Did You Know?

October 16 , 2006

In her downtime, Celine loves to read. Rene says that her favourite books are romances and nonfictions that tell "beautiful things about life." Reading particularly became an enjoyment for Celine in 2003, upon receiving the novel Et si c'était vrai (If Only It Were True) by Marc Levy as a gift from a friend. Celine admits that since then she loves to relax by immersing herself in captivating books that she just can't put down.

That's cool! Yes, she did say this before. I guess she wants to make up for all those years when she had no time to read.

I didn't know that! Is that a good book?

I can see her doing that...she songs about love and reads books about love

Yeah, it was mentioned before in some of her biography books...

So, does anyone read this book?

It isn't possible to express my attitude to you, CELINE... There's no suitable words in any language to describe what I feel for you...

This is a G R E A T book!

Also adapted into the well-known movie...

Just Like Heaven

The audiovisual rights to If Only It Were True were bought by Steven Spielberg for DreamWorks in 2000. The film, called Just Like Heaven, directed by Mark Waters and starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo began filming in the Fall of 2004 and was released in the US in September 2005, where it opened number 1 at the box office, the weekend of its release.

But, believe me, the book is a lot more "serious". Many things are different in the movie. You have to read this book even if you saw the movie. I'm glad Celine did read it... Marc Levy has become my favorite writer!

You can find everything about him (even if his books are available in your own country-language) here: http://www.marclevy.info/splash.aspx

About the story...

Arthur has had a long day. He returns to his new home in San Francisco, where packing boxes lie strewn across the living room floor. He musters the energy to clear them away. Satisfied, exhausted,he runs a bath, puts on the radio, and sinks back, surrendering himself to the dulcet tones of Peggy Lee…

Suddenly he hears fingers clicking to the beat of the music. He must be imagining it. Yet the sound continues, clear and distinct. He climbs out of the bath and follows the noise to a closet. He opens the door only to find a woman sitting there - clicking her fingers.

Arthur assumes that his business partner has set up some sort of practical joke. He asks the intruder to leave immediately so that he can get some sleep. The woman is stunned: not only is Arthur still naked, but more importantly, he can see her.

Arthur’s patience is running out: to get rid of this mad woman with her senseless ramblings, he agrees to take her to the hospital, where he hopes he can leave her in safe hands. Lauren takes Arthur to see her body, attached to the life-support machine. Arthur puts his arm around Lauren, trying to comfort her in her madness (obviously the body belongs to her twin sister…) It is only when a nurse walks in and asks Arthur if he has something wrong with his arm that he realizes for the first time that, strange as it may seem, Lauren really is invisible to everyone but him.

A couple unlike any other in a situation even they can’t believe…

this is a love story impossible to forget.

Vous Revoir (which means To See You Again) is a second book-continuation of the story... I've read it too. Happy ending :msn-wink:

Here are some pictures of the UK and USA releases of the book, in english...

LOL! I just saw Just Like Heaven this week! I actually watched it several times. I think Reese Witherspoon is a GREAT actress!

Also glad to know that Céli shares my love of books, though I prefer reading mysteries and sci-fi.
