leenylover Posted January 23, 2006 at 07:03 PM Posted January 23, 2006 at 07:03 PM (edited) I am planning a trip to see Celine this year, sometime in the summer hopefully. I am fulfilling a ten year dream to see her in concert and I cannot wait! The only trouble is I can't seem to find much discussion from fans who have been already, about how to get the best experience. I live in the UK, so it will be a big journey for me, which I don't mind at all. But all the official holidays to Vegas are hugely expensive! I have seen the tour packages, but they are only for a week and I have a two week holiday in mind, so I would rather make my own way and do a bit of travelling other surounding towns or states while I am there. So what I am really asking is has anyone else from the UK been to see her yet and what are the best deals? Is there anyone local who could recommend how to go about getting the best deals on local attractions and accommodations? And, as time is running out to see Celine in Vegas, why don't we have an area at this forum dedicated to helping people find out information on getting to see our favourite Diva? It could also be the area where fans can submit show reviews, photos and bootlegs, what do you think? LD1977 Posted January 23, 2006 at 08:30 PM Posted January 23, 2006 at 08:30 PM (edited) Hi there, I am from Holland so I guess the traveltime to Vegas will not be much different from yours... When you go there you will think: What the hell was I thinking? Its a very long trip and you will feel really tired... Every time I go there I think: this is the last time! But after a good night sleep you will forget about it and enjoy your time! And I guess we are lucky because the jetlag will be worse when you go home. You say you will go there in the summer, but you have to aware of the fact that its really, really hot over there in the summertime. If you have a free choice, you'd better pick another season because it will be too hot to be outside the hotels a lot... And the difference in temperature between the hotels (airconditioning) and the outside-temperature is just enormous! So, if you dont have to go in the summer necessarily, think about it and keep in mind that it will be too hot in the summer! I have been to Vegas 3 times now to see Céline, the first time we booked a package for 7 nights that included planetickets and the hotel. The last few times I booked my hotel and the tickets myself by internet (you just have to do some searching, one time I found a cheap one at www.expedia.nl, I guess this is a worldwide company so you can try www.expedia.co.uk) and the last time I was lucky enough to book a cheap stay at the site of the hotel itself. You just have to do a lot of searching and compare prices. Also for the flight its worth to do some searching. Usually the American airlines are cheaper than the European ones, for instance US Airways is much cheaper than KLM. So, the hotels... As you will know there are plenty of hotels in Vegas... I enjoyed being in a hotel at the Strip because it gives you the real Vegas-feeling, but I know other people like to stay 'downtown' as well, its a bit cheaper. But if you want to stay at the Strip, Bally's has reasonable prices and is reaaaaaaaaaaally close to Caesars. Paris is next to Bally's, a little more expensive but really beautiful as well. But if you want to make your holiday complete and dont care about the price, stay at Caesars... It must be a dream come true to walk to the Colosseum without leaving the hotel, just take the elevator, go down et voila... The entrance of the Colosseum just a litte inside walk away If you are in Vegas, make sure you also visit the Venetian. Its my favourite, so beautiful and with amazing shops! Showtickets can be easily booked at www.ticketmaster.com Make sure you become a member of Team Céline, it will guarantee good tickets and you will get a discount as well. Front row tickets are hard to get but its worth to try at the night of the show. We were lucky, we went to the ticketbox 5 minutes prior to the show and got the best tickets in th house, first row, in the middle of the Colosseum! When you are in Vegas its really nice to see if there are any other shows you want to visit as well. Cirque du Soleil is really great, I saw 'O' and it was amazing! If you want to be sure you have (good) seats, make sure you buy these tickets as soon as they go on sale as well. You can buy them at www.ticketmaster.com or www.bellagio.com. Almost every hotel has its own show, so make sure you check them out! There is so much to tell, so maybe its better if you ask questions about what you want to know? Feel free to ask! Lucie Posted January 23, 2006 at 10:36 PM Posted January 23, 2006 at 10:36 PM Summer is one of the cheapest times to go (hotels are cheap cheap cheap then because it's so hot). I've found the reviews at Trip Advisor pretty good, you can reasearch different hotels there. Expedia is my lover. I book almost all of my stuff through them. They have a Vegas Power Pass that lets you into a lot of attractions for $105. Ditto to Bally's. It's the best bargain for the location. I've only stayed there once (the second time I went to Vegas), but I keep saying I'm going to stay there again. I would definately see one of the Cirque shows while you're there (if you can tear yourself away from Celine for a night!). O & Ka are awesome, so is Mystere, but O & Ka are more unique. Check the magazines in your hotel rooms for deals, also there is a magazine in the back of the taxi cabs with coupons for 2-for-1 shows, dinners, etc. Quote facebook // twitter
Mozinha Posted January 23, 2006 at 11:01 PM Posted January 23, 2006 at 11:01 PM My little tips: -Try to protect your skin/lips/hair from humidity. It's so dry, it's crazy. Try to carry some water with you all the time -I don't really know what you're looking for when it comes to hotel. When I went I was not looking for luxury hotels, I was looking for confort and security and low prices. So I picked Circus Circus. It's not expensive, it has great rooms, great and not expensive restaurants/gift shops, the staff was great, it has a lot to see there, even an amusement park with rollercoaster and stuff. It's 24 hours of fun. I love it. There's only a problem about it: it's a little far from Ceasars, something like a 20/25 minutes walk. It worked for me because I love to walk, I usually walk a lot and all I really wanted to walk around Vegas and see everything I could. -Other shows you might want to see, it depends on what kind of things you like. Cirque du Soleil is a must: O, Ka, Le Reve, Mystère, Zummanity... There's also the Blue Man Group. Everyone loves this one. -Don't forget the little things you can get along the way: The Sirens of TI (a pirate's show right in front of the Treasure Island hotel- FANTASTIC and for free), the Venice gondoles rides at The Venetian hotel (the most beautiful hotel in Vegas) Eiffel tower at Paris hotel (a little expensive but fun), Sharks at Mandalay Bay, Lions at MGM Grand, Secret Garden at The Mirage with lions, tigers, leopards, elephants and cute dolphins. And, of course the WONDERFUL fountains of Bellagio. Don't miss this one. It's really wonderful! -There is so much to see, pay attention to the little things, it's worth to stop for each one -Ceasars Palace is the paradise. I could have spent my entire life there. And please, don't forget to gamble. -I used to eat at the shopping mall. It was definately not expensive and the food was very nice. It was 10 minutes walk from my hotel. Very nice! -Shop a lot a Celine's boutique!!!! My concern about my trip to Vegas was not to spend too much. I knew what I needed and I'm definately not rich so I chose the confort over luxury. And I knew I'm not going back to Vegas. It was one chance only, the dream of a lifetime. I had to live it to the fullest. That's what I did. I had the time of my life there. So, whatever you do, ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF IT! celines_girl Posted January 24, 2006 at 03:14 AM Posted January 24, 2006 at 03:14 AM I would just take a day off and don't plan a thing and just walk down the strip and go wherever you feel like. I did this one day and it was awesome I had to plan to stick to and didn't have to go anywhere and only stopped when I was hungry. You should check out the Wynn is it brand new and really neat. Also when you are there get a MONRAIL ticket it saves alot on walking especially when it is really hot. Trust me I went during the hottest time of the summer. It was 120 for 3 days in a row. The eiffel tower is awesome and has great views of the strip. I would recommend that. For food. If you like chinesse there is an awesome sort of fast food but quite and dark place in the MGM I think I ate there about 3 times while I visited About Ceasars Palace there is a free show in the way back of the forum shops I was intresting but not one of the best. But I would recommend going in the shops they have some intresting stores you have to check out Also don't forget about the Celine chips at Ceasars. Just ask at the counter and they will get you one. Depp27 Posted January 24, 2006 at 09:28 AM Posted January 24, 2006 at 09:28 AM If you go durring the summer it's gonna be REALLY hot. When I went in August it was around 115 degrees. Spring is the best time tempature wise. But honestly, Vegas is great...especially the Forum for shoping..SO great...but two weeks in vegas I Think is a little much. I would split it and maybee rent a car and drive into LA or something. It is only like a 3 hour drive from Vegas to LA...I do it ever time I go there it's great. AS far as the show goes...team Celine tickets are great...the orchestra seats are dead center and they start in the second row, so she makes eye contact and everything with you. But, just a hint, if you wanted to get tickets on the spur of the moment. The box office will tell you they are sold out..go around 4-5ish and tickets will open up...and they are always the good seats. Enjoy your trip!!! Quote
