celine's reaction when told she has the

for those of u who watched celine recently on "the view"...well , one of the women mentioned that her show in vegas is the third most successful show after U2 and the rolling stones . celine just looked at her like she doesnt know what she is talking about - like "what the hell???" . for me it was very clear that it was the first time celine ever heard about it . even we , the fans , know more about her success than she herself . just another proof that her team put her in a bubble and she doesnt really know just how talented she is and what her fans really want - too bad...if she doesnt know about such huge facts ofcours she is not aware to the fact the sony r crashing her career :innocent: Edited by thevoice

i realized that to but i'm sure she new but it is just her reaction

Since when has talent something to do with success, gogo?

And the fact that she is the 3rd sold out tour is not Sony's business. All the money she is making goes to Reney's and Caesars bank account.

On the other hand if you consider the Rolling Stones Richest Rockers List - where the tours and the album sales were considered - she was the only female in the Top 10.

seb this is not my point . her team (which include alot of people from sony) make her live in this fantasy land - "just sing and we will take care of everything else" and it worked pretty good for a long time .

however - celine is much older now and so is rene , rene lost alot of his magic powers and celine truely think for example that her fanbase just loveeeeeeeeeeee OH...i just think she needs to take more control on her career and this little example just prove it (not even knowing that u have one of the biggest shows around???)

Posted

Gogo, the same reaction she gave when they asked her how many copies did FIY sell? She said like 14 million to date but she deosn't really care.

I bet Céline needs to get assured from the side of her fans that we want her to be more edgy in terms of her music. In her biography she told it is Rene who pushes her to try out new things...and that's so hard to believe actually! But she said so, so we have to believe her on that one. It indeed may be that it is her who feels comfortable with the status quo and doesn'T feel any need to change. Perhaps it's just out of pure comfort?

I just wish somebody with a clear state of mind, preferably some of us here, would meet her only like 5 min and tell her what she needs to know desperately.

i agree with u on that one tho she'll probably cry after realizing how she lost most of her fanbase and became a joke in some places thanks to albums like OH and MIRACLE .

and i dont want her to be sad , so maybe u right and it's the best way like this - living in a bubble could be worse...

She would CRY? LOL! I would surely cry as well having a fortune worth of roughly 600 million dollars! :mdr:

u know what i mean!! celine is very touchy...she wants her fans to be happy , it's really important for her to make us proud - we all know that . for celine , there is soooooooo much more than just money in all of this and u know it :giggle:

I don't get your point, gogo. Seems unlogical to me "she lost her fan base". haha 3rd highest grossing tour in the US, a Canadian making bigger money than Mariah Carey, THE superstar diva who made her suppsed come back - but only on the charts. Céline Dion lost her fans base - wherever she gets people are on her feet like in France.

No idea where are you getting these ideas from? You think LTAL was a success? Nope. Only thanks to Titanic. She wouldn't have survived with ballads without Titanic but she somehow got lucky and people bought it. Till now. But that doesn't mean they don't love her anymore.

ohhhh seb , celine is performing in vegas - ofcours her show is a success . alot of the people who come there r just rich people who like to gamble and wouldnt mind to hear celine too as part of their trip . most of the people who come to see her r not fans unlike a world tour in which 90% of the people r pure fans - this is the diffrence .

and u cant say celine hasnt lost any of her fanbase - from selling 30 million albums she is selling 3 million ...yes it's a diffrent world but still she is becoming less and less popular and i can only hope it will all change after vegas.

It's not that her Vegas show isn't about her fans - they are there or else the show would flop and Céline and Elton would switch their schedules! And that you have drunken gamblers in your show is a natural consequence of performing in Vegas.

Well, gogo, SISDA sold about 4 million copies. I see the number of real fans didn't change that much after all. :) The others are only the ones that go with the flow. :whistling:

If she lost most of her fan base as you say, then how can she sell out 4,000 seats a night, come in 3rd after U2 and still be the biggest selling female artist in music history? No one has yet to beat that record. And it's been a lotta years.

Those who hated Celine's Miracle album were not true Celine fans if they wrote her off because of that. I know a lot of guy fans may find it hard to admit to liking some of the music on that album, but they do like it even if they don't admit it in public. And that album was a special project for her not a change in music style. Linda Ronstadt did the same thing with the release of her "What's New" and "For Sentimental Reasons" albums. Just a brief departure form the norm.

I think Celine's fan base has grown up in the past few years to include people in their 30's 40's and beyond. Just look at the crowd in the theater at A New Day. A mix of all ages but a large number of mid-aged folks who are big-big fans. (The woman who received Celine's rose in last weeks performance was 52. and she almost fainted when Celine hugged her) Young people can be pretty fickle when it comes to their favorite artist. My daughter is 16 and has a different favorite artist every year. Celine is not one of them presently, but was several years ago. Go figure. Celine has matured and so has her style and her priorities in life. But her fan base.....huh it's bigger than ever.

I dont think so. It just proves that she is not egocentrical and that she cares more about what is really REAL, her valeus.... all that.

Back to the point in the beggining, what reaction would you expect from Celine whem she was notified about her conquest? Should she said: "I'm reallly good, don't you know it before?"

I don't think so... Celine really knows how talented she is and the size of her success... but she doesn't have to make this the center of her life every time and every way... :bye1:

OMG, she doesn't live in a bubble!!! :mdr:

She just doesn't care, what do you want her to say about her success?

What do you want her to do??To fall down on her knees??

I think it's a perfectly normal reaction :"Yeah, so what?".She knows how gifted she is, that's why she sings, but she's not infatuated...

My opinion.

all of u who say celine doesnt care about success and her career anymore - u couldnt be more wrong .

celine said herself recently - "i want an oscar!!!" , she also said during her last visit to france that she miss performing in big arenas and hearing all the chanting and excitment .

celine is recording ONLY commercial songs in english - mainly because she still care about record sales otherwise her music would sound diffrent - believe me.

i believe celine miss the no 1 position and after vegas she would try to go back there one last time , after that - she'll make albums once in few years and release some really great and not commercial music in english - that only if she would be able to get over her addiction to the cameras and spotlight , great addiction if u ask me - cause we get to see her more!

but celine is a performer in her blood and she is still like an athlete - always thinking about concurring the next mountain . she is still in vegas and already thinks about an oscar -that's not somebody who doesnt care about her career .

You're right, she does care about her career, her success, her reputation and so forth. But she is also wary about being too confident, thinking that it comes off as snobbish or arrogant. How many times has she excused herself saying, "I didn't mean to be precocious", and when Larry King asked her if she believed her voice was a gift, she almost wanted to change the subject and said something to the effect of "well, I don't want people to think I'm arrogant if I say so, but yes I do". And when somebody says she has 'the best voice in the world' she gets all bashful, waves her hand, and tries to pass it off.

She knows she good, she knows she's gifted, she knows she's one of the most successful out there, but she's afraid of looking pompous, upsetting things, having an opinion that turns someone off, so she says nothing and lets it slide. She takes the avenue of modesty and bashfullness so as not to be looked upon negatively.

Well, I think that Céline has lost a big part of her 'fans'. And with that I mean the people who were fans since My Heart Will Go On. People that are just no real fans.

She still has a fan base on which she can relay, it's not as big as it was, but ir are true fans.

Bu from the other side: yes I think she is to far away from everything that happening. Everything she does is planned by everyone, execpt by her. She used to hang on her team, but now she can't do that anymore. Her team ís bad to her career, if they keep making the wrong choices it will be soon over. Then there won't be a period after Vegas..

Yes, Céline thinks she's doing very well, but she doesn't know the facts. Most of the fans love everything she does, but there are some that become more and more critical..

Yes, I think Céline must know about this, but I don't know het reaction. She is leaded by René and the team so... Who will she believe first?

We'll see what it turns out to be...

I don't believe that Celine didn't know that she was the 3rd biggest selling tour! She was bound to know- she's a business woman, it's clear that the Celine/Rene/Caesars Palace machine is a hugely driven and commercial one and it was all over the media for weeks about how she was 3rd, the only female, how she beat Mariah even after Emancipation etc...she's just a humble woman that's all. Sometimes I wish she would say, as Cher did in her farewell tour, "follow this you *censored*" instead of not really reacting as she did in the View. She doesn't want to appear arrogant in my opinion.

Because Celine is in Vegas I think it's up to the record company to the message out there. Think about OH and Miracle in the UK. They had no or very little promotion. They both sold pretty well and were top five album hits. Imagine what she could do with a full on media blitz! :w00t:

To say she doesn't sell as much anymore is very true, but nobody is selling what they sold in the early 90s. FIY sold how much? I doubt we'll see a Celine album that sells that much again.

As for OH I don't understand a lot of the reaction to it (Sony completly messed the promotion for this up!! :angry2: ). She did something different and gave us an album with some great ballads and some great pop songs. Her voice suited all the tracks very well. If she had done a CD in the same style as FIY/LTAL etc she still would have had the backlash.
