KimboCosmo Posted September 17, 2007 at 03:25 AM Posted September 17, 2007 at 03:25 AM I know there is another topic like this one, somewhere, I just know it, but I cannot find it! I am sitting down with my mom figuring out how much this trip is going to cost us total. I need to know from someone who knows what they are talking about and has already been... How much is a cab from the airport to your hotel? Is the Deuce $5 a day? Is it safe? How much is the monorail? Any info would help, thanks! I can't wait till this trip is over, because planning it has been a headache! I can't wait till this trip is over, because planning it has been a headache! When we sayed at New York New York, it cost about $13 (w/out tip). It depends where you are staying, New York is on one end of the strip by Luxor and MGM close to the airport, just to give you an idea. ssbutterfly Posted September 17, 2007 at 04:55 AM Posted September 17, 2007 at 04:55 AM Our cab ride cost about $11 each way from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. We stayed at the Tropicana. You're right that the Deuce is $5 per day. It seemed perfectly safe to me. We took it many times. I was so grateful for it by about the 3rd day we were there. It really saves your feet. I believe the monorail is $5 per ride but you can get a one day pass for $9. Here is their site http://www.lvmonorail.com/ The Deuce seemed to be the easiest way to go. The monorail stations are behind the hotels so it can be quite a walk to get there. The Deuce stops are right on the Strip. Hope this helps. Quote
Erin Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:55 AM Posted September 17, 2007 at 05:55 AM I think a taxi to center strip around Caesars is $15ish? Another option (this is what I always did before I lived in vegas because I usually flew here alone) is the airport shuttles. I think they're $11 a person round trip, so for $22 you could both get to your hotel and then back to the airport when you leave. It can take a little longer because they'll probably have to drop a couple people off before you, but i never minded and then i didn't have to worry about what the fare was going to add up to! lol. Taxis and shuttles are very easy to find from the baggage claim at mccarran Deuce is $5 a day. Monorail is more... like $5 a trip?, or you can buy a strip of tickets or something for a little less. I have honestly never even been on the monorail. It's kind of inconvenient and it costs more, so i guess i've just never felt the need. All the monorail stations are at the back of the hotels (which are huge), so most of the time by the time you walk through the hotel to get to it - you could have just walked where you were going in the first place. Deuce runs right on the strip. The only downside is that it can kind of be a mob scene on weekend nights and traffic can be horrible at night so the bus will be moving slowly..haha. I've taken it a few times at night and I've always felt very safe.. the strip is never deserted no matter how late it gets. the bus has a bunch of cameras and monitors so the driver can see what's going on, too. Practically everything in Vegas is being watched on camera - I feel safer here than in my sleepy little hometown, no lie..haha. don't stress, kim! hit me up if you have any questions - i love vegas, and i love to talk about it even more!! haha Quote facebook / twitter
KimboCosmo Posted September 19, 2007 at 01:35 AM Author Posted September 19, 2007 at 01:35 AM Thanks for all your information, guys...We have officially booked our trip and have a rental car, so I'm excited...we can go anywhere, and are planning to go to California and the Grand Canyon, and to the Hoover Dam...so instead of worrying about tours, we have our own car! adore2celine Posted October 4, 2007 at 06:00 PM Posted October 4, 2007 at 06:00 PM I bought only one day trip of The Deuce(5$) and Monorail(9$). The tickets are completly 24 hours to use after you buy them...So I think I would be save your money very much.!! Quote
Teodora Posted October 5, 2007 at 11:35 AM Posted October 5, 2007 at 11:35 AM Forget about the taxi! There are shuttles from the airport to any hotel, and it's only $5. The deuce and anyother public transport for that matter it's perfectly safe, it's $5 all day, or $2 for one trip. And remember: you're on holiday, walk for God's sake! It's good for your health, you get to see the most things and it was the best damn diet ever! Lost 5 kilograms in 7 days, eating everything I wanted Not to mention: walking is free! Quote
bronzey Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:54 AM Posted October 9, 2007 at 08:54 AM (edited) I'm planning to take a Greyhound bus from LA to Las Vegas. The hotel I'm going to stay at is Flamingo Hotel. The question is, what's the best way to get from the Bus Station up to the Hotel? The last resort for me is apparently taking a cab. Help before December comes. KimboCosmo Posted October 11, 2007 at 05:46 AM Author Posted October 11, 2007 at 05:46 AM Well our rental car in our package was amazingly cheap! It was only like $50 for 8 days! So we were like heck yeah! Also, we have unlimited mileage, which is good considering we are going to California, and the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. I know we'll have to pay for gas, but that is it! And we can stop anywhere along the way and enjoy just it being the two of us and no one saying it's time to leave! So I'm ready...can't wait, only a little more than a month now and we'll be there!! I get cold chills when I think about it! LuisMa Posted October 12, 2007 at 04:19 AM Posted October 12, 2007 at 04:19 AM Taxis in Las Vegas are a little expensive, but I preferred to take them rather than walking A LOT to get on the monorail. I believe you would spend the same time walking from a hotel to another than going all the way to the monorail. But transportation there is very organized and fast. Quote
Doug Tesar Posted November 1, 2007 at 01:38 AM Posted November 1, 2007 at 01:38 AM Hey KimboCosmo, If this is your first time there I must you. YOu will be over whelmed! I have to tell you Oct 5 was my first time there. It is so hard to take it all in but I must tell you being there almost all the hotels have cheep parking or its free. I was there for 3 days but I happened to be there when she got sick. You can read about this on Oct12 topic I talked about it there. Any way have a good time. I wouldn't take the monorail it dosen't save you much time. You have to do alot of walking get to where you want to go anyway. The Deuce is faster plus it makes alot of stops along the way on the strip. I did a lot of walk and went into every hotel on the strip before it use it. I hope the week you are going the weather is not a problem. I would suggest a back up plan on a event just incase something happens. I didn't when she got sick and could get into any other shows they were sold out. As for a taxi it depends what time of day you are flying in. Early in the Morning is not bad at all, I stayed at the Belliago and my cab fare was $15.00 rule of thumb tip driver 3-5 dollars. Bellman at hotel $1.00 per bag. As you know drinks are free some what "your paying for it at casinos" putting in slots or at table but is is best to give waitress $1-2 dollars per drink. I hope this helps with your plans I work in a hotel and theses are the standards that are used... Doug Quote Take Part in World Tour Viideo For Celine Dion
KimboCosmo Posted November 6, 2007 at 08:57 AM Author Posted November 6, 2007 at 08:57 AM Thanks Doug, but we do have a rental car. We also are going to see both "O" and Mystere while there. So we do have other shows to see. Hopefully Celine will not be sick or anything bad happen, especially because I planned the entire Vegas trip because of her. I feel pretty good about it seeing as the night I am going, will be her first night back from a long break. Thank goodness. Doug Tesar Posted November 7, 2007 at 03:01 AM Posted November 7, 2007 at 03:01 AM Great can't wait. By the way what do you guys think of Celine's look for this new album? I am not sure if this topic has been talked about or not. Personally I don't like to look at all, think it is a risk she doesn’t need to take. Celine has class it not her. I know that the promoters are trying this to lure younger generations to like her. Celine has proven she is a true Diva. When you look at artists like example like Tony Bennit . He has come full circle to the audience that he attracts. Young kids today love him! I read that article in news week and frankly some of the comments the reports says are wrong. Especially the one about Celine trying to sing and trying to stay in touch the new artist that are out there now. Celine I am sure will go in history as the great’s pop artist of this century. These artics yes may be hot now but they won’t be around long, they don’t have what it takes to stay on top as she dose… Doug Quote Take Part in World Tour Viideo For Celine Dion
