MALAYSIA: Celine was very popular back on Falling Into You and Lets Talk About Love era ( 1996 - 1999). Her most popular songs here is I Love You, MHWGO and Because You Loved Me . Without any hit songs today, her name will forgotten but she still one of the best selling foreign artist in Malaysia. Falling Into You album has sold about 200,000 units here. The most popular female singer in Malaysia , Siti Nurhaliza named Celine Dion as her idola because of her powerful voice and great personality she has.

in Hong Kong, If you say about Celine Dion, most people will reply "MHWGO" or "Titanic".

I don't know how many albums she has sold in Hong Kong. But not popular to play French songs, maybe none in radio.

Everything has been said about Portugal. A new day has come did very good here but after that it wasn't that good due to poor promotion.

I don't live in mainland Portugal, I live in the portuguese islands called Azores and in my island she is very popular. She is played on the radio a lot of times everyday, she is requested everynight in a radio show where people request music, she is in every party, every wedding, everywhere.

Here in Belgium, it's needless to say that she is very very huge!
since D'eux (except One Heart and ANDLLV)all her albums have been number 1!

She is considering like the biggest female artist and as "the voice".

I don't know where you live, but in Flemish speaking Belgium, Celine is often a target of sarcasm ... I don't understand this because she sells indeed a lot and very very often stood on number one. She's the biggest selling artist in Belgium during the last 10 years :clap: :clap:

Hello From Greece . Celine has been very popular here from 1993-2004. Almost ALL Her Albums have been #1 and certificated gold+platinum . TCOML, FIY, LTAL, SISDA, ATW , TCSV1, ANDHC, OH, 1Fille even LILV were NO1!!!!!

All her hits were played on greeks radios too. Some of her songs are classical here, MHWGO, TPOL, BYLM, IACBTMN, TTWIS, ANDHC, PQTME, WTWOLYR and many more. Even Just Walk Away, I Love You, Make You Happy are still played on greeks Radios. Unfortunately that stopped after IDAN...

She has been many many times on Greek Tv. One week before ANDHC release Celine was on TV channels for days!!!

She has been the best selling foreign artist in Greece!!!

SWEDEN: Celine is quite popular here. Her music is still played on radio so the previous info is true. Every time she releases an album/single it get's a chance.. She got many commercials for One heart/1F4T and Tout l'or des hommes was played on radio..

She is NOT considered as a joke here.. and many girls dream of singing like "Celine".. When there are no albums or singles, it gets quiet.. but some radio stations always play music from 1993-1996

About Mexico, I think she was know as the singer who sang the titanic song, or the singer who won a grammy years ago, that because always broadcast the Oscars and Grammys in an open tv, so the music and gossip tv shows and that time talk about her a lot. I remember seeing years ago in an open TV, the special of christmas with Andrea Bocelli, the divas show, even a little reportage of her french album S'Il suffisait d'aimer.

Now it is so rare that they speak of her. But she is still know ^_^ , maybe not for the young people.

The fact here is the music from USA have a enormous influence here in Mexico so all the new bands and singer are now so famous and very know here.

Everyone in haiti loves her there. If you don't that's like unheard of or even a sin! Seriously!! Ever since Celine started her french speaking career and had her first hit like CNQR and LVDBD (82'), everyone knows her. She's a house hold name. They especially love her for the D'eux albumn in 95'. So her greastest time was (year 82' to 99'). It's just her career lately that no ones really going crazy for her like they used to. They're just stuck in the past and play her old french stuff....

im from ONTARIO, CANADA (the province next to QUEBEC), and CELINE is still generally respected and loved here, depending on who you talk to...

granted, all of her albums are displayed and therefore sell well here in CANADA, and granted, it's impossible for anyone to deny that CELINE DION knows how to sing, and that she has an impressive range and power to her voice, and believe you me, whenever i hear someone dissing (pardon that reference to MISLED) her, i always throw that argument at them, and they always end up saying something like, "well, ok, ur right; she's got a lot of power in her voice, and she sings well, but i still think her music is cheezy", which i have heard on more than one occasion...

anyway, all in all, CELINE is loved here in ontario and also in canada, and her music sells quite well, with or without promotion...

MALAYSIA - Well everyone knows who she is! In fact at least people know Celine's famous for MHWGO. However, there are some adult contemporary radio stations do play Celine music all the time.

I am from Venezuela and not too much people know her but the the ones that really knows who she is they really love her, here you can buy mostly all her cds even Al Olympia wich I found in a verry small store on twon (that was lucky), her music doesn't sound as much as in other countrys but sometimes in a radio station they make an special of Celine like for 2 hours.....

It has to be clear that not everybody like her music here but thjey know that she has the voice of an angel

Celine is played, loved and she is one of the greatest artists here.90% loves her.All her albums are founded here since Unison,(I saw last week 2 copies of DMQS in 1 of the stores :clap: ).I know that One heart single was not very popular in the world, but here the song was no2 on the radiostation, IDAL no 1, I`m alive was a huuuuuuuuge hit with no 1 peak.Miracle album was no 4 on the charts, here is always on the radio(IACBTMN, MHWGO, IA, ANDHC was a huge hit to no 1, BYLV, TTWII; even I love you, Just walk away is playing on the radio)

What is weird, that MTV loves Celine to.Tout l`or des hommes was playing to, I drove all night, ANDHC were hits to on the charts(ANDHC was no8 of the year 2002).I don`t know somebody to say that Celine is bed, and I LOVE HER TO

So Celine is still popular here, with Miracle to.

I lived in Japan for 2 years and it is exactly the same.

I don`t think it is such a bad thing, because Titanic gave her career a huge boost. :flowers:

Same here for many people in China. I think it's because many people here can't speak English or not good at it. So they can't remember foreign singer's name. They remember the singers by songs. At least many of them remembers songs sung by Celine. It's still quite a big archievement for a foreign singer here.

From what I have read so far ... Céline is known in every country from Venezuela to Australia!

I think it's big.. well, maybe, people don't like her but at least they know her! For me It's a big achievement and it proves that she is a worldwide superstar!

What I wanted to add is that ... in every country , people like and don't like her (it's the same for every artist.. ) but all admit that she has a voice, she is very talented! It's something you can't take away when you speak about Céline.

When I speak to people and I say "I like Céline" they always tell me " I don't like her that much but she has a wonderful voice"...

So far I 've never heard something like "she can't sing" or something else.It's a good thing.

For example, when u speak about Britney (it's just an example..) you can't tell 'oh her music sucks, she can't sing but she can xxxx... "NOoooo IT's impossible if you don't like her to find something positive.

I am interested to know how popular she is in different countries?!? Please feel free to represent yours.....

For the UK she is a quiet selling artist. Everyone knows who she is, oh yes, but she's not a huge hit with her music (nothing compared to France or USA)

And for SOUTH AFRICA she's MASSIVE! She is played all the time on the radio, in music shops their are stacks of her CD's, Just a month ago i got Unison! and everyone loves her. Unfortunatley, she is slighlty commercialised so the radio satations tend to play the same songs over and over......

CELINE FANS.....Fly South African Airways....they love her, always playing her onboard!!!

I agree that things have been quiet in the uk recently because the last a 2 english studio albums never made number 1 but One Heart was number 3 and Miracle was no 5 which were still great feats becasue there were no singles release before and there was little to no promotion but they still charted high. She hasnt released a single here since 2003 which is a shame because there have been some great songs and I think "you and I" could have been massive.

Celine however has had 5 no 1 platinum selling albums in the uk. She has had 2 million selling singles "Think Twice and MHWGO" although my heart will go on sold more than 2 million making her one of only 4 females to do this, cher, kylie and whitney being the other 3.

She has had 27 top 40 hits in the uk with half of them going top 10.

Deux the album was no 8 in the uk album chart making it the biggest selling non english album in the uk.

She was the first since the beatles to have a number one single and album stay at the top for more than 5 weeks (think twice and the colour of my love) think twice stayed there for a further 2 weeks.

When she released ANDHC she was presented with a special diamond disc for sales of more than 15 million albums and singles making her the biggest selling female artist in the uk.

I just hope that she releases something else soon because we miss her in the uk.

She has had 5 no.1 consecutive english studio albums, no other artist has ever done that in the Uk, and although she always gets slated by the press, her albums still sell when she promotes them, and as long as the music remains good they will continue to sell. Go celine, you are a legend

mmm...I need to change something about Taiwan.
ONCP didn't go to the chart in Taiwan (G-music or 5 Music).
Celine's French songs are not very popular here.
But her English album always goes to No1 (since Falling Into You)
FIY even sells 700,000 copies more higher than local artists.
ANDHC sells 150,000 copies in 2002.
Celine does't come here for promotion.
I hope we can meet her in Taiwan.
in Taiwan well many people like her and she's still quite popular too but the lack of promotion let the albums didn't sell that much, but ANDHC was the best selling album in 2002 in Taiwan!!! and ONCP got like no4 in the chart too.

here in New Zealand not as popular as before as sonybmg new zealand doesn't really promote celine... so many don't know what she's up to or something, and some even thought that Rene's already passed away because of the cancer (in 1999) ....... her last single released here was I Drove All Night.....
although they did promote Miracle in book shops but the album only got up to #26 in the chart...

those who know her : she is a very respectful artist, number one, very exceptional, very unique,very pofessional in a way that no one can be like her, very legendary,really an internatuional model.even those who dislike her, share this opinion about her which is great. but they found her very ugly.they found that her voice is very much high that they feel migraine every time they hear her.

those who just know that she is the divine voice on the film of Titanic.

BTW, ANDHC was number 1 selling album for several weeks (with very good promotion from Sony)
