zuv Posted May 2, 2013 at 04:31 PM Posted May 2, 2013 at 04:31 PM I just started learning spanish with Rosetta stone. And now i want to read and learn Celine's Spanish songs. My favorite is "Amar Haciendo El Amor" Its funny cause I did the same thing when i was 8-9 years of age. My first lectures in English were from "Falling Into You" booklet :- P i was wondering if any English speaker that speaks fluently spanish could phonetically transcribe the song. May 4, 2013 at 02:00 PM Posted May 4, 2013 at 02:00 PM (edited) wow.. phonetically... I could translated it or explain it because I'm spanish but... transcribe phonetically.. I don't know.. although I found this web where you can copy/paste the phrases and it transcribe it for you if you know how to read phonetically... or however it works.. hehehehttp://www.aucel.com/pln/transbase.html Edited May 4, 2013 at 02:01 PM by donpi86 1 Quote
LuisMa Posted May 4, 2013 at 03:08 PM Posted May 4, 2013 at 03:08 PM Yes, the problem is that if I transcribe them phonetically, like ['so la] probably you wouldn't understand a lot of the symbols. The thing about Spanish is that it's very easy to pronunce because all of the vowels receive a full vowel sound, all you need to be careful is with the accented syllable. But unlike English, where "o" can be pronounced /ə/ as in polite, /ou/ as in code, /a/ as in hot, etc., in Spanish the "o" is always pronounced /o/ as in the English word "awe". Spanish vowels are pronounced somewhere "in the middle" of the English ones, as /i/ as in isla is longer than the "i" in hit, but shorter than the one in feel. The vowels are somewhat tense, but short. Donpi86's page is a good one. In case you have any question, I'll be glad to help as well. 1 Quote

Celine had a piece of paper with the lyrics of Sola Otra Vez written in a way to pronounce the words correctly, so i thought maybe i could do that too. lol Thanks donpi86, but i can't read that transcript at all. lolll, i guess i was talking about another kind of phonetics lol Quote

LuisMa Posted May 10, 2013 at 11:28 AM Posted May 10, 2013 at 11:28 AM Don't give up! Practice makes perfect! (By the way I'm from Costa Rica, but I live in Spain now) If you want me to record it slower, word by word, I have no problem in doing that, if it helps you improve. I'm a professor, so I like to help people studying languages. 3 Quote

mike_z Posted May 13, 2013 at 12:53 AM Posted May 13, 2013 at 12:53 AM Weird how people didn't care much for this song... and SOLA OTRA VEZ became a classic even as a spanish song! 1 Quote
