AllCeline Posted July 26, 2009 at 02:51 PM Posted July 26, 2009 at 02:51 PM (edited) We've got topics for the first two movies and I figured I'd start up the topic for the third movie since shooting has officially begun. Anyone as excited as I am? The third installment will be released on December 10, 2010. We're pretty far off but a Holiday release is gonna be great! Some of the major highlights so far:The film will no longer be distributed by Disney. Walden Media has now teamed up with 20th Century Fox to produce and release the 'Narnia' films from here on out.Shooting began in July 2009.Digital cameras will be used to shoot 'Dawn Treader' unlike the previous two films which were shot on film. The release date is currently set for December 10, 2010. CSCfan Posted July 27, 2009 at 03:59 PM Posted July 27, 2009 at 03:59 PM Yeah, last time I read something was it wasn't sure they would make the other movies, because the franchise didn't do as expected, but I'm glad they teamed up with 20th Century Fox...hope they're able to make all the movies! AllCeline Posted July 29, 2009 at 03:53 PM Author Posted July 29, 2009 at 03:53 PM Yeah, and I think there may be a lot more promotion for the movies now that they've teamed up with Fox. Especially with Fox's FoxFaith division... they'll probably be doing a lot of promotion in churches as well as mainstream media. AllCeline Posted November 16, 2010 at 11:31 PM Author Posted November 16, 2010 at 11:31 PM (edited) Carrie Underwood's new song, "There's a Place For Us," was released on iTunes today! Carrie co-wrote and recorded the song specifically for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It's definitely a beautiful ballad. Don't forget to see the third installment of the Narnia movies, in theaters on December 10th!! Edwin Posted December 20, 2010 at 09:21 PM Posted December 20, 2010 at 09:21 PM Any more reviews? Wondering if I should shell out for the 3D or not. Quote
dj4celine Posted December 21, 2010 at 09:06 AM Posted December 21, 2010 at 09:06 AM Go for the 2D, Edwin. The 3D is good, but nothing spectacular IMO. I don't know about the prices there, but here the 3D tickets are just 25% more expensive than the 2D one, so I won't mind going for the 3D sometime soon again. If it's not that steep, then you can go for the 3D. Either way, this movie is good in whichever format you want to watch it. All in all, like John, I'll give it a 7/10. But definitely much better than Prince Caspian, where the only thing that was hot (literally) was Ben Barnes Quote
AllCeline Posted December 22, 2010 at 01:00 AM Author Posted December 22, 2010 at 01:00 AM (edited) I saw it in 3D this past weekend and definitely wasn't worth it. I'd recommend going for 2D too... The film is already visually impressive as and the bad 3D does nothing but detract. I'm gonna see in 2D again this week. You won't miss anything at all. destin139 Posted December 28, 2010 at 11:35 PM Posted December 28, 2010 at 11:35 PM I saw the film in 2D and was really impressed with all the effects etc - I really don't think 3D is necessary - its expensive enough as it is to go to the cinema without paying more to see a movie in 3D. As a movie I thought it was pretty good, but as an (ever so slightly fanatical!) lover of the C.S. Lewis Chronicles I was hugely disappointed with the film. I know that it was an impossible task to pack all the content of the book into a movie of roughly 90 minutes but I thought it entirely un-necessary the way they changed almost the entire centre plot line, and reason for the "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" - collecting the swords of the 7 lords and the whole green smoke thing. However, getting over my hang ups over the interpretation of the book, I thought it was superbly acted (the kid playing Eustace was just fantastic - he has an amazing future ahead of him!) And I thought the ending was amazing Quote http://i717.photobucket.com/albums/ww171/destin139/Celine2.jpg

And I thought the ending was amazing I won't say it was a huge disappointment but I definitely was little bugged out that they pretty much changed the entire plot... or at least the sequence of events. But then again reading about going from island to island is one thing. Making that interesting on screen is quite another so I guess they needed the changes to make the movie interesting. What REALLY annoyed me was surprisingly the soundtrack. They probably made refrence to the original theme twice... maybe three times. But the rest of the score was completely different. The music was always one of the first things that "brought me back to Narnia," but it was like a completely different movie with the score for Dawn Treader. I just hope they get Harry Gregson Williams to come back for the soundtrack if they continue the series... hopefully they do. The North American release didn't do so well at the Box Office.
