I found Diane not very enlightening in this interview. She was asked "What makes a great song?" and she said "Good lyrics and good melody".... very simple answers.

Yeah, not very engaged. And I've heard other interviews with her where she seemed very ambivalent.

She was supposed to be promoitng her album, one would think she would have been more enthused. And he asked for a fun fact about BYLM and she was just like "Yeah, that was for Up Close and Personal and Celine sang it remotely."  .....

She sounds jaded by the industry for real, just like what she said in that interview.

I agree that this is such a forgettable song. I really hoped it would be much better and was very disappointed. Would never want this realised again as part of a package or for it to see the light of day again. So disappointed. Everything about it was garbage. Her voice was horrendous.

I shuffled my music this morning and the first song on was I want you to need me. Compare it to superwoman and I wonder what Diane Warren was thinking with superwoman. Smh. It’s so bad.

I know IWYTNM is classic Celine 90s vocals but the songs themselves couldn’t be further apart in terms of quality.

It seems The Academy has conceded that Diane is just never going to win that Oscar so they’re giving her an honorary one -

I can’t imagine that she is proud of that song either. Its awful for a singer of Celines status.

I think that they only put that out because of the women empowerment theme, cause besides that the song has absolutely nothing to offer. A demo/b-side/lef over at best. Even the production is horrible an beyond cheap. The official itunes version sounds like a bad quality rip.

Diane finally got her (honorary) Oscar - https://www.billboar...ala-1235174307/

Céline contributed a blurb, apparently.

“Warren’s speech was preceded by a tribute film (produced by Bess Kargman) that included insightful comments from Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Clive Davis, Quincy Jones and more.”

I’ve searched but haven’t been able to find anything.
Diane’s speech is on the Oscars YT channel but not the lead-up to it.

So you think a video can’t give an idea as to how she is feeling generally? No one is taking a video as gospel.

Are you telling me her recent videos (sat wearing black, hair in a bun, speaking ridiculously sombrely / low / whispering and looking generally downcast) are no different to videos in the past, before her illness (AI final video - hair down, happy, smiling, wearing non black, speaking with confidence and appearing to be super happy / excited)?

Grow up.

So if she’s smiling, she’s okay? Got it.
This is the last video I recall of her, she’s wearing white, though her hair is in a bun… I’m not getting any indicators about her muscle spasms… but she is *sort of* smiling…

Please enlighten us! How was she feeling? What was her prognosis at the time?

Quote

OBSESSED, The Story of Diane Warren...so far, a new musical based on the incredible life of one of the most famous and successful songwriters of all time, is in development.

OBSESSED is a rollicking rock 'n' roll musical of passion, obsession, and determination. The story of an extraordinary "bad-ass" woman - a genius who wrote and composed the soundtrack of our lives.

OBSESSED includes Diane Warren's biggest hits and features an acclaimed creative team brought together by Ms. Warren including two-time Tony Award-winning book writer Joe DiPietro and three-time Tony Award-winning director Kathleen Marshall and producer Irit TenHengel.

A private presentation of OBSESSED will take place in New York this month.

The musical includes Diane's hit songs: "Rhythm of the Night," "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," "If I Could Turn Back Time," "Unbreak My Heart," "Because You Loved Me," "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing." The show will also include several new songs written by Ms. Warren.

OBSESSED brings Diane Warren's remarkable and almost unbelievable story to the musical theater stage and boldly asks: "How could the woman who wrote some of the world's most famous love songs have never been in love?"

Growing up in suburban Los Angeles in the 1970s, Diane was a young rebel, obsessed with songwriting from an early age, and against all odds climbed the ladder of the music industry to the highest peak imaginable. By the age of 14 writing songs took over Diane's existence and she was writing three songs a day. Her breakthrough came at the age of 26 when she wrote the worldwide smash hit "Rhythm of the Night."

Diane's career skyrocketed in the 1980s, and her record sales and hits surpassed her male contemporaries. She has written hits for the biggest artists in the world including Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Aerosmith, Cher, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and many more.

Diane Warren is one of modern music's most celebrated songwriters. She has penned nine #1 and thirty-two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and is tied for having written the most #1 songs as a sole writer in Billboard history. Her songs have been featured in more than 100 motion pictures.

After winning Grammy, Emmy, and Golden Globe awards, being nominated for 13 Oscars, being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Diane Warren just received an Honorary Oscar and is the first songwriter to have been given that honor. "Nothing's Gonna Stop Her Now" from bringing her music and story to Broadway!

"Broadway is a new chapter for me and to work with such amazing artists like Kathleen Marshall and Joe DiPietro makes me excited to see where this will lead!" - Diane Warren

Too bad it's 'just' BYLM and not a more obscure song like WFTM of NBBMH, but I guess BYLM was the most successful Diane-Dion collaboration.

I actually love “Hold My Hand.” I think it’s a much better constructed song than anything Diane has submitted in the last few years.

Ok i know most of you loath this song, but I really enjoy it.

Yesterday I went to see Barbie. And I enjoyed the movie a lot. It has the right doses of jokes, cynicism, heart and goofyness in it! (Not so sure about the ending tho...) But I couldn't help thinking how Superwoman would have fitted the movie and it's message perfectly!
