I want an interview like this in English, please Celine. She should try to get more young journalists/interviewers to do her interviews because she behaves so differently, more open and youthful.

I don't understand much (thank you to those that explained a few moments in the video) but it was an entertaining interview to watch nonetheless. That's the great thing about Celine, it's fun just watching her.
The smoking bit was funny she was like, smoking looks sexy but DON'T DO IT :giggle:

I have a feeling her next shirt design will be one that says YES!
Also, she's gonna kick someone in the face one day lol.

It’s been a few years since my last French class but I’m gonna give the video a watch! Maybe I’ll pick some stuff up!

POPULAR

sigh...A young youtuber makes on of the best interviews in the last recent years,,,watch and learn reporters...some of them are STILL asking how is se coping with Rene's death...

As someone who was never popular at school (to say it lightly) it warms my heart to see how open she is about her (still open) wound, bullying can make awful things to one's selfsteem,
Celine grew up o be such a confident woman, we should learn from that

Man, her French was full of anglicismes.  How many times did we hear "le lunch"?  MDR     Nevertheless, a great interview.

MOST IMPORTANT she asks when a new album comes out.   She said she is working on the English album and of course a French one will come out next.  "It's in my blood."

When I was in college in Montreal, we had a running joke about how you just put "le" or "la" in front of an English word to get around Quebec's language police :giggle:
I remember there were all these clubs called things like "Le Drugstore", "Le Sugar", etc.

someone made Spanish subtitles for the interview.

the bit about bullying is better than I thought, and what she said about not blocking your children from experimenting and expressing themselves I felt that closely (not for myself but for a kid I know who's like a little brother to me).
I wish she had more people like this lady interviewing her in English.

I guess that has to do with the fact that she is in France. French from France is, in general, full of anglicisms. I find it really interesting that it's totally different in Quebec; not only Céline, but everybody who speaks French in Quebec always uses French words, very rarely you'll hear an anglicism in Quebec.

I learned French in France.   Certain ones, yes, I hear all the time.  But Celine was really going at it.   More than I usually hear people in France use.

You are right in that especially in places like Montreal a lot of English is spoken. When I'm there I find myself switching between French and English a lot during conversations. Gt out of town and it is a very different storey though.

It is true however that the French language is highly protected in Quebec, especially in written form. They have words for things which the French would just use the English word for. Like in France an email is an 'email', in Quebec it is a 'courirel'.

You are correct. Montreal is a different story as many people speak English (and languages get all mixed up). But as soon as you leave Montreal, it's a lot less "anglicised" and many don't really speak English.
