12:30 p.m. GMT) Celine Dion and legendary producer Quincy Jones are teaming up for the first time. Dion and Jones got together at the Palms recording studios on Tuesday (YESTERDAY) for a special record. They are collaborating on a song for a tribute CD to Italian composer Ennio Morricone, best known for scoring Clint Eastwood's classic spaghetti western "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly."

 

"It's the principal reason why we accepted, to work with Quincy," Dion's husband/manager Rene Angelil said. Oscar-winning lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman have written the lyrics for the song, titled "I Knew I Loved You," which didn't have lyrics in director Sergio Leone's 1984 film "Once Upon a Time in America," starring Robert DeNiro and James Woods. Nominated 16 times for Oscars, the Bergmans won Academy Awards in 1968, 1973 and 1984 for the songs, "The Windmills of Your Mind," "The Way We Were," and for the score for "Yentl."

 

 

Angelil said Dion's first album in four years will come out next year, when her four-year run at Caesars Palace ends. A meeting with her record company is scheduled for next week, he said.

I am not sure tho how the outcome will be...I mean Quincy is so old now and I bet the new track "I Knew I Loved You" will be a fore-taste of things to come.

Rene just counts ANHDC as the last English album.. that's OVER 4 years..

Or if he counts OH, that's 3,5 years. And he specifically said NEXT year.

 

So I'm assuming it will be released in October/November.. in time for X-mas..

Just like OH was released together with the first AND show, so will her next English album released together with the final AND show(s)..

You don't know how René counts. I know, though. Céline has never launched two albums simulaniously. Besides they will meet up with Columbia next week and they would never agree to that. March 2008 is not only mathematically correct (since Miracle) but also logical.

Besides aren't they just talking about that French album? And I think cooperating with Quincy Jones is just for this one song...Even though it's logical to release a new English album it's not really there in the article is it?

About Quincy Jones - yes, I also thought they were referring to just this one song, not Céline's whole album. Who knows how long does he have left to live LOL But I bet he will be part of it especially if their collaboration goes well.

I definately know how he counts and things. He things big. And that's why he mentioned 4 years. People like him always overestimate. And he, like I do, thinks that One Heart was her last full/'normal' studio album (Miracle wasn't. Besides, if it was Miracle, the album should be out at the end of 2008).

 

Also, there's a first time for everything. Perhaps they're going for a full scale marketing blitz. New DVD, new French CD, New English CD, end of the show.

I've heard, Celine has to do a lot of promoting next year.

 

Oh btw, René wouldn't have said that if Columbia/Sony Music wouldn't have agreed with that. Besides, we all say how René has *too much* influence, well if he says NEXT year (=2007), at the end of the show, it will happen NEXT year. Besides, all record companies aim for their big releases for the Holiday/X-mas season. And I have a pretty good feeling this will be a big release....money money money!

Yes the collaboration with Quincy Jones, as mentioned in this article, is only for the song. BUT, like Siur said.. if they like it, there's a good chance he'll also work on her new English album.

 

Also, if it was the French album they meant, I'm sure they would specifically write "French album", as this is an English interview, with an American newspaper.

 

Also, it was René who mentioned an August 2007 release date for the French album and here he says "next year when the show ends".

Everything's possible. It would be pulling out all stops to get her back in the picture/business. Celine could even go to Europe in October to promote both albums. If René said it, you know it's true/it will happen, whatever a "know-it-all" claims.
