Black Kitten Posted December 22, 2007 at 06:27 AM Posted December 22, 2007 at 06:27 AM first of all, let me say that i love digipak packaging of albums. because unlike the traditional jewel case, it is safe from cracks and breaks. BUT! celine's taking chances' packaging is awful!!! it dont have a plastic cd tray to hold the cd in place. and thats not good! i bought 6 copies of taking chances but damn i can't find a perfect cd that have no single scratch in it! every cd have scratches even if u buy it sealed! what can u say guys??? pol Posted December 22, 2007 at 03:47 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 03:47 PM You know, I got the Deluxe Edition of Taking Chances with DVD, and I put both of my discs into 2 divide jewel cases, because I couldn't stand the probability of scratching the discs, it'd horrible!!Let's keep our fingers crossed, Sony will never do it again Quote http://www.celinedion.com/celinedion/english/images/tourheader.gifhttp://img212.imageshack.us/img212/2794/25241103520d133287fabux1.jpg MY TOUR DATESJune 12th, 2008 - Berlin, GermanyJune 28th, 2008 - Cracow, Poland
Alex_Incognito Posted December 22, 2007 at 04:07 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 04:07 PM If you don't like it, try the Japanese edition. Also, the US Limited Edition parfume set has nicer packaging, too, but not protective cloth sleeve Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

dj4celine Posted December 22, 2007 at 05:27 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 05:27 PM (edited) Alex, I think my cd got scratches from the protective cloth sleeve... and even the normal editions' packaging is pathetic. I just saved all the songs on my computer and I play it there or from my iPod through the dock connector in my music system only. I seldom take out the cds cos that would be a risky thing Edited December 22, 2007 at 05:49 PM by dj4celine Quote
mike_z Posted December 22, 2007 at 05:33 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 05:33 PM yeah my cd is full of scratches.. they even prevent me from being able to play it sometimes.. Quote
blue.grave Posted December 22, 2007 at 05:47 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 05:47 PM I knew that pulling out the CDs from the sleeves would be a risky business. So I decided to take them once and rip them onto my PC, and then sync it with my Zune. So I don't have to touch them again. Sony should have thought things more clearly when it came to packing these CDs. Quote For the joy of life, My passion for video gaming, and my Love for Celine Dion.

CelineFreak Posted December 22, 2007 at 06:18 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 06:18 PM I don't think taking the CD/DVDs out of the slip cases is scratching them as much as you guys think. The cardboard it's sliding against is not abrasive. It takes a lot to scratch a CD to the point of skipping. Unless you guys get sand or something to really dig into the surfaces of the disc, inside your case...you'll be fine. CDs have a thick coating of plastic on the underside just to protect the surface so the laser can read it. I read somewhere that even more important than the underside of the CD, is the top of the CD, which is more prone to damage than the underside. My complaint with the packaging is the CD/DVD are VERY difficult to take out of that slip folder...they definitely should have used plastic to hold the CDs in or come up with a new way to hold them in place without having to dig for them with your fingers... Taking Chances Posted December 22, 2007 at 07:35 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 07:35 PM I love the CD, but I hate the packaging. I have the Japanese Edition and the regular one, and I've put the one I listen to in a normal plastic case so it's easier to take in and out. That way the original cover won't get scratches and will not be torn up. With a regular plastic covers its much simpler, when the plastic cover is getting scratchy and doesn't look good anymore, you change it. There is no way to do that with Taking Chances. Quote
miracle_girl Posted December 22, 2007 at 07:39 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 07:39 PM I like the fact its much Greener than the jewel case! shes saving the planet!! lolbut the first time i opened it to get the dvd out i was trying so hard not to scratch iti ripped the case!! only slightly Quote http://file041b.bebo.com/11/large/2008/02/21/19/3639616524a6958591691l.jpgCeline - May 8th @ The 02! Black Kitten Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:41 PM Author Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:41 PM i think the 1st pressings of mariah carey's album the emancipation of mimi is perfect. its a digipak but it has a plastic cd holder inside and in the pocket is the foldout poster/lyics. the cd is safe from scratches. i hope sony will release a regular version of the album but in a jewel case or still a digipak but with a plastic cd tray.. i find it really terrible that even a sealed/unopened cd have scratches already when u open it. i wasted a lot of money to find a scratchless cd but i already have 6 copies, and none of those 6 is scratchless. yes it doesnt affect the sound, but for a collector like me, it sucks big time!!! i wish i can have the COSTCO LONGBOX EDITION. i think it has a holder inside. scorp82 Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:44 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:44 PM When I first noticed the packaging, I thought it was some type of special edition. I was told by the salesman that all copies of Taking Chances would be packaged in that manner. According to what he said, that type of packaging will be utilized more often by artists in the future. Not only is it more cost effective, it is more environmentally friendly. Those reasons are great, though... However, I would much prefer a regular CD case. Quote
Polar Star Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:49 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:49 PM I find the cardboard cover too tight... You have to use a lot of force to get the CD/DVD in and out. I'm afraid of applying too much force and bending the cardboard cover. I would have preferred the normal plastic case!!!!!! Quote
VintageCeline Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:51 PM Posted December 22, 2007 at 11:51 PM I dont like it! Everytime i see it in shops, i feel like we who have bought it have been ripped off. I think because with a usual jewel case, its bigger and like your getting your money's worth, but then I think Its the CD you pay for. Just me...? haha x Quote http://24.media.tumblr.com/94198518f8a09aef1d336d6fde8fc8b3/tumblr_mkdcezs36X1r7lwiso1_400.jpg

Attendais Posted December 23, 2007 at 11:04 AM Posted December 23, 2007 at 11:04 AM I'm also going to buy Japanese Edit, because it iis not that tight! Anyway I love TC Packing though it iis quite uncomfortable... For now I have European release only. And TC 4track Single, because I love MAP TO MY HEART.I must get THE REASON I GO ON also, so I have not any other way only to buy JAPANESE one. blue.grave Posted December 26, 2007 at 06:59 PM Posted December 26, 2007 at 06:59 PM I found a way to remove the CD without scratching it at all. Well if you push gently on the edges of the cover, the disk will slide out without rubbing on the sides of the disk cover. Some of my old PC games came in those cardboard cover, and that is how I got them out all of the time. Hope that will help most of you out. Terre Posted December 27, 2007 at 04:41 PM Posted December 27, 2007 at 04:41 PM I don't really like the packaging 'cause it's quite hard to get the CD/DVD out. I'm worried about damaging the discs and the packaging. I always handle my CDs very carefully so I'm not a big fan of the TC packaging.
