Oh, my God, are you really gonna tell that you care for what this drug addict failure think of Celine and others? She might have look at herself and find out that she looks horrible! I knew she doesn't look well these days but I was shocked with the pictures Leone has posted! They're awful! I mean, she looks awful! How old is she? Is she much older than Celine? I guess Whitney is about 43, right? But she looks like 60! I wonder how is she going to look when she's 60! When you're a star you have to look nice IMO because you live under the spotlights and Celine does look well! As distinct from Whitney... And look at Cher! She's almost 60 and she looks at least 25 years younger! Her figure is amazing, her voice hasn't changed almost during last few decades she's still running like crazy all over the stage singing her fabulous song and who's Whitney now? Nobody!

P.S Houston's voice resembles Anastacia's voice nowadays... :lmao:

most celebrities look very bad without makeup. I don't even want to think about how Cher look at without makeup. :xmas_mellow: but yes, Whitney looks much worse than before, just like a drug queen.

I think that Whitney said that at THAT time because she had a big respect to Aretha. But who didn't? And that was said not to abuse others that much but simply to please the black diva, the only one BLACK there actually.

And I think that now Whitney became more wiser and more calm about everyhting in this life.

And may I say that maybe even if Celine was so great at Divas 98 but she still hadn't done at that time all that she achieved now. I mean Celine is always great and succesful but still she was quite humble star at that times for someone. Could be? Not as HUGE as she became a bit later. :flowers:

And beside I think Whitney should definately say a big THANK YOU to Celine for her kind words about ex-diva on WMA 2004. :innocent:

We all say stupid things sometimes. That one was one of the Whitney's.

Time flies. I think she wouldn't dare to say something like that nowdays.

If she does then she'll really fall too down.

:confused: I don't want to slate Whitney on a personal level, we all make mistakes, and she's by far not the first person to become dependant on drugs, and she by far (and unfortunately) won't be the last. She is a human being and clearly needs help and to recognise that she needs help. But if she trully made this comment, and I wouldn't be surprised if she did, then there are a few comments I would like to make.

1, I think her judgement has become seriously clouded by her lifestyle.

2, I think it depends on your enterpretation of Diva. It originally was an operatic term which came to reflect The woman who had the solo, the powerful voice, and owned the stage and stole the show! I firmly believe in that concert ALL those ladies fit that category! (If not in that concert then many times in their careers!)

3, The show was not about the best female singers in the world! Sure there were some amazing female singers there, and that was the attraction, but the show was about CHARITY!!! It was about raising funds and awareness for an important cause. If someone is so hung up on their own ego that they can't see that for themselves then that is so very disappointing! :confused:

How did a good christian woman with such an amazing talent end up like this? :shocking: I feel for her, I really do. :down: And I hope she can find her way out of this down-ward spiral before it is too late. It's horrible to see someone so magical become so desperate, even if they don't realise it. :down:

They're not in MUST to anything or anyone. I mean stars. They live their lifes. That's all.

Are you in MUST to anyone? Same is with them.

P.S. It's YOU who made them a star. They didn't ask you for that and hadn't pay for that to you.

It's enough that you read and know about them almost everything even something that shouldn't be known, privat things that you won't like to share.

They work hard, that give you their time and talent (if there's one). The price is high already.

I think no one should be ashamed for its face.

That's an expected comment from Whitney. She thinks she's the best thing happening after chocolate, but look at what she did to her and to her life and career.

And Céline doesn't really care. She gave the other side of her face during WMA when she was the big attraction, and stopped giving interviews to see whitney, "because she went through a lot and was still standing".

Well, i eared that to and, of course, i don't agree with Mrs Houston. Celine stole the show on that night and showed to everybody what a performer she is.

And i don't know if it's true but i red somewere that Withney said in the early 90's (in a press conference in Montreal...); Who needs Celine Dion when Withney is there (or something close to that).

I love Celine because of her voice but most particularly becaus of the great human being she is, because i respect what she trully is. And i can't say that for Houston....

She failed...and i'm happy!!!

I mean, she was one of the great voice, but even a bad person, always ready to criticize the others and envy envy everyone, but Celine is still in bussiness now, she's out...so what goes around comes around...she wished bad for other and now she is in the abyss...

it was an excellent show...I would say if there had been just Aretha, Carol King and Celine none of the charm would've been lost:) really sad to see Whitney the way she is now, but I do hope she still get's her life back from all the trouble drugs and home problems brought her...she is a rare talent indeed...

You know, actually I used to think like that too. I mean, I used to think that Cher must be looking horrible without makeup. But then I saw a few pictures of her in newspaper where she wore absolutely simple clother and had almost no makeup. i was greatly surprised but she looked almost the same! I thought I would just comment on something that I read in the 98 VH1 divas booklet. In the booklet they said that they picked these "Divas" because they each represented a different part of the music industry.

Shania- Country

Gloria- Latino

Aretha- blues type

Carole- history of music

Celine- ballads

Mariah- pop

These may not all be correct but I know it says in the booklet.

Also it states that it just so happened that all of these were around the same area in that time.

So that would explain a little why they didn't want Whitney.

I agree with just about everything everyone above me has said.

I was a big fan of Whitney before she ruined herself. It's very sad and also a little infuriating that she threw her gift away. I saw her in concert in 1997. It wasn't very good and it sure was hot in there, I remember. Here's a link to an accurate article about the show I went to http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/8891/wnews.html. I hope she can turn things around somehow. It's very, very sad. She must be breaking her mother's heart. To say Celine and the others are babies crawling is ridiculous. I guess she felt she had to say that esp. since some of the others are her peers and she's jealous. The drugs have made her delusional. Although, I believe Aretha Franklin was the only real Diva there if we take it for it's literal meaning.....By definition, a diva is a rampaging female ego redeemed only in part by a lovely voice. Well, I might take that back about Aretha - I wouldn't call her voice lovely but I would agree with the first part of the definition. I think Bette Midler said something to this effect once when meeting her "idol" for the first time. Poor Bette was so disappointed.

sounds like Whitney. I'm sure Whitney don't care about the others except Aretha. but I doubt she spoke it out. and I think Celine won't take this as an attact, cause she must feel very humble beside Aretha, not as a star as Whitney implied. Celine even feel humble to Whitney too, and almost everyone else. so Celine is not the type of person Whitney commented.
