Cheyenne Cherry shouted "it's dead b***h" to one protester and stuck her tongue out to another after being confronted outside the Bronx Supreme Court in New York yesterday. The 17-year-old earlier pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary, the New York Post reports. The court heard Cherry and a 14-year-old accomplice destroyed furniture and stole DVDs from the apartment of Valerie Hernandez, Cherry's former room-mate and ex-lover. On Wednesday, Cherry said her younger friend put the kitten, named Tiger Lily, in the oven and that "I didn't let it out". Authorities said the pair fled the apartment because Tiger Lily began crying and scratching at the oven door. Prosecutor Jennifer Troiano said Cherry, sentenced to one year in jail and ordered not to keep a pet for three years, was granted a plea deal because her friend was "more culpable" for the killing. Cherry, who was nabbed by police last year after using a BB gun to dog-nap a teacup Yorkie with her boyfriend, will be formally sentenced next month. One animal activist, Sharon Tuerlings, said she wanted to catch a glimpse of the kitten killer. "It felt so good to look at her ugly face," Ms Tuerlings said. "Those evil eyes that she has." Another said he was glad Cherry was going to be locked up. "She is dangerous," said Josie Marrero. How could somebody do something so horrible and cruel. People like this should die. Animal abuse/murder is so much more horrible than human abuse/murder. If a human is abused, they can get therapy and try their best to move on. An animal does not have the option of therapy and fancy human things, they have to live with it everyday. Also, an animal is so pure and innocent that to take the life of it for no reason is just inhuman. 1 year? What a joke. Both girls were fully aware of what they were doing and deserve the maximum sentence possibly. I once saw in the news that birds were being plucked alive for their down so that they could grow them again and could be plucked again. It was terrible.So I´m never using anything with down in it, if I can help it... and if I do, I want to be sure that they aren´t plucked when they were alive Quote

Though to be honest even a lifetime ban like you can get over here is practically impossible to enforce so the emphasis should have been on the jail term, and 1 year is nothing for something so sick and disturbing. And the fact she has shown no remorse is worse, I would have given her 5 years. Quote

I think she should have got a much longer sentance, but here in Finland the jails are luxury and it's a criminals paradise. If you kill a person in Finland you get like 10years the max is 20years...
