Mais nous avons immédiatement imposé une exigence: Céline devra réduire le nombre de représentations.» En cinq ans, la chanteuse a offert près de 700 représentations dans une salle du réputé Caesar’s Palace spécialement aménagée pour le spectacle A New Day. Elle réduirait sa cadence de moitié avec tout au plus 70 représentations par année. René Angélil a encore en mémoire le succès sans précédent du spectacle, mais aussi les moments difficiles qu’a dû vivre sa protégée sur cette «terrible» scène offrant une forte pente. «Céline en a beaucoup souffert, mais aussi nos danseurs, dont plusieurs se sont blessés. Il fallait prévoir cinq ou six danseurs supplémentaires tous les soirs.» Depuis, la scène a retrouvé sa forme aplatie pour les spectacles de Cher et d’Elton John.
