keny Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Last Sunday My wife and I saw Celine's show in Las Vegas. This was our second time seeing Celine at her best. Last Thanksgiving we saw her show and I was totally blown away. This began the conversion on my wife. With last Sunday's show now in the past, my wife and I in our spare time this week have done nothing but listen and watch Celine videos and CD's. It's amazing that after you see her show, you can almost think of nothing else for a week. So here is my review of the show before it fades from my mind (right). 5:15pm Arrived a Caesars Palace for dinner and received my voucher for the valet parking. Very classy place. 5:30pm Sat down to dinner at Bertolini's Restaruant in the Forum Shops Mall area. Great food there I recommend it to all. 6:15pm we finished dinner and began our walk to the Coliseum area. This time I had enough nerve to go into Celine's Boutique and not feel embarrassed cause my wife was with me. She suggested it. So I purchased "All The Way" A Decade of Song and Video, and a deck of A New Day playing cards. What the hec, it's Vegas. I wanted to get the live concert video in France but I thought my wife might complain about spending the bucks. So I cleverly waited till the end of the show to return. More on that later. 6:44pm we left the shop and I went over to will call to get my tickets. Praying that Ticketmaster did not screw up. 6:55pm The doors were open to the outer sanctum of the Coliseum so we proceeded through the doors and the metal detectors. I had to give up my camera of course (don't know how some of you made it in with a recorder??). 7:05pm We went to enjoy a alcoholic libation at the swanky bar on the orchestra level. We both ordered a Bombbadeer with a commemerative glass of A New Day. ($28 there) I also bought the $5 bottle water. I had the money, why not. I bought the souvenir program on the first trip last November. 7:45pm After walking around and drinking our drinks we stood by door #3 with anticipation. 7:50pm I heard Celine from behind the double doors to the theater. WOW! Warm up time. I confirmed this with one of the ushers and indeed, before every show she warms up. She starts around 10 til 8 and ends around 8:15pm. She also comes in on Mondays and rehearses with the dancers. 8:20pm We were ushered in to our second row center stage seats in orchestra 4. WOW right on stage with her. (about 10 feet from it anyway) Upon entering the theater you see this gigantic picture frame at the back of the stage. It is an LCD screen of a picture frame with a mirror in it. There was also beautiful red lighting on the floor of the stage. We waited in our seats for the show to begin, talking with other Team members. Many were here for the second and third times. The woman in front of me was an older Celine fan andhas been to the show 5 times including this night. She has had seats in various placesbut tonight, front row! I asked her if she felt nervious about being so close I woud gladly switch seats. (he he) Even she did not know her tickets were VIP tickets She ordered them like the rest of us. Hmmmm. Maybe someone noticed all her ticket purchases and put the word in to get her front row VIP seats. Who could that have been? When you purchase tickets with your Team ID Number, do the powers to be have record of it and maybe want to bless an avid money spending fan? Could be. But, I'll never know. 8:42pm And the show had not started yet. The venue says 8:30 but even last Novembers show started about 8:45. Sure enough a beautiful voice was heard, Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to A New Day. Please turn off all cell phones and beepers. These can be disturbing to the artists performing onstage. Enjoy the show. 8:44pm Music.....and a breaking mirror, the sound of the chorus- A New Day Has Come. The piano starts up it's melodic arpeggio minor scale, and then..... Celine's Voice! I've been waiting for so long...Cheers and cheers as she walks from the back of the stage slowly to the front. After 10 seconds, I am totally taken by the performance and was swept up by her spell for the next hour and a half. This time a made a conscious effort to ignore as much a possible everything not Celine. I focused totally on her performance and let the visuals take a background. The only way to do this show. It's so rare to see her you might as well spend a few hours admiring her. And being that close I could see the pours in he skin (as smooth as the are) Every detail about her was present in these first few rows. Don't take any other seats if you can help it. After the first song finished with "Hush Now", the stage went dark. After a few moments, the spot light came on Celine, and she went right into "The Power of Love." One of my favorite Celine songs. I couldn't wait for the signature ending and to see her perform it up close. Usually when you see recorded performances, the stupid camera guys pan off to a long shot and then come back in at the end. That sucks. I want to see her do that fantastic "power of LOVE...............OVE" not the stage. It's amazing! I really enjoyed her speeches and her wonderful high pitched talking voice. You know the one, "Thank you, Goodnight" Love it. "I'm Alive" was sung just how I love it. Celine plays with the audience very well, and that wonderful opening Hum. Gotta love it. Other things of note during the performance was her mention of the 500th show coming up in May (I hope someone records it, hint hint). The French songs were great. "I Wish" was fun and energetic and pure Celine song and dance. And at the end she collapses flat on her back with her legs hanging on the stairs to the stage. You can't believe how close she is at this point. Then, to top off that cool ending, she begins the next song "Love Can Move Mountains" lying on her back! Bet Wayne Newton can't do that. "My Heart Will Go On" was terrific as always. The ending "hum" was a good one. Love those "hums." During "It's a Wonderful World, our pictures were up on the screen behind Celine. I wish I had a camera to get that image. Finally the end, the bows and the best thing of thee show for the woman in front of me. Celine! Celine gracefully walked down the stage stairs to the first row and gave her a red rose (that was handed to her by "the man in white"), and a hug. The woman fell apart with tears (of joy) and a whaling cry. Celine comforted her and said, "Don't cry honey, I love you too. Everything will be alright. I wanted to reach out to Celine (I was certainly close enough) and touch her and thank her for her wonderful music, but I froze. I'll never forger, last November a young guy in the first row called out to her Celine, Please. She turned around, looked at him, and motioned to him to come for a hug. She approached him, he approached her, and he got a hug and a pat on the back he will never forget. MANoMAN. I wish I had his nerve last Sunday. That's my take on Last Sunday, March 19, 2006 show. I hope you enjoyed the story. Regards all, Ken Quote
