News about the A New Day... DVD

It just occured to me: now we must really hope they includ the ENTIRE track list and don't edit it and leave out tracks such as I Surrender or Seduces Me....

They'll release Blue-Ray Disc players in the middle of this year. Also SONY Playstation 3 can play Blue-Ray disc too.

 

 

I don't think so, Bellamy. Not everybody will be able to read Blue-ray or HD. That's pointless cuzz I better have an AMAZING quality DVD rather than cheaply made Blue-ray which no soul can read cuzz nobody got the stationary players.

I don't think release Blue-Ray version is pointless. We'll have Blue-Ray Disc players this year, although expensive at first, but price will drop dramaticly soon. Also SONY PS3 can play Blue-Ray Discs too. Many people would have it, and it's won't be too expensive.

 

Also, SONY had released ATW SACD version back in 1999. Almost nobody have player can play SACD at that time. But many players can play it now. I reeally think SONY should use newest and the best technology on Celine discs like before. Not a bad production like the crappy LAP, ONCP DVD. Also they already have the best HD cams installed for the A New Day... show already. So it's quite easy for them to do it.

I have some High Definition DVD's and I haven't seen any difference between the other (good) normal DVD's. The footage (movie/concert) might be shot in HD but it always has to be converted back to the dvd standard before pressing the dvd. HD means sharper and more detailed picture (also bigger)..

A true HD footage will be possible with the new media standard (blue ray.. or whatever).

 

I think it's just marketing strategy so far.

It's like when they introduced the Q-Sound back in the 90's (Madonna - Immaculate collection) that had "better sound".. but it's still just normal stereo tracks with slightly wider stereo image.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I can't believe this!!! I doubt they'll exclude any parts of the show. It's not like this is another CBS special. I bet they'll release the full show.

Don't worry. They'll release normal DVD version can play on any DVD player for sure. I'm just talking about I want a HD version of the show which would be amazing.

You're right current "High Definition" DVD are just shoot by HD cams, but still release in DVD format. So it's still the same thing. I'm talking about a real HD version on Blue-ray disc which will be released in this year. U2 will be the first artist release Blue-ray disc. I hope Celine's A New Day show will have a Blue-ray disc HD version too.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't release it in HD, I'm just not interested. All that fuss with Blue ray and HD DVD means nothing for me. I agree that technology should move forward but I've spent alot of money building myself nice dvd collection of movies, series etc. and I really don't want to start all over again just cause there's new format on the market, especially since the quality of picture and sound on the regular DVD's is great (if done properly of course). Sure, there's a little better quality on HD DVD's and Blue Ray but it's not that much better. Just my humble opinion. That said, I agree that they should release Vegas concert in more formats than one so everyone should buy what they want.

Finally, some "news" about the DVD all it took was a bunch of fans to write feedback to them I think we should continue to tell them what WE, the fans want. They should release like a 5-disc version of the DVD

 

I don't think Sony should have trouble releasing a blu-ray version of the concert, many old dvds will be ported over to blu-rary / HD DVD. People that want the best will pay the premium Besides, Sony is the founder of Blu-rary so I don't they will pass up on this opportunity to give fans the most realistic concert experience!! Not to mention that Blu-ray features interactivity with the disc via the Internet.. I'm just excited that we are even getting a DVD, lol

 

oh and HD is 6 times more resolution than DVD, not 4 as Bellamy said I've seen some really good HD material and it's absolutely jaw-dropping

 

So, we should compile a Wish List for the concert and send it via the celinedion.com feedback forum:

 

1) 16:9 aspect ratio

2) DTS 6.1 sound / Dolby HD Audio ( http://www.dolby.com/promo/HD/ )

3) Multi Angle (gives you the option to choose the viewing distance, angle from the stage )

Anamorphic 16:9 widescreen

Shoot by High Definition cams

High bitrate

PCM, Dolby 6.1, DTS 6.1 audio tracks

Multi languges subtitle

Multi angles

Tons of Easter eggs

 

Forgot to mention Blue-ray disc version should be able to have all these features in HD in 1-2 discs.
