terrible time in my life it was

Yes when i worked at my gym i was 18 trying to loose weight by being sick, going through my sexuality, its hard


I think if you suffer from something like that like Miss dion you suffer other things, like major depression amd others , you have done well to sort yourself out..

Hi

I was 21 when my dad died after very long illness. I had helped my mum nurse my dad, as my brother,sister were married, and couldnt help as much. My sister had two small children, brother couldn't cope losing dad. So i was the one that had to be strong for my mum.
To cut it a long story short after we were told my dad had died i ended  up on sleeping pills. I was like a zombie, my brothers marriage broke down and he came back home. He met up with an old flame, we all lived happy at mums. I was still on tablets at this point, then i came down 1 day, just snapped went to take the lot. It was my brother,and his girlfriend that took them of my hands. I more grateful to them, than they will ever know.
It shocked me, scared me, then i relised i had to pull myself together for everyone . It was very hard and long, but through family,friends i got there. After a while i met and married.
There was a light at the end of the tunnel for me, but its was getting there. So thats how i was on depression tablets. I still have days but i am stronger person and i find talking helps. Be strong and talk, you are not alone, we are here to help you.

I think that pills help but are not a long term help, talking is the best medicine, i saw someone about it, didnt think id talk, once i got sat down it all came flooding out i felt so much better

I had a very bad time a few years ago. Dunno if it can be called "depression", but I was really hard, because I had a biiiiiig problem with my weight...

Now I'm 30 kilos lighter than when I was 15! (I'm 20).
So now I'm ok with that. But at that moment it was really terrible. i really hated myself, and thus it was difficult for me to go and talk, meet people, make friends...    It was a sad moment...

Its bad how women go through yhat cause of there weight, i wonder if there any males here that had that problem

I have a long story, so I won't bore you all. hehe.

Basically, yes. I have dealt with depression and still deal with it. I have many, many more happier moments now. Thank God for Celine...I wouldn't be alive without her.

I don't self-injure (self-harm) as much anymore. ((I've self-harmed since I was 8 years old)) I'm at a pretty healthy weight. ((I've dealt with an eating disorder since I was 11)) I don't take pills anymore. I exercise NORMALLY. And suicide is no longer an option for me.

  

Ohhh. And on Celine's birthday I finally started counseling. So, I'm definitely getting everything behind me.

I personally know many males who have problems with their weight. It's more common in women, but it is very prevelant in males as well.

I'm going though that now..finally doing something after a long time unhappy with myself.

Its a shock to realise men do have these problems as well, with me now due to self harm my son asks me what the old scars are how do you explain it to a 3 year old, that is in the past though but still gets to me now

Awh, you poor thing Maz I can't even think what that must be like, so hard.

Me, I am dealing with all my problems one by one and am currently losing weight at the moment..not to mention breaking up with my old boyfriend (we have been friends and close for basically all our lives)

Celineful, i think in this world sometimes a break up feels worse than any other pain, sometimes you have to think is the other person suffering if not i wont, easier said than done, i know, you think that you have found someone who you can be yourself with think it will be forever then pow your world is upside down.. You got to believe one day you will laugh at how upset you got over him, and i hope you do

You know, I have had to learn to to worry about things, especially stuff that has already happened, as my friend always says to me, you just can't change what has happened in the past, you have to embrace it and turn it into a postitive, rather than a negative (this is for you to, Maz). For instance, when your son is old enough, explain to him what depression is and the difficult times that you went through and use it to teach him that it's okay to be sad, and to have problems and not to be ashamed of them, because education is the best gift you can give your child.

Yes i agree, but i dont think that i could, im a great mum i think the best, i want him to look up to me no be ashamed and think i was loopy like people assume you are if you self harm..

Yeah, so what I am suggesting is that, from an early age, you teach him to be proud of you for dealing with your problems.

Wold not call it dealling, you know people have problems you know, but with me i got them all, not just one or two but loads, sexuality , deppression, self harm, controlling abusive husband, weight issues the lot all in one, guess what im still here going on strong, but i have so much to explain to my boy, he will grow up hating me

Maz, use your problems to teach your son empathy, compassion, acceptance, an non-judgement. Turn your pains into his gifts. Teach him how to love those who are pained, imperfect, and show him that everyone battles something inside...which makes us all the same. Teach him how to handle his emotions and give him coping skills so he won't harm himself when he is shattered. Teach him how to be true to himself so he won't be shattered all that often.

Be honest and good with him, and he will love you, always.

So then has anyone any pick me ups that have helped them through hard times, i myself turned to drink blocked out the pain but only for a short while then i got hooked to make things worse, but the one thing that i dare say cured me some what was getting pregnant, i had someone dependent on me, so from that day i decided if i could make a life then mine was worth saving to help look after the new one...

Im not saying everyone run out and get preg, but other things like work helped me, and herbal medicines helped calm me down and stop panic attacks

So anyone got any others that could help others
