Celine part of Leonard Cohen Tribute Concert, "Tower of Song"

Such an amazing line-up. I'd love to see her on stage - or even hobnobbing backstage - with some of these people.

For the interested, I believe the concert will air on the radio the following day and sometime later on TV / Netflix, I believe (and it's being directed by a Game of Thrones director, so.... yeah).

The entire concert can be heard on the radio tomorrow (CBC Radio 2 as of 8 p.m), and will air on TV (and as a Netflix special, I believe) in the near future.

Could be ...From what i just heard the pronounciation gets harder and that type of voice she makes..i am sure it works for this song..but i don't like it.

I think she sounded great 😀 The appropriate sound for singing a Cohen song and the reaction she got- especially when she looked at the camera, perfect 👌

 

But no, we don't want that scratchy voice on her new recordings 😂

No but it was part of it. She did the recording of her phrase, got her outfit from Law Roach and they filmed her in the studio. That should have not taken long to do that and afterwards she had plenty of time to do rehearsels or record new song for her upcoming album.

A full studio version would be fab! With great production. Lately her covers have been so plain and booring, with no soul and adding nothing to the song. But we know she can still do it: look at At Seventeen. That album is worth buying for that song alone!

Was a nice little surprise to see this yesterday. I didn't even know there was a tribute concert. What a lovely way to remember Leonard..

It's nice that she participated in the tribute -- and, I don't know anything about Leonard Cohen, but it sounds like her singing style was appropriate for the occasion. But . . .she sounded like she was trying to sound like Janis Joplin. I can't say I enjoyed hearing it or have any desire to play it again.

I listened to the entire concert on the radio and still totally bummed about not being able to make it there.

Basically, that was a bunch of my favorite artists doing a bunch of my favorite songs.

 

Seriously though, talk about range. Celine, Courtney Love, Seth Rogen, the Prime Minister ...very few artists could claim such a wide fan base.

 

Here's the full Tower of Song video montage (not the full song, sadly), opening with the choir from Leonard's synagogue. Not a huge fan of what Celine did with it (very nasal...) but love that she participated and tried something different.

Still hoping one of these days she might sing If It Be Your Will. Would suit her very well.
