robert sadler Posted November 7, 2012 at 09:00 AM Author Posted November 7, 2012 at 09:00 AM My collegue and I arrived into to d My friend and I arrived into to Dubai which we where both looking forward to first visit we had booked a car on arrival to see parts of the UAE.Anyway to start off with the slow customs check in arrival area before collecting our luggage which was a priority baggage it took us just over several hours in a queue and our baggage was the only ones left on the belt customs at Dubai was terrible.give you an Idea our plane landed at 0050 we did not arrive to our car rental company to just after 4 am then hire of the car which we had pre booked with a deposit for two drives of the the vehicle both with international driving licence,then the blow my friend who had booked the car in my name but with his credit card was the problem to the company.they because I was the named main driver and my friend used his card to pay for the card which was at present on the desk to pay for the balance of the rental they would not accept it.so we asked them to see how much it would be if we decided to re book almost twice the amount they would not even attempt to come with the same price.at this time it was approaching 5 am nothing was decided we had not enough amount of money to even pay for hiring a car by cash they needed a 1500 dhr for a deposit where already they have stated we have already lost our deposit on the pre booking.overall we are going to follow this up as we also got the impression the staff did not know what they where doing,passengers in front of us where refused car hire because the staff could not tell the difference between a international and European licence from a czech republic the had a same licence as mine.anyway I hope this may be of interest to anyone travelling to Dubai I shall not be going again I so was disappointed and at what cost.we only had done a 1/4 of what we want to do.I would like to see what your thoughts of Dubai and any issues dont get me wrong although we had major issues at the start of our holiday this will be the first and my last visit to Dubai the hotel and the staff where excellent and the what parts we did see was very nice and very hot to.
