The first time I heard Christina Aguilera sing, I was totally blown away. I love the way she sings. Her tone is beautiful, and her voice has got so much power, yet so much sensitivity — and technically, I think, she’s flawless.

 

I remember she broke onto the scene at the turn of the millennium, just about the time my husband and I were going to take a hiatus to have our first child, so I got to watch a lot of her TV appearances, especially on the award shows. I remember thinking, This girl’s got it all and then some! Unbelievable voice, great dancer and so very beautiful. At that time, I didn’t realize how versatile she was, but over the years she has proved that she can sing anything and make it sound incredible: pop, soul, R&B and even country.

Without a doubt, she’s one of the most talented artists the world has ever seen and heard, and I think she’s going to continue to amaze us for many, many years to come.

She can't even talk about Christina Aguilera without discussing having her children.

 

Christina has a good voice, I just feel that ofteb she uses it terribly. She pushes it to a point where it can sound ugly and overwrought. But she still has great artistry, and made a series of albums that had a vision and point and she really gives it her all when it comes to her work. Unfortunately she's fallen on hard commercial times as of late, which is a shame because Bionic and Lotus - while not perfect - have some real strong songs that could have been embraced more by the public if they'd been given a fair shake.

Christina Aguilera is everything but ''technically flawless''. She has a good instrument but never learnt how to use it properly in order to sing in tune with musicality. She always strained her voice even on simple belts, she's got pitch issues and her runs are repeatitive and most times out of tune. All these resulted to the vocal decline she is now facing. Um, shouldn't it be Christina writing a glowing blurb for Celine? Personally I'd place Celine higher than Christina even now. Then again, these lists are objective and they never get them right.

I cant believe Celine says Christina has a flawless technique. the girl has probably the worst technique of all the vocal divas out there. she does have a beautiful timbre though, one of the most beautiful among new millenium divas.

It's like when she did the National Anthem. I wanted to duck for cover because I thought they were sounding the air raid siren. Sort of like you said, it can sound so unmusical and like pure shouting. I think there's a deluded sect of her fanbase that thinks screaming is the same as belting and that she drags all the other artists whenever she does that. But it sounds so unattractive. And she pushes her voice to sound fuller sometimes and it's so artificial, like she's trying too hard to be seen as some great vocalist when she should just BE a great vocalist. That Aretha Grammy tribute a few years back, everyone was amazing and she was just like, mistaking volume for actual resonance. Not to drag anyone else into it but just to compare her to one of her contemporaries, Kelly Clarkson doesn't often sing material that's vocally challenging so people forget what she can do. But in a live setting, she wipes the floor with Christina Aguilera when she does bother to do anything "showy."

no not like celine. celine's french album sold more than chrsitina's english album, and celine can still fill out stadiums something christina never could. so the answer is a resounding no.

Bionic sold 600k worldwide, Lotus 300k worldwide, while Celine sold 1.200.000 with Sans Attendre in selected markets. Celine >>> Christina. No comment on tours.

This article just shows that Celine needs to go back to Berlitz for a few more classes. Christina may be a lot of things, and I like her a lot too, but 'technically flawless' she is not!

 

Celine has all the time in the world to go on about writing good things about others and promoting others (Bless her for that!) but, damn girl, take more control of your own career & promote your music and not your babies.

Don't you wish she could just say what she really thinks. Celine always says great things about everyone. Did Celine make the list?

Bionic and Lotus actually have some really good songs, but I agree some of the single choices to promote the album were not the classiest.

Totally. After Not Myself Tonight and its skanky video flopped, you'd think she'd get the message that people don't want that from her. And then she comes out with Your Body. The funny thing is that Max Martin can pretty much make a hit for anyone, and Christina would go on and on during that month she promoted Lotus about how she draaaagged herself to work with him, like she's so above it. But then after all is said and done, the only person he seemingly can't make a hit for... is Christina. So maybe the problem is her.

 

But like you said, both albums have some real good songs. Elastic Love, Little Dreamer, Monday Morning, Birds Of Prey, these are the songs I would have used to promote that record. Note how three of them aren't even on the standard edition though. But I think they're an eclectic group of songs that would have shown the album in a good light had they been used to promote it. Blank Page could have made a great Fall/Winter single to kick off Lotus, even if the influence of Someone Like You is palpable; imo it's the best ballad Christina has made since The Voice Within in 2002. Red Hot Kinda Love is a fun, saucy song, even Let There Be Love, generic as it is, has at least some airplay potential, so it's not like she didn't have options going into each of these album campaigns.

true but one solid hitsong makes more impact in peoples mind that milions of sales from fans. Your body and Feel this moment are decent hits worldwide, opposite to Sans Attendre which noone knows exept fans

I honestly don't know why Xtina is on the list. I love her, her music, her style but... Most influential? hmm... dunno. Maybe on Stripped era.

These prove Christina is more into mainstream music, she's more current, but not more successful than Celine. Success still goes to Celine and the songs of Sans Attendre are supposed to apply to a much smaller audience because they are french songs.

Well, I don't think Céline follows every Christina's appareances. She is refering to her hiatus and back then Christina had a terrific voice.

 

Today, her career is as much wasted as her voice. Her last performances - well, actually, since the "Bionic" era - have been disasters.

 

And to say the truth , I don't think that's a recent interview. Didn't she say that years ago on a TV show from Vegas?

Celine was probably asked "Which singer blah blah blah" and quite often she says Christina. Can't imagine Celine talking about her, then saying "Well, i think she's overrated!" lol
