Love, Posted October 20, 2006 at 04:46 PM Posted October 20, 2006 at 04:46 PM (edited) I'm incredibly excited, nervous, happy and speechless right now. Tonight's the Night!Earlier this year, I had a similar feeling with the premiere of my feature international documentary. But tonight will be as exciting, because at my city's Arts Awards - our biggest annual celebration, I am going to be featured and introduced before ALL the artists, patrons of arts, and special guests and celebrities from across California; and three short films that I created will perform and occupy about 1/3 of the show. Other performers that evening include two international dance / ballet companies and a Puerto Rican Idol. Tonight will be one of my big breaks as an artist, thus far. There will be beautiful red carpets rolled out this evening, the media / press will be there, and right now my heart is beating as fast as a hummingbird!!! I have this song blasting in my stereo right now to keep me at eased:"When I Get There" by Anthony Callea Edited October 20, 2006 at 04:53 PM by Love, Quote

Love, Posted October 21, 2006 at 03:38 PM Author Posted October 21, 2006 at 03:38 PM (edited) Thanks everyone for your wishes! It was one of the most amazing evenings I've ever had! People could not believe me when I told them that this was the first time that I've ever been in this historic theatre... one of two movie palaces here in the valley. And truly I've never. But when I went in for the sound check yesterday afternoon before the show, I was struck by the magnificent beauty of the theatre; they had spent several millions to restore it. I cannot speak much about last night's gala because it's something you have to experience. The atmosphere was just like going to a masquerade without the masks and the stuffiness! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, as expected. There was a worldclass sampling of foods from all of the fine restaurants in downtown... There were jazz music perform under a giant chandelier as we made our way through the magnificient foyer. There was a mariachi band (in some of pictures) that played in front of the theatre to welcome the guests. There were dance performances from hip-hop to interpretation to ballet -ssssoooo many genressss SOOOO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE??? THEY certainly did! There were theatrical plays and drama. There was a fabulous girl who performed Cabaret, and the Puerto Rican Idol contestant sang Robbie William's "Angel" in Spanish which got me soooooo amazed! And of course, my short films/videos included selected scenes from one of my documentaries (as a performance piece) and two tributes to two recipients who are my friends. When I went up to introduce my performance piece, I had the hardest time looking up, because they used this one spotlight that once it was aimed at the person at the podium, it was blinding! But everything so well, and in my brief speech I thanked the many individuals and patrons who have supported my work. I feel very humbled and honored to be there last evening. A new day has come! Now at the request of doomqueen, here are two pictures:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/celinebeat/129358.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/celinebeat/230685.jpg Edited October 21, 2006 at 03:42 PM by Love, Quote

But this photo just looks weird. The background looks so fake behind you. And you look so huge in front of it. Maybe the angle or depth of field? I don't know. I don't know. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v323/celinebeat/91237589.jpgNo need to apologize You have a question about photography and I shall answer it.Yes, the depth of field is amazing in this photograph, especially since it was shot on a worldclass medium format system with just one light source (as seen by the shadow bouncing off to the audience at a low angle, while I stood about 15-20 feet in front of the theatre, with the photographer bending very low about 5 feet in front of me, therefore, elevating me. I thought it'd look better just my upper body cropped and the photograph resized since the original was 100 mb in size. Edited October 21, 2006 at 07:50 PM by Love, Quote
