Thank you, summed up beautifully.

This song was the reason I've wanted to play flute, and managed to play this song only by hearing.
"Needed in the chaos and confusion, from the plains to City Hall
Needed where the proud who walk the wire are set to fall"

This is the song that made me knew Celine... And fall in love with her
Also, I learned to play flute because of this song...
I love it so much.

This is my favorite performance:

Seeing AIWFCIY ruling the charts years after being released, I wonder if MHWGO could have returned to chats again in 2017, 20 years after Titanic came out.

It would be so beautiful if it dominates the world once again  Maybe 2024?

Anyway, I think my favorite live performances of MHWGO are:

- at The Rosie O'Donell show
- at ANDHS TV Special
- at Oprah (original key omg)
- at Billboard 2017 (beautiful look & sung so emotionally)

To be honest, I was never a big fan of MHWGO live performances. There is something special in Celine's voice in the album version that has never been translated well on stage. Even in Divas Live: her vocals were on fire that night, but ughh... it sounds emotionless to me.

However, I think Celine's voice in 2002 was closest to the album version. So nice to hear these two live performances, even though they are not in full. After 2002, her voice became tired and nasal, and I can't listen to that Live in Las Vegas live. They made it even worse with that editing making Celine sound as a robot.

Her live performances after James Horner deaths were very interesting and versatile!   The humming was nice and suitable at the beginning, but then she started to make them unpleasant (you know what I mean). I still appreciate how she managed to change the melody a bit.

Overall, I still believe MHWGO is her best English song, and it had a tremendous success. It is amazing how many live performances of MHWGO we have!

Can we make up a research; but I do believe ,that, it's the most sold song ever appearing on CD (Compact Disc)

Let's talk about Love album : 32 M + Titanic Soundtracks: 30 M + The physical single: 18M + All the way...A decade of song (Physical sales only): 22 M + My Love: Essential Collection/My Love: Ultimate Essential collection (Physical sales only): 3 M + All the different compilations/Best hits... here and there around the world since 23/25 years (Let's say approximately 5 M)

Maybe I forgot some other CD's, thanks for adding to this list !

The song appears at least on 110 Million CD's sold around the world

Let's try to count together ! :)

She really put in the album's version a lot of magic. To my ears, what that made this song so special is her French accent
and her unique nuances. I wonder if acapella version for live shows will work.

Oscars 1998, Vegas DVD and BBMAs 2017 are all iconic. I also quite liked the waterfall effect in Vegas. Vocally, however, it has to be performances from September 1999 on the LTAL tour. Those were perfection.

Agreed.

So thankful for the Edison Ballroom concert.
She demonstrated just how legendary she is that night.

She was sick that day and sang the sang with a breathy voice only and that one take was what was used for the studio version.
She never sings it in the original key and that way anymore.

This masked singer does sing it in original key and that breathy voice;

I didn't remember she was sick just that she went to record it after her morning coffee lol she did pretty amazing
job given that she was sick.
I think that she is sick singing it that's why there is no more emocion to this song from recent times

First off, the masked singer sang it better than Céline has in several years.

And Céline wasn’t sick when she recorded it, but she said in an interview that she was on her period and not feeling well.

I think she also mentioned drinking lots of coffee, didn't she?

Her voice in the studio version is my favorite of all songs and live performances. So emotional, so soft, so beautiful! Funny how she didn't feel well because her voice absolutely did!

Wow, wow and wow again! The Oprah one vocals are amazing, both because you loved me and my heart will go on! The way she sang "forever this way" broke my heart! The world children's day one is great too, one of the best (the whole concert is one of Céline's highest moments).

I assume there's more to it than "her team sucks".

It's so nice to finally have O Holy Night from her CBS special uploaded on her channel. I don't understand copyright issues at all. Why can O Holy Night from a 1998 CBS special be uploaded to her channel yet the My Heart Will Go On music video can't?

Because different companies own the different videos. One company might give the rights to post a video; another company may so no.

Hopefully they can get it straightened out.
Having the official video posted on her account would be wonderful.

Billboard also noted that since 1991, there’s been 356 No.1s but just under 7 percent of all leaders have ballooned to such heights!!

Favorite quotes and reviews about “My Heart Will Go On”:
  • “My Heart Will Go On” gave me the opportunity to be associated with a classic that will live forever” – Celine
  • “In writing the song there was only one person technically that I felt could sing it, and I’ve known Celine so long” – James Horner
  • “Horner wanted Celine-and only Celine- to sing the theme to this movie.” – Tommy Mottola (previous Sony Music Chairman/CEO)
  • “A song came to my attention that I knew would have a huge impact: “My Heart Will Go On.” I have a clear memory of the night Celine flew in for that demo. We all entered the big Studio A at the Hit Factory- Horner, Rene, Celine, and myself. Celine walked into the vocal booth, ran through the song quickly, and then said: “Okay, I’m ready to sing it. Let’s go.” She put on her headphones and the playback of the track started. Celine opened her mouth and started singing, and goose bumps filled my body. When you know it, you know it. I was listening to one of the classic vocals of all time being recorded. She stopped singing, and that was it. One take. One take! No fixes. Nothing. That demo recording became the recording that you heard in every country around the world and will hear for the rest of time.” – Tommy Mottola
  • “It was a song that propelled by now almost a billion dollars in [music] sales. Celine is a very gracious, generous person. And has done nothing but be thankful. Unlike many [artists]. – Tommy Mottola (previous Sony Music CEO)
  • “Within a twelve-month period, “Let’s Talk about Love” sold more than 30 million copies and went to Number One all over the world. Simultaneously, the sound track (Titanic) also sold more than 30 million albums. On top of that, “My Heart Will Go On” won an Academy Award the following year, and the song took away four Grammys. Let me explain what this meant financially. Selling more than 60 million copies meant almost a billion dollars in sales for Sony Music- and just from one artist. Today, given the state of the music industry, it’s easy to predict that this will never be done again.” – Tommy Mottola
  • “She (Celine) was singing the song”, Horner recalls, eyes welling up, “and 20 people in the studio started crying. Celine had to stop and compose herself.” – James Horner
  • “A little-recognized accomplishment of “My Heart Will Go On” is how many Titanic movie tickets it sold. Long after the enormous worldwide marketing campaigns of Paramount and Fox had spent their last advertising dollars, the continuing airplay and video play for “My Heart Will Go On” acted as a constant reminder to go see the movie again.” – Glen Brunman (previous executive VP, Sony Music Soundtrax)
  • “It was one of those records that just wouldn’t die, I think it was a combination of the perfect artist in Celine- who sings it so powerfully, and her popularity was at a great peak anyway- and then the movie being on fire, I don’t know we’ve seen much like it since.” – John Ivey, President of contemporary hits radio programming strategy for iHeartMedia.
  • “It was myself, Celine, Rene, Jim Horner, and Polly Anthony, who was then the President of Epic Records. Everything was kind of calm and quiet. Celine went in the booth and turned the lights down, and we could faintly see her face. And she laid down this vocal- nonstop, OK? One take. We were all getting chills.” – Tommy Mottola
  • “That very first “Near, far- wherever you are”- everybody knew that she could belt, but there was something about the delicacy.” – Simon Franglen (producer on “My Heart Will Go On”)
  • “They’re all crying. And they said, “we’re done.” I said “OK, well, I’m glad that you liked the demo.” – Celine
  • “I don’t think Jim (James Cameron, Director of Titanic) has ever been someone who needs other people’s opinion. But I know that he personally got the song. He felt like it gave a resonance to rest of the movie.” – Simon Franglen
  • “The song is an easy target for postmodern- millennial hipster angst. Why? Because it sincere? It’s the rarest of things. It’s quality. I would like to hear more power ballads. More power ballads I say!” – Billy Zane (actor in Titanic)
  • “It was very nice to win record of the year. And I’m very pleased with the royalties. But I’m proud of it because it means something to an awful lot of people.” – Simon Franglen
  • “My Heart Will Go On” has been an important song in my life for nearly two decades, now and tonight, I’m very honored to sing it for all of you and for the love of my life. Rene, you will always be in my heart.” – Celine, August of 2016, just months after Rene passed away
  • “I loved the movie, and I went into the studio and recorded a song. I gave it as much as any other song recorded in my life, and now, here we are breaking records. It’s not something you think you will ever do. I am very amazed, but at the same time, people are touched by love, by love stories, and by emotion. To me, this is the most important thing.” – Celine
  • “This record is a true phenomenon. No one knows what the limit is. Celine has become the standard-bearer. She just keeps raising the bar, not only for her peers, but for herself as well.” – Polly Anthony (former 550 Music/Epic Records President)
  • “I have never seen two amazing phenomena come together like this to hit the sweetest spot of life, the Titanic will now complete it’s voyage. Lyrically, it can be very personalized, offering sweetness, sadness, mourning, revelation. Almost any emotion can be attached to this song” – Polly Anthony
  • “There’s a power that movies have, that TV and radio just don’t. That alone can make a song seem really big and special. But, I don’t think that’s why it’s a hit. I think it was destined to be so from the start.” – Hillary Shaev (previous 550 Music senior VP of Promotion)
  • “The song will likely be remembered as one of the biggest songs of 1998, but it falls just shy of the top 10 because the commercial single retailed more than two months after the song caught at radio, and only 650,000 units were released. If the single had been released closer to the radio impact date, “My Heart Will Go On” would have been No. 1 for the first three months of the year and would have probably topped the year-end singles list.” Theda Sandiford-Waller, Billboard Magazine
  • “I can never get tired of it. Every night, people go crazy when I sing it!” – Celine
I hope you enjoy these quotes too!   :)
