Ok... I have tons of Celine Videos on my computer in various formats (RealVideo, MPEG, AVI, M2V, etc.) I would like to be able to create DVDs of my celine videos to play on a DVD player but all I have is a CD-R Drive.  Still, I heard it is possible to create DVDs with a CD-R drive, but that there is a process with conversion and stuff and that you need a program like Nero or something. My CPU system is Windows ME (kinda old). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
:confused1:  :confused1:  :confused1:

Thanks,

Some DVD players can read SVCD files along with various other formats. Most players can read mpeg if you burn it as a VCD, the mpeg file has to be vcd-compliant though (Nero will say if it isn't) If yours could play svcds, then you can simply use Nero to burn the file as a svcd disc. For the other formats such as realvideo, avi, again it depends on your player. Some could read all formats including mp3s without the need to re-encode the file. You simply burn it as any ordinary data CD. Philips dvd players can read many formats.  :thumbsup2:

I think no DVD-player can play realmedia. but all can play VCD, and most can play SVCD. so you better burn them into VCD or SVCD by CD burner.

Yes indeed VCD and SVCD is the only ones you can burn with a cd recorder.. And you can not make dvd's with it you have to burn the files as vcd on your cd's

Thanks everyone,

I wanted some info on this topic too. It's too bad no DVD player plays RealMedia, (just as I thought).

My JVC player plays DVD Video/SVCD/VCD/Audio CD/MP3
So I'm happy with what I have, and I use Nero 5 to create both VCD and SVCD.

I had Easy CD Creator 5, but that only creates VCD's.

Thanks again everyone.  :)  :bye1:

You could burn a CD as a svcd  and vcd but not using blank DVDs. DVDs are a little more complicated than regular CDs. Philips could play everything except realvideo, realmedia files.  :thumbsup2:  Go to http://www.dvdrhelp.com for more information.

Sorry to bring this OLD topic up again.....

What I would like you guys to know is that since I bough DVD-writer and it burned stuff to DVD. Some of DVDs can be watched by DVD-player!!!!!

However, those DVD that I burn to watch on TV take about 10 or 11 hours!!! yes!!! HALF A DAY! to burn only one dvd!!!!! It takes this long because all of the videos which I want to burn into DVD have to be transcoded. Moreover, if I would like to burn the video to DVD as data, it would take only 1 hour and a half..... It's not really that bad if I don't mind watching those videos on DVR.

Should you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask me about it!

I didn't know it takes so long! What about if the files are already in .VOB format? Will it take long? I don't have a DVD burnner, but I have a few vob's and just wonderin' if that'd take long too. :ermm:

Thanks for the info!

Well, Actually it would take LONGER if you have small files. Things that I do to get rid the problems is BURNING the file which I'm considered that BIG such as VOB, MPEG, or M2V..... This will help reducing sometime.... I can tell right now that it's not that much different. It's still taking sometime like 8 hours.... It's still better than 10 hours though  :msn-tongue:

Most of the time, I just burned them as DATA because it takes only 1 hour and a half..... Eventhough, I know that it can be watched on computer only...

transcode does take a lot time. but if you burn it as Data DVD, or pre-encoded and authored DVD video use 16x burner, it will take 8 minutes only.

When I get a new one, I want to get it with all of it so.....

Finally, someone agree with me on how long it takes to have files to be transcoded....

Eventhough, the DVD burner, the one that I have is 16X burner and it's worth around $190 in the market right now!, doesn't really make that much different! It's because I burn those files to DVD-R which the fastest that it can go for is only 8X....

I didn't disagree on the transcoding time.. never had to do it :P Just get a DVD player that reads raw m2v files and you'll be all set :D

I didn't know there were DVD players that played raw M2V files without re-ecoding :o

what I find easy for me is, convert all your files to mpeg2, I use Alive video converter to do this, then burn using Nero. For me, it doesn't take long. If you have an old computer it would be wise to upgrade, as making dvd's on an old computer will just be plain slow. An AMD and Intel Processor, at least 2ghz would be best.

Scully: You look constipated, actually.
