Hear hear!

Can't she stop playing it safe with at least one album? I'm afraid we wont see it till "all is lost" when it comes to her music career, she's fallen into oblivion, has nothing to loose and finaly dares to explore music wise, sadly by then her voice wont be what it is now....

But one can still dream and have hope for the Courage album. But I doubt they'll make a u-turn all of a sudden. As we've learned when it comes to music and Céline evolution takes TIIIIIIIMMEE.

I am not sure however what I will do if the most daring thing on the new album is a studio version of Black Or White... 😣

But glad she’s found happiness in this stuff, however, wish she’d be as daring and original with music as she has been with her fashion.

These pictures are GREAT. I wish her the same courage for the new album, too. GREAT!

I don't like the clothes, I don't like the style, I don't like the hair, I just don't like these "too much Photoshop and kitschy" pictures.

I haven't read all posts on this topic. I'm probably one of the very few who dislike these photos but it's true. I dislike them. Yes, I appreciate that it's something unusual for Celine, but I don't think she looks good.

She's more into fashion than music nowadays. I like those pics but - well - new music would be more appreciated though. :flowers:

I hate it too when they are crazy photoshoping her. There is no need for that.

She will be photoshopped, they use for everyone. It’s just the way it goes. Do y’all really think her album shoot will not have “touch ups” ?

They were editing and touching up her album pics in the late 90s, to assume they havent done so since in every media form is silly. I mean she even filters her videos she puts out... its standard for most everyone in the industry, Alicias have been edited too

I don't think they exaggerated in photoshop. It is the style and makeup that are bold.
Moreover, when they do not use photoshop, criticism abounds that Celine has aged a lot or has a cadaverous face. So relax!

Most of her skin looks quite smooth due to photoshop
but then it all shows on the right hand, it's quite funny.

When it gets too much of it, it takes out the authenticity. She is beautiful the way she is
even with all the noticeable wrinkles. We are all getting those in the end ^_^

Some commentary on the photos from the fashion blog Go Fug Yourself: "I love how artsy it is, and how little she seems to care about being recognizable; this feels more about the performance than her own celebrity. I appreciate that." I think this gets right to the point of what Céline's fashion renaissance has been about these past few years: it's a new way of performing for her. She's said countless times that fashion is a way for her to express herself, and I would venture that in a lot of "Fashion Céline" instances, she's not Céline Dion wearing outlandish outfits, rather she's playing a character, or giving a form of performance. It just happens to be on the streets of Paris or in a fashion magazine instead of on stage with a microphone in her hand.

Obviously we all have our own opinions on Céline The Fashionista, but the more I think of it, the more I hope that this really has inspired her to be more adventurous in how she expresses herself in all facets of her life. Many others have said it too, but I just wish this divide between "out there" Fashion Céline and "staid, predictable" Music Céline would blur a bit more. Maybe she (or the label) is worried about alienating the people who buy her records, and feels that by keeping things separate she is able to keep the fans happy while still finding other creative outlets, but, geez, I want to know what the musical equivalent of "Fashion Céline" sounds like!

(Ideally for me, it'd sound like a full album of moody "Refuse To Dance" vibes, but who knows.)

I too as I always say would like a bold evolvement in her music.

But if we expect that and it turns out to be just another Taking Chances (in which she played it pretty much as safe as usual, the irony) we will get mighty disapointed. Judging by her past: to expect Courage to show off courage would just be a let down....

To be honest though. I am a hardcore fan. And she'd have greater chances keeping me as a great fan (not a threat!) if she actually stepped out of her comfort zone with this one... I mean how much repetition can we (she and the fans) actually stand?

If Courage wont show off courage I can't say I wont remain a fan, but I sure will be less interested in her music from now on and frankly be sad for her for staying in the prison of "the fans needs stability".
Peace and love to all.

I would say the name courage was choosen, because it's her first album without Rene, so she shows that she has the courage and the strength to move on and being strong. I don't think they meant it really in the musical context. Even though FOMO is quite different from her usual repertoire. So I don't know what some people here expect her to release, a dupstep album? She did step out of her comfort zone with Fomo and on the TC album, weren't CFTF or TJTWIM very different and new for her? CFTF is a rock song and TJTWIM a blues song. They were out of her comfort zone. And RNTTRO is a country song in my opinion, she hasn't done that before too. So in my opinion they really took chances with taking chances. I could go on and on SOL, FA, even EOM were new for her, regarding the sound of the song, the music.
And I personally totally get it, that they still have to think about the fans and that aren't we alone here on this forum. They want to please the fans as much as possible and I'm fine with it. I want to be pleased. So with the courage album, I expect more an album like EUS, but with some stand outs like FOMO, which are out of her comfort zone. An album on that she shows with, that she's still here and strong to go on even without Rene on her side. She can't alienate her fans and she never should. She's Celine Dion, so the fans have expectations. But I'm fine if she keeps on releasing music with having some standouts, LMBTL was also very new for her...Celine has to be aware about the balance with pleasing her fans and explore new directions musically wise on the same side. I wouldn't like a full dance or jazz album, because that's simply not what Celine stands for. But some tracks which are going in that direction are always welcome, like FOMO or Mr. Paganini, which she hasn't released unfortunately.
Maybe I'm repeating myself, but in my opinion we should expect the courage album to be an album of showing strength like EUS after Rene's death. Not Celine as an completely other artist, miles away of what the brand Celine Dion is. And I love EUS, it's one of her best albums ever in my opinion.  Just my two cents ;)

You’re right!

“She did step out of her comfort zone with the TC album“

I don’t know why some members ignore this. This is one of her best english album compared to 2013

How did ya'all conclude she was going to be in attendance?
All I see in this article is that it's a celebration of this year's chosen icons - doesn't actually say who will be attending as far as I can tell.

Sorry, double post.

But while I'm at it - she attended Met Gala twice without performing, so if she IS expected to be there, not performing is not an anomaly.

There are several singers on this list. They all probably just want to enjoy the night being honored and not working. Alicia was probably only asked because she's the cover girl.

No hate, but WHY is she on the cover and even considered an icon? I mean she had some hits in the 00s, but that's about it...

No hate, but WHY is she on the cover and even considered an icon? I mean she had some hits in the 00s, but that's about it...

Well, I would say that the term 'icon' or 'iconic' is used in an inflationary way nowadays.
Even regarding Céline. She is indeed an icon on her own ground due to her career, but there are two many articles stating 'iconic performance' or 'iconic look' (or 'legendary something') for basically anything whereas it should used scarcely for selected moments.
