LuisMa Posted March 29, 2009 at 11:46 AM Posted March 29, 2009 at 11:46 AM I would like to share a Celine-related experience that occurred to me a couple of years ago. It was 1991, and I had found out about Celine by listening to "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" on American Top 40 with Shadoe Stevens, and I instantly fell in love with her. I religiously listened to that show every Saturday morning, since I was only 17 and did not have money to buy a lot of records, so as a music fan that was the way I could listen to what was popular. One Saturday I had an exam in the university, so I missed the show. Come next week, and Shadoe Stevens said: "Three songs drop out of the countdown this week: Celine Dion's "(If There Was) Any Other Way"... I was so unhappy because it only spent one week and I did not get the chance to listen to it! I called all radio stations and they said they did not add it to their playlist, as it wasn't very big and did not test well for them. That following week, I went downtown and entered one of the biggest record stores called Fama Music. My heart began to beat so fast when I noticed they had one copy of the cassette single for (ITW) AOW, but I didn't have any money. When I returned the next morning, the cassette was gone, and they had only imported one copy, and they said they wouldn't be bringing any more singles because customs was charging them taxes equivalent to albums for those. I was so bummed!!!! Of course, I ended up listening to the song months later and I became a huge fan of Celine's. But I never forgot about that. As I became a collector, that cassette or CD single were very difficult to find. Then, in 2004, I was on the phone speaking with one of my friends who was also a chart enthusiast, and I happened to tell him about my "Any Other Way" anecdote. He told me: "You know what, I was the one who bought that tape back in 91." I was astonished! Like our Celine says, to make a long story short , he agreed to exchange the cassette tape for a Belinda Carlisle CD single I had. 13 could be a very, very lucky number. Quote

J-Man Posted March 30, 2009 at 11:32 PM Posted March 30, 2009 at 11:32 PM Nice to have the story behind the item. And it's a nice cassingle even on it's own. So well done (I do like Belinda Carlisle too though, I loved the Runaway Horses album when it came out!) Has anyone else got an interesting story behind one of their favourite Celine memorabilia?Share them! Quote http://www.powerofthemusic.com/other/FORUMSIG1.png
Davey84 Posted March 31, 2009 at 07:35 AM Posted March 31, 2009 at 07:35 AM WELL actually I do!! I once one an auction with a "Call the man" single, but it had the cover of the rare CTM promo and the normal cd single!! I never thought I would get that rare promo, so I counted my blessings with just the cover.... but then a few years later John here mentioned that he had only the cd that came with that promo for sale!! So 1 + 1 made one complete promo and the rest is history! And don't know if you remember Davey, but it's exactly a year ago today that you first wrote to me asking for that (the day before April Fools Day!) In the coming weeks we realised we had some pretty freaky occurences in the past that made it fated we'd be Celine friends. So we've been mates for exactly 1 year today. Happy Anniversary! I am also a Belinda Carlisle fan, and that album you mention is also one of my favorites. Love "Leave A Light On" By the way, I love your site. I didn't know this had an ultra platinum rating. Quote

SensationalCeline Posted April 13, 2009 at 12:09 AM Posted April 13, 2009 at 12:09 AM Whoa...that must have been totally weird but cool at the same time. Had you known him since '91? If so, all that time and he didn't say anything!!!!!! Quote http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg280/spoiledrottenbrat4063/Celine%20Dion/CELINESIGGY.jpg
