Thankyou :) :) :) Very interesting!

Is it 2020 yet? Because I swear it took me 11 years to read all that. Could someone create a law that doesn't allow this Denise woman to use words that have more than 5 letters? Please?

I agree. It is very hard to read. And my French is not that good to begin with...

I have a question about extrait 11. Did Celine want to quit the tour or did she want to quit showbusiness altogether and Rene reassured her? Or did I get that part wrong?

Another thing: wasn't the Munich show the one where Celine cried more than usually during My Love? If I remember correctly she sat there with her head in her hands crying and people started to yell for her to get up and not to cry. Or was it at another show? I can't find the video.

So....now that my brain has recovered..

Tell me if you have any thoughts, or if I'm missing the point, or whatever LOL.

It seems that this woman is basically saying she thinks Celine is mysterious, but she doesn't know why, or what the mystery is? It's like she's creating all these questions and then saying that nobody has the answers anyway?

She also says Celine has remained secretive despite her success, yet in another interview she said she doesn't believe that she has any "skeletons in her closet." Well, Celine always says she's an "open book", and I can honestly say there isn't anything I've really wondered about regarding Celine, that she hasn't addressed or been willing to answer at some point throughout her career...so...what is she talking about??

For e.g when she says RC is a taboo subject...yet in just about every interview he is discussed, even if no biographer has ever written about him before. Even if nobody asks, Celine still talks about him!

I don't think anyone can ever know everything about another human being, even if you live together, let alone when it's someone you've never met...so of course there are going to be sides of her we haven't seen, but I don't get what the great revelation is, that this book claims to have????

I don't think Celine being secretive means that she has ''skeletons in her closet''.

I think she means that Celine has a lot of fears, feelings, dreams, thougts and things like that that she never shares with the world. I often get the impression that Celine is one of those people that will go out there and do her thing even when she is not feeling good or scared or whatever. She doesn't complain. It never shows that she is not feeling good or that she has something on her mind. I remember when I watched some footage of the tour where Celine was sick, I thought to myself that if someone didn't tell me she was sick, I would have never guessed it. Maybe she just means that Celine is private in that regard. She doesn't want the world to know that she is sick or worried or whatever the case might be...

I think what she means when she says that RC is a taboo subject is that she doesn't want the press and tabloids to write stuff about him...

I've always felt that there were things about Celine that are still unknown. You can see it /sense it even when she's smiling or doing like someone else said, trying to be her best for her fans. Sometimes we do forget that Celine is still human like the rest of us and like us, there are things/experiences that she desires not to be revealed, not because they are "skeletons", but just because they are personal. She doesn't talk about them and I think that's ok. I don't think it's such a good idea to let everthing be known because it makes her even more vulnerable than she already is with so much information already being known. I think we know what Celine wants us to know and that is good enough for me. I do think that if Celine ever decides to write her own songs (and I know that's a whole other topic) that a little more of that personal side will be revealed.

As far as RC is concerned, like any mother who truly loves her child, Celine would do absolutely anything for him. I believe anyone who means him any harm would truly have a price to pay. Not out of hatred or anything malicious, but because I don't believe she plays games when it comes to her son.

number 15 is very interesting!!!

It says: "She hates the huge familiarity, the abruptness, and those who "by mistake" try to address to her without the minimum form of politeness are fast discards. The intelligence of the "La Diva" is a dangerous gun that she uses against the rude, impolite ones and "quémandeurs" -- it means people who ask for something over and over again, with insistence - that sometimes success in passing through (get over in) the barriers build around her

Well... Céline can be very open about facts in her life, but she has deep feelings and emotion that she doesn't share... As we all have. I'm looking forward to read the book, because Denise wrote an essaye about Céline's life, and not a biography... She talks about situations, feelings, emotions, perceptions instead of telling a pretty story.

From the extracts, my favorite's are point 11 and point 15.

Regarding, point 11, Denise says that Céline was feeling angry, unhappy with herself, and she told René "If I don't get pleasure in singing, it's the end. THE END, do you understand? It's necessary to leave while you're standing on the top and with glory".

I find this very interesting. I also wonder what went wrong or what happened in Munchen, so that she felt that way. She seemed to be very happy in Berlin.

And also about point 15... Nothing to had. I agree with her completely... It must be very stressful and in a way it's sad.

I totally agree with you!!! I think that some people sometimes forget that she is an human being like every body else and that means she has bad & good feelings inside her, bad & good moments , tpm as every woman heheh happiness and sadness etc. And it's not because her life is an open book that she shares 100% of it. All we know about her is what she lets us know, we do not live around her so .... there's a big part we don't know and will never know. Anyway... hehehe

I'm so looking for to read this book! But it will take a time until then...

The only thing I know that went wrong in Munich was the playback stopping during IACBTMN, maybe this upset her? We know she is a perfectionist. A friend of mine was telling me that it says in the book that Celine was only happy with 4 or 5 performances of "A New Day" out of all 700+ so I can imagine how something like that happening would be a big deal for her.

playback stopping?

Let's say there was a technical fault and the audio stopped during the song.

so could the audience hear this or was it in the earpiece like once at the Grammy's when she sang "Dance With My Father"?

Maybe it was that. And also, it says in the book that she was very stressed and very angry after Munich and that was one of the reasons she said what she said... but for one moment it almost seems that she was doing something she didn't want to, or in a way that she didn't want to. Anyway... we will know more after reading the complete book.

Everyone has experiences they don't mention, or thoughts they don't express out loud. But that's different to being "secretive." I think that word dramatizes it a lot and gives it a negative feeling. It makes it seem like she's lying, or hiding horrible things...which I don't think she is. Sure she has bad moods, doubts, insecurities, but again, that's normal. It doesn't mean she's a serial killer, or that she has a secret lover hiding in her bathroom, or that she's dying.

It just seems like this book claimed to reveal her "secrets", but then it didn't -I'm saying this from the articles and from talking to people who have read the book. I don't know if I'll read it. Maybe it's all just marketing?

The playback stopped during IACBTMN ? Where ? Here is a video of that song live in Munich :

That video is only half the song so it must have been before that bit, I can't remember the exact part. Maybe someone who went can tell us.

Fan review from the Munich topic in the tour section:

My heart was beating as hell when the playback during "It's All Coming Back To Me" now stopped and the big LED screen switched off for a couple of seconds She was sooo lucky that she did the right thing by continuing to lip... if she had stopped for only some seconds it would have been a mess when the playback started again!! But she was soooo nervous and shocked after this and always looked to the sound engineer.. you could really see that she was breathing really fast because of her nervosity that it could happen again during "To Love You More"

Anyway, that might not even be the reason Celine was upset in Munich. There could have been a million reasons.

Well, I haven't read the book, but I don't think it's all just marketing. When we read the title "L'enigmatique Céline Dion", we tend to think that it will reveal secret things about Céline and about her life. I don't believe that's the purpose of the book and the title... I think the book is a try to show a deeper Céline, to tell about her life while touring, the way she thinks and seems to act. I read somewhere that this book asks a lot of questions, questions that the author couldn't answer and maybe not even Céline could give a clear and full response. If you got to see Céline's interview done by Denise "Au Coeur Ouvert", I think you'll get a good perspective of what this book is all about... It's a try to understand what goes down Céline's skin, her feelings, her desires, her frustrations... Things that we all have and feel, but in her case it's more interesting, because she's a public person with a very 'public life'... and once again, that doesn't mean she doesn't have hidden feelings, emotions, desires.
