trls Posted November 9, 2008 at 02:43 AM Posted November 9, 2008 at 02:43 AM I really love country music ever since I started listening to Carrie Underwood. Both of her albums are so good. She has such a great voice, all her songs are good, and she's also really pretty. These days, I'm really into Taylor Swift. That girl is so pretty and down to earth. She writtes all her songs and I think she has an enourmous talent. Can't wait to buy her new album. It's the album I've been waiting for this year and I hope it debuts at number one. I also watch all of those country awards show and by doing that, I discovered a lot of new country artist. By the way, I live in Quebec and here, no one listens to country music so I have nobody to share my passion of music with. Like one time, I went to a music store and I asked them if they had the first taylor swift cd and the guy at the counter was like taylor who? Here are my top 5 fav country artist: 1.Taylor Swift2.Carrie Underwood3.Rascall Flatts4.Keith Urban5.Shania Twain Quote
Jacqui Posted November 9, 2008 at 02:46 AM Posted November 9, 2008 at 02:46 AM I like country too Carrie is very talented. I think she has quite a few fans on this board. I also like Martina McBride, Faith Hill, that kind of music. My favourite would have to be Jessica Simpson's country album, though. I've been a fan of hers for 9 years so it was pretty awesome when she decided to "go country" LOL. Quote
Hilda Posted November 9, 2008 at 03:12 AM Posted November 9, 2008 at 03:12 AM I love country music - not all but....i have more than two albums of LeeAnn Womack who I love!!! as well as carrie underwoods 1st cd which is briiilliant - and also this is funny.....but i just listened to jessica simposns new country cd and it actually isnt that bad - her voice is still anoying in parts but generally good - very carrie underwood sounding. and i obviously like shania. Black Kitten Posted November 9, 2008 at 05:33 AM Posted November 9, 2008 at 05:33 AM count me in!!! i am a huge fan of country music. i used to really love Shania Twain, but her absence made me realize there are a lot of great country singers too to appreciate. these past few months, i've been listening a lot to LeAnn Rimes. her debut album "Blue" is a must for every country die-hards. no wonder it has become one of the definitive country albums ever. she released that album when she was just 13, and WHAT A VOICE she's got! incredible! well deserving of a Grammy award, and not to mention she holds the record for being the youngest Grammy winner. AMAZING! Carrie Underwood is great too. i love Some Hearts, but Carnival Ride made me appreciate her more. Alison Krauss, and Eagles (Long Road Out of Eden is brill!!!) are some of my all time country favorites. Quote
Allie Posted November 9, 2008 at 05:51 AM Posted November 9, 2008 at 05:51 AM (edited) huge country music fan here, I grew up with it. My absolute favorite is Reba McEntire, I was (and sort of still am) so obsessed with her before I found Celine. I really like Faith Hill too. I'm sort of drifting from country music lately because I don't like most of the artists from the past decade, but I do really like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. I grew up listening to 90's country, so basically anything from that decade is a favorite of mine. OH and Sugarland now too, love them. Edited November 9, 2008 at 05:52 AM by Allie Quote
ThisTime Posted November 9, 2008 at 06:57 AM Posted November 9, 2008 at 06:57 AM I absolutely LOVEEE Carrie Underwood Then I also really like Kellie Pickler! Those two are definitely my favorite.I like Taylor Swift and think she's an AMAZING song writer, but I'm just not fond of her singing live. At all. Quote http://i.imgur.com/MfrTohK.gifMy Twitter || My Tumblr

incognito Posted November 9, 2008 at 10:57 PM Posted November 9, 2008 at 10:57 PM I love country music. I love Martina McBride the most... I'm obsessed. The first thing I do each day is check YouTube for new Martina uploads. I saw her in concert this year and it was the best concert I've been to... I enjoyed it more than the many Celine concerts I've been to. Just a personal preference though. I think she's the best live singer/performer in the world and I LOVE all her songs.I also like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's old stuff... back when she sounded country and had a nicer voice. Oh and I love Carrie... who doesn't? Quote

I saw Little Big Town earlier this year when they supported Martina. They were pretty good but their set was too long... I just wanted to see Martina and hated that they were on for an hour. Quote

She actually grew up in Texas listening to country music. She started her singing career in gospel, but after several record deals and attempts fell through, she moved to LA and signed with Sony to do some pop albums. Her fans have known all along that she never really felt comfortable in that part of the industry. Sony turned her into a manuafactured pop star and wouldn't let her have any of the creative control she wanted. So this time, she told them she was doing a country album, writing her own songs, and she was doing it her way, or else she was quitting. She also said she's staying country, whether her CD succeeds or fails. It is dissapointing that the sales haven't been better, but things could have been worse. Btw, have you actually listened tyo the CD before you said it sucks? LOL. Quote

LOL.of course. i downloaded the full album, and i didn't say it's a god awful album (as you can see). it's an OK album, but what i was pointing out was her decision to switch genres. i admit i never liked her, but i do appreciate some of her songs (Sweetest Sin, I Wanna Love You Forever). we already have Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift, and i really don't think country music can still accommodate such already known artist as her. it's not a wise choice for her if you're gonna ask me. her decision made her look frustrated to sell albums and to have a hit song. it looks like i offended you, and i'm so sorry for that. i'm just so disappointed of her decision to crossover to country. it isn't her style imho. she should focus on what she does best. dj4celine Posted November 10, 2008 at 12:24 PM Posted November 10, 2008 at 12:24 PM When I was a kid, my parents used to play a lot of Dolly Parton, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and others. I was hooked on. But I prefer more of a country-pop songs than the pure country songs. Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith are some of my fav. artists. So yeah, I do love country music as well. Dhena, Jessica's "Do You Know" is quite decent actually. There have been worse albums by other artists. I think you should give it a second chance just like you gave "D'elles" Quote

Oh it's ok! I'm not offended, I just get a little protective of Jess, the same way I do with Celine. But it's all good. I get what you mean, about all the competition and so many blonde young female artists lol...it just seemed to me like a very natural thing for Jess to finally do. I mean, what did the rest of the world expect her to do? Stay in pop? That wasn't working. Do another reality Tv show? Not a good idea. Quit show business and become a farmer or something? Quote
Black Kitten Posted November 10, 2008 at 01:37 PM Posted November 10, 2008 at 01:37 PM (edited) LOL @ the farmer! about Jessica Simpson, take LeAnn Rimes as another example. she tried to crossover to Pop/RnB genre when she released Twisted Angel. i love that album, but her sales began to decline dramatically, and now she's holding back to her country roots but nobody seems to care about her anymore. her last album "Family" failed miserably to get her back to the top, which was kind of frustrating for me as i really love her music, especially her first 4 albums (Blue, You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs, Sittin' on Top of the World and LeAnn Rimes). we don't know what the future holds for this woman. i downloaded the full album. like i said, it's an "ok" album for a country debut, and i enjoy the song "Come on Over", but Sony BMG Philippines didn't release Do You Know here. i'm just not into her, but her range is pretty amazing. Lymon Posted November 10, 2008 at 09:35 PM Posted November 10, 2008 at 09:35 PM I'm a HUGE country fan. It was an influence around me growing up, and I think it's absolutly amazing. It's a very pure type of music. My favorites are Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain(though I hate when does straight up pop, and her country-pop is good, but if she released another The Woman in Me-esque album, that'd be amazing), Rascal Flatts, Johnny Cash, and Reba McEntire. I really want Tim and Faith to tour again soon, because i'd love to get a chance to see them both in concert. Quote http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png
