Can Celine have a hit ballad again due to the success of Adele?

With the recent ascent of Adele's ballad, "Someone Like You," to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, I was wondering if you guys think Celine has the chance to have another hit ballad again? We all know that ballads are pretty much dead on pop radio these days, but with this new #1, I think/hope that people are open to ballads on the radio again? If not just for Celine to have another hit, I would love to hear other artists have hit ballads as well.

IMO, there was nothing great or ground-breaking in TC other than the title track of the album : Taking Chances.

 

IMO, Celine has had her shares of success in the past; Adele is a new artist and is having a discovery stage in the US; In 10 yrs, I wouldn't be surprised if people don't want to listen to Adele anymore; it's the same thing with Celine from 1990 till 2000, she was the "IT" artist and everybody wanted to buy her records and listen to her live; from 2002 downward, she became stall each year a little bit more until today.

Celine's success on the charts has absolutely nothing to do with her music. It's about her name. If it was about her music, then she would be at the top because she has had plenty of songs equal to or greater (in terms of it being a ballad or an up-tempo) to many songs that have been hits such as The Climb, Skyscraper, Bleeding Love, Better In Time, If I Were A Boy, Someone Like You, Jar Of Hearts, etc...

 

The fact of the matter is that the general public is not interested in Celine anymore in the way that they are interested in Adele, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, etc. That's not to say that they are any better or worse than Celine. It's just that the general public is most interested in new and fresh talent.

 

Celine's days at the top of the charts are done. I can guarantee you that she won't have another #1 on the Hot 100.

I find it funny when topics like this come up (as they frequently do). I expect that there will be dozens of people in their false delusion saying that Celine will MOST DEFINITELY have a #1 again, and very soon, and there will probably be smiley faces, etc... It ain't happening kids! Clinging onto that Cher-Believe #1 and hoping something similiar happens for Celine isn't going to make it happen.... Celine is clearly at that point in her career where she doesn't care anymore about #1's. If she releases anything, it won't be like Taking Chances, which was an album of songs that sounded relevant today. It will be songs that don't have that relevance of today. It won't be a fresh 21st century sound, etc.. and most certainly there probably won't be huge promo tours, etc.

^She just needs the "right" song perhaps... but honestly, with the sound she has in this new show I think she could really come out with a great ballad. Personally, I don't think her sound on the TC cd was all that great (and maybe thats why that cd got so little attention) and I think it has gotten better since her break. If someone can give her some great lyrics to go along with that voice, they'll be playing her on the radio again soon

seriously, i'm sure one of the three new songs will be great, i liked a lot the taking chances album but people today seems confused when there is too much to choose from, so three new songs on the next english album is the thing to do

No... because it's simple, she, rene and her label don't care about chart positions or breaking records anymore.... shes been there and done it... family is now her no.1 priority.

 

And I can see her in Vegas now until she retires, because its all about stability, family, and money, and its just that simple... she has the best of both worlds, and fair play to them!

I share the opinion of many people on the fact that Celine in her album Taking Chances did not take ANY chances; the only track that was a bit Rock/Pop in the whole album was Taking Chances; the other songs were typical Celine songs which 90% of them were under-par production/lyrics wise and 10% were good songs but they were hidden : IMO, Map to my heart and the Reason I go On are the best album tracks but they did not have any connection with the whole album

I don't really think their intention was to get high on the charts with TC...it kind of seemed more of an excuse to do a greatly successful tour. If they really wanted to get on the charts I'm sure they would have put more money and effort into it.

 

Either way, YES, I do believe Celine will have another hit ballad.

I agree with Leah. She can definetly do it, I'm sure it's possible but, since she's not ''new'' it might make it a bit harder. I'm convinced that she could do it if it was the right song, at the right time. Timing is everything.

Jennifer Lopez has been singing since the 90s so she's not new. J.Lo can't be considered a fresh talent. But she was still able to get number 1. And 330 million views in YouTube with On The Floor. She is almost the same age as Celine and J. Lo has 2 kids as well.

They ruined the song with the live version as a single without a video.

 

The promotion should have started singing 3 songs from the album instance of singing only one song plus the old MHWGO and BYLM

And about number 1 hit, my opinion is: Celine doesnt care about it anymore, singing now is like a hobby for her. She did everything about to be number 1 hit that she wanted to in pass, today her goal is her family, all shes doing in show business is having fun. If her albuns sells or not she doesnt care anymore. But she has talent for it, all of this we know but all I say is that she wont work so hard today as she been done before. That time her goal was to be in the top, to be the number one singer in the world, For now she wants is to be the number 1 mother, wife of her family. If one day one of her new future songs would be number 1 again of course she will be very glad but people, dont expect it because she wont work for it anymore. She will record an album, sings on TV, performance her shows and come back home, to her kids and husband and be happy with them. Its all it! Her goal changed!
