I saw this on twitter about the childhood house in Montreal being demolished to build something for the mama dion foundation! I don't know if its true because on the video it doesn't really look like her childhood home.

Hey guys. I saw this video posted on FB, about "Céline Dion's childhood house demolished". But, to me it doesn't look like her childhood house, I mean the surroundings look completely different to me, with the parking lot right next to the house and so on. I visited there a year ago and took photos, as many of you have done too, and it just doesn't fit...

Apparently the video was posted on www.frequency.com, which seems to be a site where anyone can upload anything, so even false news. Here's the video:

The house where grew the biggest star of Quebec was completely shaved Charlemagne last Friday, before the impossibility of transforming to accommodate its fans.

 

Dion family saw the potential for several years to make a house reminding fans of Celine's humble origins of his family.

 

"When mom returned home, she wanted to make a kind of tourist attraction. That was the goal, "says Michel Dion, Celine's brother and manager of the star in Las Vegas.

 

Talks had been undertaken in the past with the City and the owners of neighboring buildings, but the project was never realized.

 

Celine Dion was very attached to the family home in this small city of Lanaudière, which recalled many memories. It has regularly spoken in interviews of family meals with 13 siblings and complete to play music evenings.

 

House already changed

 

But the house was already quite changed since it was converted into a store in the early 1980s, and until recently housed a retail doors and windows.

I hope they will rebuild it the way it was (before it turned in an ugly blue house) There is a house in the street across that really looks like the old house of Céline. In fact the only real and original part that left on the house in Charlemagne was the chimney. It is sad they didn't take care of the house, but itThe store it housed was already gone in 2002, since then no-one entered it. So I can imagine it was no longer save.

 

The fact is, that Charlemagne demolished everything connected to Céline, except the schools she was in. There is not much to see these days then as a Céline fan in Charlemagne, as the house was probably the main reason for fans to go to Charlemagne. I was lucky enough to see it 3 times, and glad I took pictures!

It became a furniture shop from 1980 till 2002 and like Yentl said; no one entered the house since then, so I can imagine it would be totally in ruines if they didn't do any maintenance on it.

From FB: Jean-Philippe Dion from the "Accès Illimité" show (Productions J) explains that he and his video crew had accompanied the Dion family for the destruction of the Charlemagne house. Something will replace it and we will soon know more about it.

Wow. Very sad indeed. I am glad I got the opportunity to see it with some great Celine fans back in 2008 when the tcwt was in Montreal.

 

It has been a negative year. I was supposed to see her in Tokyo next month. Things seemed to be ao bright a year ago in Paris. Little did we know.

Awww this is a shame. You're right it's been such a sad year in the world of Celine.

 

I'd love to have something positive as we come up to Christmas. Be it a short video message from Celine or even an unreleased track via Sony. Something, anything, positive would be amazing.

It's so sad!

 

I mean, even if it was in bad condition there is always something that can be done to preserve such places. In my opinion, it should stay no matter what. Definitely going to Charlemagne won't be the same.
