Well it's official now, I just got promoted from bodyguard and photographer to agent/manager to our very own forum celebrity . Ramona received two phone calls this morning from CBC Radio Canada and CBC studios. They both requested interviews with her. The first interviewer gave us only a ten minute warning and met her at the hotel lobby. They did both a radio and video interview to be aired tonight at 6pm Winnipeg time. They also shot video at the MTS with Ramona walking towards the venue with Celine's video playing in the background.

 

Ramona talked about the forum and the charity foundation in the interview. The next interview will be taking place at 3pm at the CBC studio. We will keep you posted .

 

The interviewer from CBC Radio Canada is trying to contact Rene for a possible joint interview with Celine and Ramona. Hopefully they will agree to it if Celine is not too sick, keep your fingers crossed

A fan of Celine Dion says the singer's show in Winnipeg Monday night was one of her best — and Ramona Almirez would know: she's seen Dion perform 150 times.

 

Celine Dion performs to a sold-out crowd at Winnipeg's MTS Centre on Oct. 27. (CBC)Almirez, 62, is from California, but has followed Dion to concerts around the world, including her latest one in Winnipeg on Monday.

 

A scientist who has retired from Johnson and Johnson, Almirez says she's spending her nest egg to follow her passion for the Canadian songbird.

 

"The very first song I heard from Celine was The Power of Love. That was in 1992. And from then on, I got hooked," she said.

 

"It so happened I moved to the west coast from the east coast because of work, and then she started her show in Las Vegas, A New Day, which is just, you know, a hop for me from California to Las Vegas, and I have seen that show 119 times in Las Vegas. And enjoyed every single one of them."

 

'How could you not love her?'

 

Almirez estimates she's seen another 30 of Dion's concerts around the world. Yet she was still impressed with Monday night's concert at Winnipeg's MTS Centre to a sold-out crowd of 16,000.

 

"Last night's show, I would say, is one of the best in a long time," she said.

"You could just feel the energy, which was good because Celine was a little under the weather last night, and so the energy the fans provided made it, you know, easier to go through the show."

 

A highlight in Almirez's years of following Dion was the 100th show she saw in Las Vegas, where she had cake and champagne with Dion backstage.

 

"She said, 'My No. 1 fan, Ramona, I love you, Celine.' And she put a kiss on the picture," Almirez said.

 

Almirez even has a tattoo on her wrist: Dion's initials and a rose, symbolizing the 15 roses she's received from Dion at the end of her shows.

 

Some might call the tour an obsession, but Almirez describes it as a passion.

 

"How could you not love her? Look at that face," she said with a laugh. Dion has another concert in Winnipeg Tuesday night — and Almirez will again be in the crowd."

Ya know.. im sorry.. i gotta say something. I think it's always great when other celine fans get to meet celine. She is a great person and i think if you are a huge fan of someone and are truly inspired than i only hope everyone is lucky enough to have there dreams come true. I think it's great that Ramona has had her dreams come true, but now it's getting really ridiculous and truly unfair to all the other fans out there. And frankly, it's getting scary that people are now calling Ramona and legend and are just as excited to meet her as they are celine? That's scary to me that this is what it's come to. Unfortunately, and i hate to say it, but i believe that her luck at this point is solely based on the fact that she has money. Because lets face it, 90% of the fans can not afford to go see all these shows all the time. Believe me, i am a huge fan and i have had my fair share of luck with celine. But i never followed her around the world. I paitently waited, and chatted with people and just was myself. I didn't spend thounsands of dollars, b/c i can't. I truly mean no disrespect to Ramona. More power to her for getting to meet celine. I'm just tired of hearing people praise everything. She is NO different then any other fan out there. And it's just getting to apoint where it is truly not fair and NOT right for other people. I usually don't post anything, or say anything because I know how this forum can get when someone has an opinion that is opposite than the majority. But, this is a forum where you can speak freely and express your view's especially when we all share a common interest.
