Bellamy Posted February 12, 2006 at 06:31 AM Posted February 12, 2006 at 06:31 AM In good company Eric Carmen says "All by Myself" has been covered by 100-plus artists. Here are some noteworthy attempts: Frank Sinatra: You can hear a clip of his "My Way"-ish rendition at www.ericcarmen.com. Inexplicably, Ol' Blue Eyes changed the lines "And makin' love was just for fun/Those days are gone" to "Makin' love was just for fun/That day is done." Was the lovemaking really confined to a single 24-hour period? Poor guy. The Ray Conniff Singers: Brought their multipart, Mu- zaky harmonies to bear on the tune for their aptly titled "Send in the Clowns" album. "The Ray Conniff Singers had an interesting concept," Carmen says. "Seventy-five people standing on a riser, singing 'All by Myself.' " Hank Williams Jr.: Recorded a twangy, tear-in-your-beer interpretation, long before the country superstar became famous for the "Monday Night Football" theme. Are you sure Carmen done it this way? Babes in Toyland: Made a grungy mess of the song on their "Nemesisters" album. "It was pretty darn funny," Carmen says. "I laughed for quite a while when they got to the solo and no one could play it." Celine Dion: Took "All by Myself" back into the Top 5 in 1997, peaking at No. 4 and paving the way for her similarly bombastic "Titanic" smash, "My Heart Will Go On." During a 1998 concert at Gund Arena, Dion dedicated "All by Myself" to Carmen, who was in the audience. Il Divo: No, not the new-wave band from Akron. This international "popera" quartet's new Spanish version of "All by Myself" sounds like something from "Carmen," the opera. Eric Carmen's verdict? "They did a fabulous job with it."Source: http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/pla...4110.xml&coll=2 Interesting info. I didn't know this before. Bellamy Posted February 13, 2006 at 01:39 PM Author Posted February 13, 2006 at 01:39 PM Eric Carmen's version of "All by Myself" is my 2nd favourite. Although, it's not as beautiful and dramatic as Celine's version, but it's more depress. And I like the arrangement of his version, especially the long version. RLAAMJR. Posted February 17, 2006 at 02:07 AM Posted February 17, 2006 at 02:07 AM well, he must have felt euphoric upon hearing his song sung by a female singer who has a great and powerful voice. in fact, i only knew eric carmen when Celine had her version of that song. Quote
winforlife Posted February 17, 2006 at 04:08 AM Posted February 17, 2006 at 04:08 AM I didn't like the original version until Céline made it popular again. Carmen's version is a bit depressing unlike Céline's which gives hope Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v119/LKlafter1/1367035680_small.jpg
Célinefull Posted February 17, 2006 at 06:41 AM Posted February 17, 2006 at 06:41 AM I still believe that Céline's version isn't sad enough, but it is very powerful. Quote http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/7108/ziegfieldgirlbanner.jpg
